The Kings and Freeagency:

Compared to the rest of the league, they should be in a terrible position to pull it off. They have almost no young prospects worth anything aside from Bynum who is hugely injury prone. The rest of the major players are aging declining talent... yet some how they are always in talks for getting the big name players because a teams like NO are willing to trade a top 3 pg for crap....(I hope its not true). I don't understand how they can conceivably afford to land Paul AND Dwight, but i bet they will do it..

And this is what is so aggravating. No way should they have the assets, outside of Kobe, to make either of these deals.

Ainge is taking another gamble that they can win it all this year with Paul. Pretty steep price though. This is the most recent article, although it was at 9 AM and a lot has changed since then. Still think it's a way better deal than Scola/Martin. I have literally gotten no work done today.

The thing is, I don't necessarily think Chris Paul makes The Celtics a better team. Rondo is great too and has been the perfect PG for them.

Not related, but looks like CP3 is going to the LAL for Gasol and Odom. Looks like no Dwight to LA. Actually think this makes them worse. Kobe is getting pretty old, maybe has another year or two at a high level. Bynum is always injured. CP3 has yet to prove he's fully recovered from the knee injury.

Cousins will have a field day against them, lol. At least I hope.

That's not bad news. A CP3/Gasol/Kobe Lakers scares me less than a Kobe/Bynum/Gasol/Odom Lakers. Of course, The Lakers could always just sign Howard in 2012 in free agency and if they do, look out NBA, we might have to deal with another five or six years of Laker dominance. Blah, the very thought makes Me cringe. I'd rather see the Heat winning titles TBH.

Edit: Grant is saying it's Gasol and Odom, not Bynum and Odom.

I corrected my post. Original tweet said Bynum. Actually Gasol and Odom. Which I think is worse for the Lakers. So it'd be a CP3/Kobe/Bynum affair. Looks better on paper than in reality, imo.

Kobe is pretty old, with few years left. Bynum is always injured. CP3 is coming off a serious knee injury, and has yet to regain quickness/explosiveness. I like this, for us.

What I'm wondering is if it comes with Chris Paul signing an extension. If not they're taking a pretty big gamble.

Unless they turn around and deal Bynum for Howard, which has been their goal all along. Still not sure howI Gasol and Odom and is better than the other offers. Pretty shady especially considering the NBA is running the Hornets.

Good point.

Not only that but I'm not sure Kobe can coexist with a PG like Chris Paul. Kobe has never played with a scoring PG before.

Hornets working to finalize details on 3-team deal to send Chris Paul to Lakers, Gasol to Rockets and Odom, KMart, Scola to NO, sources say.

Yup. And they don't have a low post threat. Bynum isn't consistent, and rarely played in 4th quarters at the end. If they get Dwight, he's not a 4th quarter low post scoring option. 4th quarter scoring will be perimeter oriented, which is great for everyone else. Kobe can't simply carry a team offensively anymore, as last year showed.

Kobe has never really played with a PG before since I'm pretty sure you need to do something other than exist to be considered one.

So while the Rockets are going big with Gasol and likely Dalembert, we want to go short and stubby.

Sometimes I question the direction of this franchise. Bring on Burkle I say!

With everything going on, I'm starting to think Dalembert has a better chance at staying with us now? He hasn't been getting brought up much at all.

Doubt they go for both. Pau likely takes Houston out of Sammy Sweepstakes

I was thinking about that. Hou just lost their #1 and #2 scorer. Yes the got Gasol, but don't they now need more offense? Aside from Gasol, who can score for them? Also wondering where their cap space now stands.

Would not be surprised if they now get into MT23 sweepstakes

There's a part of me that fears that Geoff is back into rudderless mode, adding middling talents on $5 million deals that do nothing but help this team tread water in mediocrity.

That is a scary prospect if true. But the scarier thought is if this team is intentionally being passive and not trying to contend. If we have owners who are just playing the waiting game to see if they get their way and can move to Anaheim at season's end then perhaps there's no desire to be competitive this season.

And if the arena funding is in place and the Maloofs are "forced" to stay, what prevents them from being the Donald Sterlings of Northern California and focusing on a profit over victories?

Looks like Houston is out of the deal.

Its reportedly a direct deal between Lakers and Hornets - CP3 for Gasol and Odom
The Gasol to Hou is separate, but all reports suggest agreed upon. NO doesn't want Gasol. Looks like CP3 to LA was just confirmed. Should expect the NO/Hou deal later.

Don't jump to conclusions! Lets see what happens...if Dalembert ends up going elsewhere, I don't see us sitting on Hickson/JT/Cousins big man rotation, I see a trade for another big(even if Hayes deal works out). I don't see Thornton going anywhere else, btw.

According to twitter

SHowardCooper Scott Howard-Cooper
RT @Jonathan_Feigen: WIth deal, Rockets would go from $8 to $11 mil in cap space. Can make it $16 with amnesty cut. Still in mix for Nene.

Hopefully wolves up their offer on Hayes and we keep Dally but will believe it when I see it :(

wouldnt it have to be 3way deal or NO could not trade Gasol for a while to Hou?
