They are one big away

Kingsin07

G-League
The Kings are one decent, not great, big man away from being a very formidable team. A player like Dalembert or Magloire would make a big difference since we aren't getting Howard, Duncan or Garnett. Magloire is playing like crap right now and probably would be re-energized in a new setting. Dalembert would be ideal, but probably isn't available.

K9/SAR at PF is the biggest problem, like that is a newsflash. If there was a big man to block/change shots and help Bibby on defense, the other guys could do their jobs and not be preoccupied with who isn't doing what. K9 would be a great energy guy off the bench if he would accept that role. When was the last time Reef had a good game? He could help another team, but he isn't helping us one bit.

Team chemistry isn't good right now, players don't know their roles and Muss won't make it at the current rate. Last year it took one player move to turn this thing around and this year it will come down to the same type of thing. Get a real PF or wind up in the lottery and retool bigtime.

We're what??

Joe Maloof, is that you?

No, going into this offseason if we had retained Bonzi, retained the coach, I thought there might have been an outside chance we were TWO big men of consequence away from being "formidable". Which is still not to say remotely elite, but at least solidly in the playoff mix. But since that time not only did we neither sign Bonzi nor retain the coach, nor obtain bigs, but we have sprung leaks all over the court and taken on so much water that the "acquire one pretty good big" strategy is no longer viable, if it ever was. That's not going to save us now. In fact we're messed up and dysfunctional enough that I don't even think the acquire KG pipedream can save us anymore. There is no winning structure to add him into.

At this point the "we have no interior defensive presence" bit is more an observation than an insight . Just one problem among many. If we ever get around to rebuilding, will have to be addressed on the new squad. But its not something that throwing a Dalembert at with this current squad is going to make us "formidable". Might let us eke out an extra win or two against 14-23 teams. Maybe.

Actually, it's Gavin. How you doing?

It's mental more than physical. The team needs a boost in the frontcourt and results in other areas will occur. To be a title contender/55 win team, perhaps we need more than one big. To be formidable...a team who can defend its house and win selected road games, we need a shot-blocker/intimidator to help our existing talent.

I think we can agree that it would be best to blow the whole thing up, but since that isn't going to happen right now, why not acquire a big man to at least make the existing players and team look better so the talent that we do have is more marketable when it comes time for wholesale changes.

Because it delays the inevitable and contention for a chamipionship is also pushed back to a later date.

LOL, it won't make us a formidable team. Not one big could change this team because we have way to many problems for one big to change. Even if a big did somehow get us into the playoffs we would must likely be a eight seed and get our butts handed to us in the first round, so what would be the point of that. I say stay the course, get the best pick we get and don't delay the rebuilding process.

You should clarify that "no big that we could actually obtain" would make us formidable. A player like Duncan, Garnett, Howard, Yao, etc. would certainly make us a formidable team, if not elite. But, of course, there is zero shot of getting any of them.

One big man..........then at least one more, swap out at least two of Artest/Bibby/Miller for something more than flexible peices, a contending coach, some level of team chemistry and some serious luck - we would certainly be formidible then.

A new Arena would be a nice touch as well.
