Tony Parker for 7th

You said “As would anyone who understands basketball”. Same thing.
It's my opinion. Thankfully I have pretty much all the knowledgable posters on my side. Not looking good for you, is it?

So only “casual fans” would take Bosh over Dalembert? No coaches, GMs, analysts, etc. would?
Not for this team, no. We have no need for Bosh, we do for Dally. Simples. It's pretty easy to understand.

I’ll say it again. Puhlease, spare us the "if you understood basketball you'd agree with me" bit.
If you'd displayed an ounce of basketball IQ up to this point I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. You haven't, though.

LOL. I don’t know what to say to that other than to call it the utter nonsense that it is.
Call it what you want. In fact, some people in Sacramento don't have a clue about this teams needs. You're evidence of this. So I'd have little hope for people who don't even follow the team.

Yeah? And? What’s that got to do with whether Bosh or Dalembert will help a team more?
Dear lord. You need only look at the finals to see who helped their team win more. The soft scoring PF? Or the defensive rebounding, shot-blocking center? This is pretty amazing - you're outdoing yourself.

Yeah well you know, we can’t all be experts.
Clearly.

Where did I say they weren’t better???
Never said you did. Was referring to you being unable to grasp that we can get a better SF in FA, as well as a PG who fits in better with what we have. And keep our cap space and flexibility.

It isn’t guaranteed under any circumstance. Other than stating the obvious, what’s your point?
Correct, but it's much more likely if we don't just have the bare minimum to engage with.

So what? Cutting it tight is where you want to be. Nine times out of ten the team that’s cutting it tight is better than the team that’s hoarding cap space waiting for a sweetheart deal to fall into their laps.
Cutting it tight with players that you want and that fit. Not taking on other teams big contracts in order to get a good player (who is overpaid himself and is doubtful to fit on our team). This should be fairly simple. There's a formula, and it's not letting other people dump their contracts on us.

Nice cop-out, chump. Can't refute me, so try and belittle me. Typical tactic of those who grossly overestimate their own abilities.
There. Refuted. Now I'm going to go and do what I know many other posters have already done - ignore list. Your posts make my head hurt and lower the IQ of the forum.

Unlike you, I don’t require validation in the form of having others on my side. That’s not how arguments are won or lost. It isn’t majority rules. Debating from that angle is just a form of argumentum ad populum. Arguments stand or fall based on their own merit, not having others agree with them.

Not for this team, no. We have no need for Bosh, we do for Dally. Simples. It's pretty easy to understand.
It takes a special kind of arrogance to presume that every coach, GM, and analyst out there would make the same decision here that you would. Your hubris is really something to behold.

If you'd displayed an ounce of basketball IQ up to this point I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. You haven't, though.
You’re entire premise seems to be that I have no “basketball IQ" because I hold a different opinion than you do. You’ll need to do better than that to prove I don’t know what I’m talking about. You’d need surveys, statements, etc. from those in the business to certify that they agree with you here. Simply presuming that they would, which is what you’re doing, just won’t cut it.

Call it what you want. In fact, some people in Sacramento don't have a clue about this teams needs. You're evidence of this. So I'd have little hope for people who don't even follow the team.
Look here, my simple minded friend. I understand that Dalembert fills a need. What you, in your obtuseness don’t seem able to grasp, is that Bosh fills another kind of need. It’s not as if only one of them can fill a need. Totally different players, thus, fill completely different needs.

Dear lord. You need only look at the finals to see who helped their team win more. The soft scoring PF? Or the defensive rebounding, shot-blocking center? This is pretty amazing - you're outdoing yourself.
Obviously you didn’t watch the finals. If you had, you’d have seen that Bosh kept the Heat in some of those games. If they didn’t have Bosh, they may have gotten swept. Bosh was the one Heat player who showed up in every game. What you’re doing is pointless anyways though because single players don’t win championships, teams do. You might as well argue that J.J Barea is more valuable than Bosh because he helped the Mavericks win.
Never said you did. Was referring to you being unable to grasp that we can get a better SF in FA, as well as a PG who fits in better with what we have. And keep our cap space and flexibility.
OK, goob, see if you can follow along here. A, I never said a better SF couldn’t be gotten in FA. My point was that you take Jefferson because of Parker. It’s a package deal and Parker is what makes it worthwhile. That Jefferson plays the SF is just a convenient bonus.

B, since you seem to have a crystal ball, who are these point guards that are going to “fit in better”? Jimmer? Walker? We don’t even know if the Kings will draft them and they’ve yet to play a single minute of NBA basketball so spare me the idea that somehow you can magically divine who will fit better at this point.

Correct, but it's much more likely if we don't just have the bare minimum to engage with.
Only if your owners are timid and cheap. Which seems to be the Maloofs m.o. these days, so I’ll concede that one.

