The possibility that Derrick Favors falls to our hands!

well , I don't know if it's s strong wishing or just simple facts , but I do think like we have a really good chance taking Favors at #5.

John Wall and Evan Terner will be #1 and #2 picks respectively.

I think that the Nets will take DMC (DeMarcus Cousins).
As far as I can see it, everytime someone speaks about Monroe, it aims getting DMC. it's like everybody playing the game - I'm not touching DMC, he's red flag, bla bla, but he is #1 in the list of nets kings, warriors and pistons.

Minesota are really crazy about Wesley Johnson and eventhough DF is going to be on the board, they will stick with Wes.

So... with the #5 pick the Sacramento Kings select Derrick Favors !

1. John Wall
2. Evan Terner
3. DeMarcus Cousins
4. Wesley Johnson
5. Derrick Favors

What do you think about it guys ?

I think that they will take Monroe before they take Favors. They will step on all of our dreams by skipping on someone they didn't work out to draft a poorly rebounding Kevin Love light (best case scenario).

Petrie was rumored to be high on Favors as the guy he really wanted from this draft as far back as the end of the regular season.

DeMarcus Cousins is made out to be a red flag by the media.

He needs guidance, that doesn't mean he's a red flag.

Favors will not fall to the Kings. Therefore the decision will be between Cousins and Monroe.

Dalambert will only be here for one year, So they are for sure looking for a parter to Jason Thompson on the low.

DF is our guy!

I'm trully excited from the Samuel Dalembert and Derrick Favors playing together with Landry and JT backup.

Maybe Cousins will lose 70 lbs of fat with that remarkably effective seafood diet of his and end up being a gazelle of a PF? ;)

I had to add the smilie or you never would have known I was jokin

What makes you think NJ would take Cousins? Lopez and him are both centers, and only centers. They won't be able to play together
I agree. But obviously if NJ thinks Cousins is a great prospect/size to pass and there is a possibility for him to develop as a PF ( because he is only 19 years old), they could still gamble and take Cousins over Favors. That would be a formidable frontline for NJ. It could very well match-up the likes of Bynum/Gasol or Gortat/Howard pairing especially if they see themselves contending for championship in near future.

Cousins is not a PF, he's a low block center. If they put him at PF, then he's instantly one of the worst athletes at the 4 in the NBA. There won't be any room for both Lopez and Cousins offensively either, they'll both be greatly hindered by the other. Gasol and Howard are both good enough athletes to handle the 4, and Gasol definitely has the offensive skills to face up and play the high post. The only way they take Cousins is if they are complete morons, or are planning to trade him.

I actually do think Cousins can play PF with some Centers, but Lopez might be pushing it.

What Jersey is doing makes sense. When you have a Russian Billionare owner who wants to win asap, why not draft a swingman you reallly like ( Johnson ) and then use some of that capspace to land a big time FA power forward. With Boozer, Lee, Bosh, and Amare all free agents .. Jersey would certainly be in the mix for one of these guys.

I would think a team of :

Devin Harris
Courtney Lee
Wesley Johnson
(Free Agent PF)
Lopez

With Yi, Terrence Williams, Dooling, and whoever else they sign .. they can absolutely compete for a playoff spot in the east.

I doubt Derrick Favors starts at PF in the NBA right away - unless team selecting him is incredibily thin in the front court. His workouts are now proving just how raw (or at least one dimensional) the Georgia Tech star is unlike Tyreke Evans' workout with the Kings that showed he could (and should) start immediately. Yes, Favors is a top lottery pick be it #3, #4 or #5 - but he's little more than an inside banger finding his way at this point against big boy NBAers roughing him around in the paint like nothing he faced in the SEC. If Favors miraculously falls to Kings (and I hope he or more finished product Cousins does), he's a back-up to the very skilled Carl Landry - at least for a half-season or until next year at earliest.

