Thoughts about trading back for Omri Casspi

Honestley, I have been thinking about this for quite a while now..

there is no dought that this team has some major issuies with the 3 and I believe that trading back for casspi should be considered.

the truth is, that he has had a horrible, horrible season in cleveland. the hickson-omri trade didn't benefit for either team.

Dont get me woring, I don't see omri casspi as the solution for the 3 problem, but when he was on our team, he was a better player then he is now for the cavs.
I don't see any reason for him staying.

when I look back, omri was ok, of course he wasn't a star or anything but he consistently contributed his 9.45 ppg with 4 rebounds with 37% 3-point shooting. john salmons has 64% ft.

As I said, I don't see him as the solution for the 3 problem, but I much, much rather have omri on the bench than having salmons start and I believe that many of you agree with me on this one.

um.. what do you think?

Think that bridge is burned, and also think Omri is going to have to really pick up his game here or actually be in danger of falling out of the NBA. Now after two bad years in a row I'm not sure exactly where/with what style of player he would fit well. Seems to need to just become...better.

Thing is this Kingsteam aready has half a dozen similar level guys, and its choking us to death. If there is not a major move made this summer to get a 'sure thing' at that position...well, we'll deserve whatever we get. Omri needs to find sompelace where maybe he has a stable role off the bench or something so he can get steady. That isn't likely to be here.

no passpi, no thanks. don't know if you remember.... but he was not happy with his role here thats one of the reasons why he was shipped out. hes a pretty selfish player that wants to be featured.

No! And after a little more thought, NO! They say you can't ever go back because its never the same way you remember it. In this case, why would I even want to go back.

If you don't see Casspi as the solution for the 3 problem, then common sense should tell you to not even think of bringing him back. Come on dude, you can dream of a better player at the 3 to play for our Kings. Dreaming is free.

IMO, Casspi is an egocentric selfish player and he is not good enough to be an NBA player. So a big NO to him ever playing again for my favorite team.

Honestly wouldn't even waste a 2nd rounder on him.

He's just a lost cause defensively and it doesn't seem like all the passion fearlessness and hustle in the world can change that - and on top of that he can't dribble the ball more then once and is an average-below average 3 point shooter, and a dreadful shooter from just about anywhere else.

He's on the fast track back to Europe. Doesn't really belong in this league.

Haven't we learned anything from John Salmons?!?! Never works the next time around.

I think the OP is on to something here. There is an opportunity for something historic. We could become the first team in history to give up a first round pick to trade a player and then give up another first round pick to get them back. That would be a nice coup-de-grace to close out the Maloof ownership era. :)

maloofs must think having the 1st israeli player will do wonders for marketing

No chance. He's not a good player -- at all, and like others have said he's actually a very selfish player on offense. He looks out for himself ahead of his team. I was saying this during his rookie year when everybody thought he was the second coming....

I was actually thinking back a few days ago as well .. to a different SF we had at one point.

Nocioni would actually be interesting on this team. Big, tough for a SF who can defend and rebound, and can knock down the open 3. Very scrappy.

Too bad he absolutely hated it here (and I hated him here too) But he's also on the brink of retirement or heading back home. He's the kind of player I'd like though... that kind of mold. Nocioni in his prime.

casspi was supposed to be that player you speak of. however he didn't want to accept the roleplayer role on the team.

we should look into trying to acquire another 1st pick and grab jeff taylor in the draft. he's a defensive player that can hit open shots.

cousins, davis ( we can hope ), taylor, reke, mt

No return of Casspi. We need to be into other stuff. Resuffering the same pain is double not fun. Liked the experiment with Casspi but it didn't turn out.

Casspi is nothing special. I believe he's coming back to Europe where he can be the main guy in a team. He does not have the mentality to be a good role player, and that's why he's not succeeding in the NBA. Too bad, he could have had a good career I believe, but I'm pretty sure his NBA experiment is over.

I don't know if it's the "don't have the right mentality" thing - more then he just simply can't guard almost any SF in this league, is a defensive liability at the forward position - and practically can't do a thing other then shoot the 3(mediocre) and hustle/run the floor.

He's just not skilled enough on the offensive end - and not athletic enough on the defensive end, and just doesn't belong in this league skill-wise way before the mentality part - atleast right now, and personally I can't really see it changing esp the defense part so in my book ever.

He might hang around cause he's 6'9 and has some marketing power, but he won't really be seeing the floor all that much.

Yep. Kind of like we did with John Salmons?

No thank you dvirc218 from Israel.

And frankly, we're glad his idiotic player-first fans are gone with him!!!

You are showing the exact same tendencies. You want the Kings to trade for Omri so he can do better.

Think about what you are saying: Omri got worse in his second year with us, we traded him, and he got worse still. Now you argue that we should trade to get him back?? ... trade a guy, he gets worse, and that's the reason you trade for him back???

You only want him back because you want his stats to come up. That you argue it's better for the Kings is a complete joke. You sound like George Maloof arguing what's good for Sacramento.

I've seen player-fans poison the message board of a team that that player is on... but this is the first time I've seen a player fan poison the board of a team they want that player to go to!