No kidding. What I don’t get is how someone with as much “basketball IQ” as you seem to think you have can’t grasp that Parker and Jefferson would fit. What are the Kings two biggest needs? PG and SF. What are Parker and Jefferson? PG and SF. Do I really need to spell it out anymore clearly than that?

There. Refuted. Now I'm going to go and do what I know many other posters have already done - ignore list. Your posts make my head hurt and lower the IQ of the forum.
Nothing says you got the better of someone quite like them ending a post by telling you you’re going on their ignore list.

Please, put me on ignore! You’d be doing me a favor. The less condescending morons I have to deal with, the better!

I think the most telling part of this discussion is a PM I just got telling me they're having a great laugh at your posts. Seriously, I have no intention of wasting my time on you. Thankfully this trade won't go down because it's pretty bad. As pretty much all the experts/analysts/whatever you want to call them tend to agree.

It's telling that you think i care what others think of my posts. I'm not out to win any popularity contests and the approval of others is something I neither seek nor require. But having said that, it's not as if there aren't folks out there who agree with me on this. There are, you must have blinders on if you haven't seen them. Read Tom Ziller's take on it. He echos pretty much everything i've said.

What I find hilarious is that no one has bashed the Maloofs more than Rookie and now he expects them to take on Parker, Jefferson, and resign Marcus and Dally? Cutting it close on the cap for a team that'll still be just battling for the 8th seed is not gonna fill the house up every night and have the Maloofs feeling comfortable. Not backing up the Maloofs here, just wondering how all of a sudden you think they're gonna double their payroll?

Where did I say i expected them to do it? I pretty much know they won't do it. It's just what i think they should do if they're serious about getting their team back to relevance. That they won't do it is part or why I've bashed them.

I don't think Jefferson lost any athleticism or got older. Spurs wanted him to play D and just spot up for the corner 3 ala Bruce Bowen. Which he was not able to do consistently. I don't think the Spurs played or used him that much because of there system or style of play and was ineffective during the playoffs at most. I do remember him jamming a lot of alley-oops from Parker when they run that play for Jefferson during the regular season, so his hops still there. Parker and Jefferson plugs some of our needs right now and could bring us back in the playoffs. Veteran experience mixed with our young talent would be good and we might be able to surprise a lot of people next season. If Dalembert and Cousins play there potential (not get in foul trouble a lot) i think the Kings can be very very good, also Dalembert has proven he can defend the quick PFs (Dirk stopper anyone? has the longer length and speed) and is the best compliment (except maybe for Chandler) for Cousins if we put him at the 4 spot. I still am having a hard time how Evans can play off Parker, so guessing would be the same as we played Udrih and Evans last season only Parker is a lot better than Udrih at penetrating opposing defense. If this trade does go through and keep both Thornton and Dalember, i'd be more excited for next season! Come on now, 2 big front line with Dalembert and Cousins, outside scoring/drives from J and quick potent backcourt with Evans/Parker.

Parker, Jefferson, Dalmbert, and Thornton would probly kill most if not all of our capspace, but adding Parker alone ( who expires the same year you have to start paying DMC the big bucks ) is still something I would look at.

Bosh adds to a team what Kevin Martin adds to a team. He is the KMart of pf's.

Daly adds to a team what Chandler adds to a team. Defense/rebounding.

Which direction has this team been going?

I don't think Bosh is as soft or as one dimensional as Martin. I see Bosh as the type of player that doesn't wow you in any one area but has a solid all around game. Can shoot well, has a good FG%, good FT%, can pass well, is an adequate re-bounder, and probably a better defender than he gets credit for.

I'd still do this if:
1) Iggy trade was not possible
2) They take back Beno and Garcia. I wouldn't eat all that RJ/Parker salary without sending something back. No other team can even compete with that offer so if they don't like it - they can stuff it. We would only have 9M or so more in salary than we already do so could easily sign Dally, Thornton, and JT next year.

Like someone else said, the Parker/RJ contracts end before Cousins is extended so it should not conflict.

This is one of the few trades that have a good chance to put us back in the playoffs this year.

Who gives a crap about Bosh?!
And what does he or Chandler have to do with the Kings?

Newsflash - the Kings flat-out SUCKED last year in 4th quarter execution - one of the very worst and hapless teams in the entire league.

Yet, KF's are turning up their nose at getting an elite NBA vet PG with plenty of years left in his tank for only $12.5 mil a season.

Amazing.

Iggy will make close to $15 mil a year for THREE more years, and KF's are OK with taking on his contract?
Has he ever been in the playoffs or proven he's a clutch NBA performer like Tony Parker has?
Does he make the offense run?

