well maybe we can down grade our current draft pick to 13th?

WHO CARES ABOUT THE DRAFT ANYWAY?

Reggie sure doesn't... turns out that he should have let the freakin kids all along.... were winning just as much know as we did in the beginning of the season... wow i just cant believe that were are helping the lakers while hurting our draft status.... if kobe wins MVP i will be sick

I predict that we will beat the spurs and lose to the lakers...then tie with portland for the 12th pick and lose the tie breaker. Great way to end the season! Helping the Lakers and giving Kobe the MVP ! ! ! and messing up our draft.

On the plus side it was actually a great win for us... and its great to see S.Williams, Hawes, and Douby playing.... although it looks like Douby is never gonna make it.... not much to get excited about there.

Yeah lets just throw away the future? Who cares about the draft? We got Ron Artest playing 42 minutes, John Salmons playing 46 minutes, and Mikki Moore playing 36 minutes. You can't build towards the future better than we are!

The Hornets are very good but they have no depth. They absolutely need CP to play at an MVP level in order to be successful. Tonight, Paul was rather lethargic and although he got his assists, it was not a typical CP game. He has been inconsistent in the last week or so, and now is the not the time for that, if you are a Hornets fan.

That is what opened the door for the Kings tonight.

Ron's insane 4th quarter didn't hurt either.

I am happy that the Kings are not packing it in and continuing to play hard. That is what I expect as a paying STH.

It's not cemented yet, but the likeliest scenario now is that LA and SA will stay out of each other's bracket, regardless of who wins their game tomorrow. That bides LA 2 rounds of time even if SA gets the top seed.

Lose your next two. Do it with pride.

I don't call them retarded. I say they are professional players with personal pride...in themselves and their teammates.

I went to the game thinking that we would lose to NO. I just wanted to see some hustle, some effort, some heart from our guys. I was not disappointed.

Even though I did not want to help the Lakers, I couldn't help but be excited about our team. It was fun.

X2

6th, if I knew that you were there, I would have looked you up. Great game, and I disagree about Douby, I still maintain that he runs the point better than Garcia.

It still does not make sense to me how a fan (not questioning anybodys fanship) could root for a loss. I can see not minding a win. But rooting for a loss, even when it is an opposing team that you like, it gets you better draft position and it effs with the Lakers, makes no sense to me.

im not understanding how we are hurting our draft position. We are basically locked in already barring us winning our remaining two games and portland losing their remaining two.

I dont care where we will pick, people keep doubting Petrie every year, and he finds us a good player every year... at this point we could be picking last and Petrie would find the Kings a good player.

If I remember correctly, Portland dropping their remaining games, plus us winning one more, would put us in a tie, with a 50% chance of dropping to 13th.

But I don't think that many of us were frantic over the draft side of it. I think more regretted the fact that the real winner in that game was the Lakers.

Portland 40-40
Sacramento 38-42

how would us winning 1 more game put us in a tie?

Apparently they won one since the last time I was paying attention, or I misremembered. That was why I prefaced my statement with "if I remember correctly," because it's not the sort of thing I check all the time.

Like I said, for most of us, any draft consideration was secondary to that of handing the Lakers the #1 seed.

Omg. A whole draft position in the late lottery! Ooooo. That could mean the difference between LeBron James and Darko Millicic.

Here's an interesting idea. If we had won the coin toss and had the 8th or 9th pick last draft we would have probably picked Joakim Noah. A guy who as far as I can tell is nothing more than a young slightly better version of Mikki Moore. Long, athletic, skinny, seven footer who howls and screams but has little actual game. Except at least Moore can shoot a little mid range shot and has the personality that gives any team instant chemistry. Instead we got the 10th pick and found a rare long, seven footer that can pass, shoot (even better than Miller) and has more post moves than he knows what to do with. I'd take Hawes any day in that comparison.

Regardless. If you want to complain about helping the Lakers, well we also happen to be in the best situation to spoil things for them in the end. I know I won't be rooting for a loss that game or any.

Consider it done friend Laker fan! We can deny you nothing you understand.

Well...we may have to go and beat the Spurs because there is no other way to screw ourselves out of another draft position, and if there is one thing we are really good at, it is screwing ourselves.

But don't you worry about Tuesday -- we fired our coach, trashed our team, missed the playoffs the last two years, have continued to refuse to plan or rebuild, broken our sellout streak, blown numerous opportunities to move up in the draft, lost more than half our season ticket base, and turned Arco into Atlanta North. Such accomplishments would all be empty though unless we cap it by handing the Lakers the Western Conference on a silver platter (actually, we may already have done that, but we will be eager to make sure). Reggie is an old time Lakers fan you know.