Adding to your point, the only Centers I can imagine Cousins playing PF next to are
1) Brad Miller
2) Spencer Hawes
3) Ilgauskas
4) Mehmet Okur
5) Bargnani

That's about it ... Notice a certain trait about these centers?

The poit I think we are all missing here is..

...We have a CHOICE between Favors and Cousins!! Whatever falls to us I am sure Petrie will chose the correct guy! In effect, the teams before the Kings will select our draft pick for us! Petrie will choose the best player no matter who falls to us, so it is really a matter of who the teams before us choose. It is very possible that a team like Minny will totally BLOW their draft pick and a great player like Favors drops to us. But the bottom line is I BELIEVE in PETRIE to make the right choice at 5 no matter WHO the player is that fate drops into our LAP! :D I'd love Favors in a Kings UNI! But would I cry if the pick is Cousins? Hell no, but I'd certainly be more concerned about how he was handled by the coach and the front office!

Petrie will draft Monroe tomorrow night and we will all be disappointed because he will have passed up Cousins for him. When is the last time he selected the guy that the fans wanted? Don't forget that last year everybody was ticked off because he didn't pick Rubio. To his defense, he has passed up the fan favorite a few times and hit a home run (see Peja, Tyreke).

Put a guy like Amare into that lineup and thats easily a top 3 seed in the East, just shows how much talent that Nets team has as I think a guy like Lebron would be a fool not to sign there to play with Lopez and Co.

Anyways I really don't see Favors falling to us no way no how and the more I think about it I'm with the group that sees Monroe being taken over Cousins. Ugh at worst we get another guy on the court with a high bball iq, that never hurts right?:(

I could TOTALLY see Petrie picking Monroe if he thinks that A) Monroe is going to be the player the Kings Need and has allstar potential and B) That Petrie believes that Cousins negatives outweigh any advantage he might have over Monroe. If Johnson or Favors falls to the Kings, I think it would be very likely that Petrie would select either of them over Cousins. The truth is, it is VERY hard to find a quality Big, and they are rare indeed. If Cousins or Monroe is perceived by Petrie to be a Quality Big, then Petrie will be inclined to draft them.

Monroe has a lot going for him. He played in a Princeton style offense that Petrie is a big fan of. Monroe is an awesome passing big who can run the Princeton offense from the top of the key. Petrie likes bigs who can pass and have other talents then just banging and dunking. Monroe is a talented basketball PLAYER. He makes those around him better, which is one sign of a great player. I'd be happy if the Kings took Monroe.

Cousins is a true center, who has the physical attributes to succeed in the NBA if he remains teachable and has a competitive fire in him. A lot of people are knocking Cousins for being uncoachable and a bad attitude. However he was never thrown out of a game and never suspended while he was at Kentucky, so if he does have a bad attitude, it was well hidden. Cousins could become an Allstar center. He could become the next great center if he continues to work hard and get stronger. I would not even blink if Petrie chose Cousins.

The Kings don't play the Princeton anymore!!!!!

There's something wrong with a big if the best thing someone has to say about him is that he's a good passer. That's a nice luxury to have out of a big, but when it's what he hangs his hat on, no thanks.

This is really key and well said Vlade... It's something I think people have been missing as of late. If you look at how he drafted and traded for the Princeton team vs. the teams he's been assembling as of late... You will see no similarities.

We have been slowly trading (Hawes, KMart are the main two) and shying away the players that would fit a Princeton offense in recent drafts and acquisitions. Now this could all be blown out of the water if GP drafts Monroe...

The trend we notice now is toughness and defense as the focal point. Tyreke, Dalambert, Landry, Casspi, Donte Greene, Brockman, and JT. All these players can attack the basket for rebounds, they can defend to a certain degree (sometimes better then others). We have slowly been turning around our team from a soft bunch of wusses to people who will not and refuse to be pushed around for the most part. All these players work hard, hustle, and aren't going to be intimidated.

Hey! You stole that directly from me. :p