Not only turning their noses up, but some are saying those of us who think adding Parker is a good idea have low basketball IQs and just don't know what we're talking about, hahaha.

kings cannot run an offense, especially in late game situations. Parker has ran an offense for multiple championship teams. He knows how to run an offense, especially in late game situations. Kings glaring home according to people here is SF. thats not true. THe glaring hole is 4th quarter offensive execution. This would fill that hole. = more wins. the end.

I will say this .. someone tweeted about an hour ago, I cant even remember who cause my brain is pretty much turning to mush will all this trade talk, but someone said Sac wont deal for Parker because of his contract, but Felton for 7 is still in play.

I would take Parker and the bad Jefferson contract before I take a one year rental on Felton any day of the week. Felton for #7 would be a terrible trade. One of Petries worst. It cant be even remotely true.
I totally agree. Parker >> Felton. Felton just doesn't have the quickness or speed of a Parker, to begin with. Then he's going to be a rent-a-player for a year. Napier was talking yesterday that he thought it was a no-brainer to send the #7 (even if Kemba was available) to get Felton. I highly disagree (and the expert he discussed it with also disagreed).

nowhere

which is why all the OKC comparisons don't make sense anymore

If the Kings won't do this because of RJ's contract then that's a legit reason. Hearing that they won't do this because of Parker's contract is really worrisome. There is some worry that Parker relies heavily on his speed and may fall off fast, but he can still run a team and is the best PG available via FA or trade right now, and addresses the team's biggest weakness. A weakness they've had for four years? Four bad, lottery years. So, along comes a championship all-star PG for a #7 pick and you worry about his contract? This contract isn't even Arenas bad. It's just typical for a player that has done what he's done.

Iggy with a similar contract to Parker would become our best wing defender and yes...he in fact does make an offense run considering he averaged over 6 assists this year. So defense, ball movement, and veteran leadership in a position of need that is only 27. Oh the horror!

I'd take that over Parker any day but haven't heard one word about us being connected to dealing him.

Parker for 7th..just do it! Where else can you get a deal like this? Aren't you tired of waiting? If Evans and Cousins stay healthy and improve Kings will be scary and you still have Thornton coming off the bench for added scoring. Lakers and Mavs will think twice playing the Kings with our size and speed. We'll be as good as the Memphis if not better if Kings improve defensively as well and will be able to compete night in night out with any other team. We might be even better than the Spurs by then. Now your plugging smaller holes, say bench depth and that added energy guy. Championship team, maybe not but now you know you have at least a chance in the playoffs. Just ask Dallas, they weren't even in the discussion for the championship this year but they had the chance.

Or, we could draft at #7 and hope to get a good talent, and wait for sign a big name star to come over to bring us to then next level (ie. Divac,CWebb, Bibby). Another way is just go with the motion and be in the lottery again for next years stronger draft class.

Iggy's assists do not mean he can run an offense. They may just mean he can pass well within an offensive system, but the Kings do not have a legit offensive system.

And I like Iggy, but he is overpaid. He doesn't help the vet/leadership issue nearly as much as Parker does.

Iggy doesn't have to run the offense, but he can be a major facilitator. So can Tyreke. So can Cousins. Hell...even Thornton and Dally showed themselves to be better passers than expected near the end of the year. The system would be more about ball movement and multiple ball handlers than one shrimpy fast guy setting 4 other guys up to finish.

Am I the only one who doesn't think we need another guard on our team? I think we can add a swingman guard, but not someone at the 1/2 position. I like Reke/Beno/Thornton there, and I think if we add a starting caliber swingman and put him at the three, then back him up with Donte, we'd be fine there. Unless you're talking about an elite level player, I don't think we should take on significant salary for a player that doesn't make us a playoff contender. I like Parker and think he's better than any other guard we have, but he's also expensive, and comes with another expensive player, and I don't think that move makes us any better than a 40 win team. Plus, it restricts our flexibility moving forward.

True, but he was asked to run the offense quite a bit last year, and the ball was in his hands to help create for others a lot more than prior years. Philly was a tough out towards the end of the year. So the assist numbers aren't artificially high - he was, at times, the straw that stirred the drink. He certainly won't play that role here, but we also won't have to worry about him being a black hole on offense.

I'm largely in the same boat. However, I think you'll still need a guard who is pretty consistent from the outside and can create for others as well, (like drafting Jimmer). There should always be someone on the floor who can hit an open three - it doesn't give the opposing defense a chance to rest.

I think we can target some elite SFs through a trade since we'll have the cap space to bring someone in. I don't know about drafting a SF because I don't see any of them as "Day 1 Ready". There are good players, sure, but I don't know if the FO or the fans have the patience to wait for them to develop.
