We do have all the pieces to form a great team- big men who can score, pass, rebound, defend, block shots, clog the paint and open up the offense, as well as bring scoring and energy off the bench. Problem is, those pieces are distributed unevenly through 6 guys contesting for minutes at 2 spots. We can play Sampson, but lose minutes for Skinner, or play both, lose minutes for Corliss and Thomas, play Thomas and Skinner, miss out on some scoring and won't find out if Jamal is good... For a lot of teams, when you play them it's pick your poison- defend one guy and another burns you. We have the same situation, only internally. Whoever we play, we will end up with a gaping deficiency in another part of our game. This team has "the pieces" but it is absolutely not possible to make them all fit and give them all the minutes needed to be impact players in any way. Just one more of the many reasons that this team absolutely needs to be taken apart- both starters and bench. We have plenty of talent, just talent thrown together randomly, even accidently. (see:Abdur Rahim, Shareef; Thomas, Kenny; Williamson, Corliss; also Mobley, Cuttino) There is no way this talent can be used to its full potential, some one will miss out.
