The Kings will win the Pacific Division

#1
This is what I thought at the beginning of the season, and I still stand by it.

Most seem to think I'm crazy, and many seem to have already written the Kings off. I personally think it's too early still to do that.

I'm interested in how Kings fans feel. I really think this is a good team, but I also haven't had a chance to watch them yet.

So, what is it? Are the Kings going to win the division and approach 50 wins, or is this season shot? Why do you think so?

I still believe we can! Its been 7 games and it is far to early to call the season shot, but the realistic possibility exists that if this team doesn't at least start showing some forward progress soon then Petrie will be forced to make moves. I doubt they will be along the lines of dumping off players for expiring deals however. Some of that may happen but I doubt it.

Bulls started 0-9 last year and they still ended up in the playoffs...
He was talking about winning the Pacific though. To do that you will most likely have to win 50+ games and if we get behind too early it may be too hard to make up the difference.

I hope they can. I really do. It would be great to see Arco roaring come playoff time, but honestly at this point some changes have to be made. No, in its current form and everyone in some sort of funk they cannot and will not win the Pacific. The improved Clipps and others will make sure of that. Just because it may take some time for this team to be better does not mean others in the division will wait around for it to happen. We need to turn this thing around.

I thought we would take the Pacific Division too at the beginning of the season. I still believe it but doubts are creeping in. I know it is only 7 games in but the first 5 games was some pretty uninspired basketball. I live in SoCal so I don't get to watch all the games. I think if they continue like this for the next 10 games Petrie will make a move and it will be Adelman who is gone. Something like that may make the team wake up and get it together. This morning Marc Stein ranked them #25 in his Power Rankings. There is no way I believe this team is that bad but they just need to get it together!

My 2-cents ...

I never predicted they'd win the Pacific ... my prediction was 4th-5th or 6th in the Western Conference.

I've changed my mind - Kings will be lucky TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

Statistically we have the worst record in the league right now. Wow...it can only go up from here!
Not necessarily ... they could continue their LACKLUSTER PLAY and break the record for worst won/loss season.

But, I doubt that happens .... King's will awaken sometime soon

I too thought they would win the Pacific, and they may still do it, but maybe with Terry Porter as head coach. Why was he there last night?

It really is bad, isn't it? I soo did not want us to go back so quickly to where we were years ago. I just am not ready for that and refuse to believe that are there again. We simply MUST get this figured out. I am a lifer and am "stuck" with them for better or worse, but am still hoping for better.

At this point, I am unconcerned about winning the Pacific. I would be happy if we do and still think it is possible. However, I am more concerned about the general attitude pervading the team. Something is not right and they need to fix it - NOW.

That being said, I am disappointed in us as fans. I understand the frustrations. I feel them, too. IF the things being reported in the BEE as being said by both our fans and the other teams' fans are true, it is sad. We ARE the best fans of a team that, in reality, is not the best right now. If we want people to remember that (without needing to show them our "statue") we need to suck it up and support them, WITHOUT saying horrible things to and about them.

I do not mean that we should not say what we think should happen or about how they are playing, that is one of the "joys" of being a fan. I just think, maybe, it should be less caustic. I hope that we do not lose our class as they seem to have lost their spirit. Chances are, they are going to find that spirit again.

Didn't mean to preach. I just felt like I needed to remind myself that I LOVE THIS TEAM- highs and low.

Although I did not see T.P. there last night. With all of the buzz around sacking R.A. I too was thinking that T.P. would be the next logical candidate in line.
Uh....not that I"m Kreskin or anything ;)

Win the Pacific? If we do, it will be because of the mediocrity of our competitors. Right now we have a LOT of work to do to even make it back into playoff contention, let alone anything more. And Soup, if you haven't watched the team yet -- don't. Its been ugly. And its approaching a breaking point. If we're going to win anything this year, it could be with a radically different looking team or lineup, and if things blow up it would not even shock me to see us dive down into a true rebuilding plan. This curent crew and coach have maybe 5, 10 games at most to make huge strides. Right now we are every bit the lottery team despite the individual talent of the players.

I am of the mindset that they will finish 6-8 in the western conference at best. Same problems with defense and rebounding yet we are worse on offense.

So is New Jersey, Detroit, Cleveland, Indiana, Washington, and Miami??
But last year, as in almost every year in recent memmory, there were only two good teams in the East, and otherwise all you had to be was .500 to be in the playoff hunt.

Point was that its long been harder than that in the West -- could well need 47-48 just to be #8.

man the clippers are 1st in the pacific right now... anything can happen....they could lose their next 4 games and we could win the next 4 and we'd be ahead at 6-5 and the clippers at 5-6.....

though this team is thoroughly pissing me off right now, its still way to early to count them out.... but how'd they lose to the knicks? that and the hornets game should have been gimmies....

damn....

I'm fairly confident that the Kings will win the Pacific.

The Suns won't win it, especially if Amare is out for the year (I've heard this is closer to the truth than the original 4 month scenario).

I don't think the Lakers will be over .500, and the Clippers should soon start to fold.

So that leaves us with the Warriors. If we can beat them in the standings, and I think we can and will, the Kings should be the third, or even second (since the northwest is extremely weak) seed in the west.

Have some faith. Go Kings!

Umm...great comment...

And re: tanking - there's no one in this draft that's going to become a franchise player.

I flipped on the Warrior game tonight and it was nice to see the things the Kings have really lacked lately: defensive intensity, hustle, playing as a team, good passing and a cohesive offense. I've always rooted for the Warriors as underdogs so it'd be nice to see them finally come into their own. If the Kings can't get it together I'll be rooting for the Warriors to make the playoffs this year. Here's hoping the Kings can turn it around.

I think we should tinker with the lineup rather than trade everything..

Maybe take out Wells, start Martin..

Start Skinner at C...

Make Miller the focal point at high post, and Bibby, and Peja primary outside weapons.
