No surprise, Magic sell their 35 pick for cash. We essentially punt the rights away to 1st round talents and a bunch of guys who can really help the rotation.

No defending this one. There were some real quality upside swings at this spot and we blew it.

I mean, if they wanted Moore that badly, just get it done. I mean they really had none of these guys on their big board? These aren't the same scouts that thought selecting Justin James was a good idea are they?

Not for nothing but the Kings roster was slotted to only have three open roster spots before factoring in draft picks. (plus two two-ways). Ideally you'd be able to stash those second round players in your two-way slots but you'd still have a chance at losing them when you cut them off the active roster.

With Murray picked, we currently only have two spots open to re-sign DDV and/or Jones to (and only one if Sasha does end up coming over). Obviously there's probably still going to be player movement but we don't even had roster space to bring in a MLE FA right now. Not sure how picking a second rounder would have helped the crunch.

I personally think it's 50/50 if Queta makes it beyond training camp at this point. Plus you have the other deals you can sign guys to.

Man I don’t know, I feel like this was the draft where moving up didn’t really help up since I feel like pistons and pacers got steals in ivey and mathurin and we didn’t leverage our position knowing we didn’t want ivey.

”Leverage our position” is just code speak for “what I wanted them to do”.

There’s simply no winning with some people, just degrees of losing.

Fans complain when the KINGS land in the 6-10 draft range then complain when they move up somehow claiming it to be a bad thing. Unreal.

Guess what?! The KINGS had their choice of Murray, Ivey, Mathurin, and every player drafted afterward. Had they drafted where the Pistons and Pacers were, their options would have been more limited and dependent upon what the teams ahead of them decided to do. Just as they were with ORL, OKC and HOU ahead of them.

Stop your whining because it’s ridiculously stupid. The KINGS weren’t better off drafting 5, 6 or 7.

Beyond the top 3, they got the player they liked most. End of story.

Some of you read too much rumor and gossip and get unrealistic, greedy ideas stuck in your head.

It isn't like we sold the pick off for cash alone. We picked up two future seconds, which Monte has had a history of turning into pieces (TD, Harkless).

I'm not exactly happy we traded out of the pick but it's also not the end of the world, considering what was left on the board (unless you're convinced Liddell is the second coming of Draymond).

I would’ve preferred a good haul…but as is, I’m fine with the pick.

I just hope it was because they thought Murray was the best player rather than a combination of our existing guards and Ivey not wanting to be drafted here. To this point I have no reason to doubt Monte as a talent evaluator in the draft.

As somebody who doesn’t follow college basketball..I go by the highlight reels and breakdowns. I personally like Murray more as a prospect and fit for the Kings…and he’s NBA ready I think.

But ive been wrong before…I didn’t immediately think drafting Bagley over Doncic would prove to be a disaster.

To be fair, 50,000 bay area transplants moving to the region during the pandemic may have played some role in that.

Sure, and the migration is real. But the amount of long time residents vastly overwhelm the amount of new transplants. Yet it seems like they only sell Warriors gear in stores now. All the kids are repping Warriors/Curry gear. They don't play Kings games in restaurants or bars anymore. You don't see any Kings flags or bumper sticks on cars anymore unless they are super worn out. The arena is a ghost town 80% of the time.

To be honest, a big reason why I visit this site is because I don't know many people that care enough about the Kings anymore to discuss them lol, and I've lived here for 26 years.

I've been saying for a while that it would be nice if there were more ways for teams to hang onto their second round picks but obviously the PA wants guys to have the opportunity to move to teams that might play them rather than stashed for 2-3 years in the G-League until they are ready.

I don't know how good Keegan can be but I can tell you he'll be cheaper than John Collins over the next 4 years. I also think he'll be a better defender. As for Kuzma I can't see any scenario where we trade down and land Kuzma and future picks and this fanbase is any happier tonight.

Yeah, the Kings had potentially the best draft selections in a long time in both the 1st and 2nd rounds. They shouldn't have been there with the talent they had. I just feel like they aren't appreciating the potential and the moment nearly enough.

Sure, but a good organization doesn't pass up the chance to grab talented youth so you can keep Alex Len or Moe Harkless on the roster. You get Lyles or Metu out of the way, as much as I do like what they showed. You DFA them and eat the 1 year expiring.

Kings missed the boat here, through and through. Leaving the draft with any of Liddel/Brown/Keels/Hardy along with Murray would have capped a pretty solid night with a good talent infusion upgrade.

Dude isn’t responsible for MB3 over #77 nor the majority of the KINGS draft history and their playoff drought. He’s made 2 very good draft selections (and possibly a 3rd) since landing the job.

I’m going to continue to defer to his wisdom, until proven otherwise, versus those with drastically different day jobs.

Fans complain because this team misses the play-offs year after year and consistently makes short term decisions. Instead of making upside 2nd round picks and developing them like good organizations we consistently sell them.
