If the Kings really believed Richardson is a top flight 2-guard, they trade Hield straight up for the #3 pick.

Then the roster is:

Jackson (at #3)
Fox (at #5)
Skal

Richardson
BPA for whomever is left at #10.

No, I don't know why all y'all are groupings SG's together.
Boston is playing three small guards.
IT, Bradley, Smart on many occasions.
The league is shifting to small ball lineups but we already know that.

2's and 3's are essentially mixing and matching now.

I don't think you can make that play yet. We really don't know what we have in Malachi. Yes, he showed a little promise, but the sample size is so small that I don't think we can be sure yet. As of right now, Hield is better than Malachi and we can't afford to ship out one of our top talents.

Even with our current squad of legitimately sized guards we still would be doing a disservice to ourselves to not add a 3 who can play defense against true SF'S. That's why I like OG so much at #10. He can defend the perimeter and then get out in transition. Things can come together so nicely on draft night and Vlade has shown he can make the right choice in terms of talent evaluation. Heck we don't even know what we have in I. Cousins yet, he played well in Reno and player development is key to success

He's our starting SG for next 5-10 years who happened shoot 60% TS and put up 15 PPG after mid season trade in which he was thrown out there and told to go ball. 3 Top 10 Lottery First Round picks and a high 2nd round pick. And this year's draft is loaded.

2016: #6 pick Buddy Heild
2017: #5 pick (which we would had probably lost in a push for the playoffs).
2017: #10 pick from New Orleans
2017: #34 pick from New Orleans

I think Vlade got a pretty good return on the DMC trade.

I think this rebuild is going faster and as well as anyone could have expected!

One more thing, we also got a ton of cap space now!

Vlade made moves in which all possible outcomes resulted in a win.

If you look close, almost everything Vlade does is about eliminating risk and creating conditions for almost guaranteed improvement, either quickly or slowly and steadily.

Ehhhh, Kings keep DMC they're likely fighting Portland and Denver for the 8th spot right to the very end. A few more wins very likely knocks us from projected 8th pick outside the top 10... and who knows what happens then.

True, we didn't get that pick from NO but the reality is had we proceeded with DMC the most likely outcome would have been outside the top 10 and CHI would have taken that pick. Vlade absolutely factored that in when he made that deal.

Dont know if its been mentioned but its pretty funny how teams that blatantly threw games and benched starters like the suns/magic etc did got hosed in the lottery, the lakers got lucky as always but it was great seeing the suns fall like that.

The team must improve defensively....I think the best pairs for that is Fox/Collins - or Jackson/Frank. And I'd resign Lawson giving him a good contract.

I think I recall Vlade saying as much in a post-trade interview. It seemed a good number of people were focusing on him saying he could have gotten a better deal earlier. I couldn't be happier in the way things have turned out. There might actually be light at the end of the tunnel WITHOUT it being an oncoming train.

I guess I worded it poorly but I was trying to be realistic.

I just don't see any possible way we are anything other than a lottery team in 2018. We're going to have Temple, Kofous, maybe a Collison or Lawson and a whole bunch of young kids that are going to be out of place and lost on the court half the time. I mean at the end of last year, WCS looked like one of our more polished vets and it was only a month or two before hand where he was the guy out there who was lost half the time. That's how far the on court IQ dropped after the Cousins trade.

Me personally, I'm going to be looking at player development more than the W/L column. These young guys are still constantly going to be having to think about where they need to be on the court and that's just not going to translate into many wins. Either way I'm excited to see if Skal can destroy guys in the post and push his shot out to the 3 point line. I'd like to see Papa plug up the paint and flash some of those Gasol like skills. Hield, I'd like to see if last years small sample was a flash in the pan or if this guy is going to get even better. Is Richardson going to be a Lou Williams spark off the bench? Will Bogdan come over and will he be effective like he is in Europe? Is WCS going to continue to show us things we didn't think he even had in him? Will our new rookies show the potential that everyone is expecting from this top heavy draft? There's going to be a lot of things to look for and excited about but I won't be crossing my fingers for wins until after next season.

You are probably correct. However the bottom half (including the lower playoff seeds) of the West isn't as strong as before. The East has made gains. The eighth seed made it in with just .500 ball, that didn't use to be the case. That would only require the Kings to win nine more games than this year (I know most were with Cousins). Could they do it? Probably not but until they play we won't know. Since the team is made up of so much youth and possible potential now, I would prefer for them to come close and get a lower (12-14) lottery pick than suck and get the higher pick.