So don't you sweat it. Do remind your team to actually show up, because our resident loon will of course be magically healed and healthy and running around like a nut for the game. But don't worry, this wonderful season would not be complete without a Lakers victory just to wrap things up. Oh, and a Kobe MVP. Half our arena chants MVP when he comes to town anyway, so why not?

Best of luck in the playoffs to you as well -- after all the hard work we're putting in here to guarantee Lakers glory, it would be a real disappointment if you blew it and bombed out. Just promise us that when you are hoisting that trophy, you give us a nice little shoutout. Have Kobe shout "Thank you Sacramento!" or some such. It will warm our little hearts while we pour over mock drafts drooling over all the stars we will never have a shot to draft because we are complete bleeping idiots.

how would us winning 1 more game put us in a tie?

Portland is trying to save us from ourselves, and went out and unexpectedly beat the Mavs tonight. So now all we have to do is drop 1 of the remaining 2 to avoid the ultimate "doh" moment.

Hence, since we now need to beat the Lakers on the final game of the season, in L.A., just to have any chance of undoing tonight's barf, I see almost no way of avoiding:

GO SPURS!!! :o

Lose to the Spurs, Beat the Lakers, now becomes almost the only acceptable option over these last 2 games. In fact we proabbly need them to really spank us. Embarrass us. Crush us by 40pts. That way we can shut everybody down in the mid-3rd and rest them for the Tuesday night showdown. And it would also be an interesting test to see what a 40pt play looks like when Reggie calls a timeout in the final minute to mug for the cam...er...I mean draw up a play.

brick,

you reupping your season tix?

Call me crazy, but...

I believe that the Kings should be trying to win as well. Winning actually has several beneficial effects in this situation:

  • Impressing the possible season ticket holders (by the way, has to be a dilemma if you're a season ticket holder wanting the team to lose, huh?) and hopefully driving the sales of season tickets. More fans in the seats = more fans yelling for the team = better Kings play and rattles the other team.
  • Giving the players some more freaking confidence in themselves. Anyone who doesn't see the benefit from a confidence standpoint of beating the number one team in the conference is an idiot, draft pick or no draft pick.
  • Showing the casual fans that this is a team worth watching (and coming to see) next year. Again, the more people yelling the better.
I understand that if the only important thing remaining in this life was to gain the best draft pick possible, then we would be hoping to lose. But it's not the only important thing for this team. Believing that you can win on any given night against any team even without two key starters is pretty important, too. Last night, we showed the doubters, the disbelievers and the naysayers that WE'RE STILL HERE, mofo. A great win for us, in my opinion.

I'd like to think that a lot of "fans" want their team to win whenever possible. In fact, now that I think about it, that might even be the definition of the word.

if they were playing for the future, meaning a) playing the guys who will be staying with us long term b) winning with the future (the kids) ..
i would be all for it. as it stands now, we're just starting to see glimpes (20 seconds or more of the kids) before reggie pulls them out for mistakes.

I like it. We have fans in different camps here. I don't believe either one is 100% right or wrong.

I was at the game last night. It was fun and exciting. Couldn't help but cheer for a win. That is what this fan does. I would not bother to attend if I was hoping for a loss.

I say win them all! These final games could really set the tone for next year. Beating 3 of the best teams in the league will pump our guys up.

...and as long as Portland wins one of their last two, we're cool on the super special #12 pick anyway...

The Blazers last games are; Memphis at home, and Suns away... So ya know their gonna play the Griz hard their last home game of the season. They'll probably drop the Suns, but Griz should def be a win.

WORD!!!!

And next year, I promise to mark ALL my calendars so I don't forget about a game. (And I'll kick for the tickets.) :)

I expected to sit here at home and watch a discouraging game. What I saw was heart and hustle. AND I LOVED IT!

I criticize Ron Artest a lot, so it's only fair I give him major props. Part of the enjoyment of last night for me was watching his enjoyment and that of his teammates - including those stuck on the bench.

And that is the biggest straw man of the latter part of the season. What "KIDS" are you talking about? I'd like specific examples, especially of recent games, or I'm simply going to call shenanigans.

------------------------------------

We're seeing a team come together. And it doesn't matter if some of them won't be back next year. They're planting the seeds of TEAM mentality right now and it could pay huge dividends down the road.

Quite simply...

You have to detach to some degree to want "your" team to lose.

If you are paying to be there in person and detach, that defies logic.

Either way, it starts you down the path to the B word.

Why is everyone saying we are 13th right now? The Kings are 12th.

The 14 teams that don't make the playoffs are in the lottery and will make the first 14 selections in the 2008 draft. The two teams that have a better record right now that aren't in the playoffs are the Blazers, and the Warriors. We have to win the last two games, and the Blazers have to lose the last two (one being at home against Memphis) in order to tie with the Blazers making another one of those coin flip things we lost at last year happen again.

Anyway there are a couple players which we will have to choose from at our selection. We will be fine ;)
