The Kings and Freeagency:

Warriors have offered Tyson Chandler 4yrs/60 million. If he accepts, Warriors will have to amnesty Biedrins. Kings could bid for him, shouldn't take much. AB still has some talent, he just lost all of his confidence the last season and a half, mostly because of Don Nelson. He's a guy that might make a comeback if he changes laundry.

If that's the case, I'm glad The Kings are not making him an offer. I'd love to see Chandler on the team but there's just no way he's worth 15 million a year in my opinion. As far as I can tell Chandler is no better than Perkins and Perkins makes half that. If someone is willing to pay Chandler 15 million, more power to him but I'm glad it isn't The Kings. Giving near superstar money to non-super star players is not a winning formula.

So now that it looks like Chandler may be off the market (thank god for us, at $14-15 mill per), could we possibly make a run at pairing Cousins with a young, cheaper shotblocker in DeAndre Jordan? He would certainly go for less than the asking price of more accomplished guys like Chandler and Dally, yeah?

It's amazing to me how reactionary people are. Before last June no one would have dreamed of giving Tyson Chandler 4/60 but now that his team wins a title suddenly he's the greatest thing since sliced bread even though he put up the same less than amazing number last year that he has his whole career. It's like people think they can just plug him into any team now and duplicate what happened in Dallas, lol.

Actually now the latest has the Warriros thinking they can't get Chandler either because somehow the Knicks are going to get involved. No idea how that's going to work moneywise for them. Prince is apparently going back to the Pistons, which makes no sense at all for either party, but just puts extra pressure on the market. Battier to the Heat.

In any case I will just repeat what I've said before, we'll do well here in this free agency period to just resign our own guys and snag one helpful piece. Too much activity out there, the big markets have too much leverage, and too many teams in the market and with the ability to suddenly free room via amnesties. It would behoove us to try to strike early before the dominoes start falling and teams shut out suddenly start turning to our guys. We've got the money, jsut spedn the damn stuff and let's get this thing going.

Knicks will try to trade Billups/Turiof or amnesty one to free space.

"It's 98 percent sure that Tyson is going to wind up with the Knicks."

To create sufficient salary-cap space to sign Chandler, New York is expected to shed the contracts of Chauncey Billups and Ronny Turiaf, through either trades or the forthcoming amnesty clause.

Signing Chandler, sources said, could free up the Knicks to offer star forward Amare Stoudemire to the New Orleans Hornets in a trade scenario for Chris Paul, who badly wants to reunite with Chandler after their time together with the Hornets. Sources say that's one option New York is considering.

This would be great news as far as I am concerned

It might keep Chandler and Paul out of our division

Cool. Hopefully no ring for Lebron, ever.

NYK probably jumping the gun on Chandler. Should wait for next season to sign Paul, S&T Amare (or Carmelo) to Orlando for Howard.

hoopshype: "Chandler is expected to be a knick, sources say. Could be a straight up S&T with Dallas or three team trade involving Denver or Sac"

Interesting, to say the least....

They obviously need the Kings cap space. This will be huge in determining whether Dalembert comes back or not. Kings are in the catbird seat, so they better get something good back if they help make that trade/signing happen for NYK.

Assuming we would just be used for salary purposes, I wouldn't be surprised if we got Turiaf out of that deal ... or possibly Brendan Heywood? It would be easy to expect a big back if Hayes goes to the Wolves.

I'd be more in favor of getting into that Chris Paul deal and possibly landing Okafor.

My guess:

Turiaf, a pick, maybe Cisco for Fields?

One year rental on Billips while Jimmer develops? use cap space this year, mentor for Jimmer, frees 14 mil next year after Billips gone?

Reke at the 2, Billips at the one, thorton 3rd back court

maybe trade off extra SF?

Sounds like Dallas may take Billups in a S&T - so not much the Kings cap$ can do to help - we'll see soon enough.

Better hope this happens, because LAL are working on a deal that would send Pau to HOU, Martin/Scola to NO and Paul to LAL. Then they are looking to deal Bynum to ORL for Howard. What a joke if this happens.

Yeah that would be pretty darn discouraging as a Kings and Celitcs fan. Historically though The Lakers have always managed to pull off big moves like this. If you make a top 10 all time player list, half of them were Lakers. It sucks if you're not a Laker fan but honesty, I'm not going to be that upset if the Lakers get Paul and Howard because I pretty much expected they would anyways. They're in the perfect position to pull it off. Howard and Paul would surely sign extensions if they were going to the Lakers and The Lakers have enough to give to NO and Orlando to make it happen. I hope to God it doesn't happen but if it does, I won't be at all surprised.

Yeah can't say it would totally surprise me. What p*sses me off though is that there are better deals out there to be had. BOS has already said that they would offer Rondo, 1st round pick and Green for an un-extended Paul. GS would give Ellis, Udoh and Thompson for an un-extended Paul and LAC have insane packages they could offer that center around Gordon, Aminu and Jordon, MIN unprotected 1st...not to mention they could sign Howard outright next year. The whole "Lakers being able to continually reload because players bully their way there" thing is wearing thin. Oh well.

Wow, if that's true, that's just insanity. No player is worth that un-extended.

Lovely.

Prince and Butler, two guys a like more than Salmons, both signed deals for less than we're paying Salmons.

Prince 4/27
Butler 3/24
I would much, much rather had amnestied Salmons, and offered Prince that amount. Oh well, will never know....

ok so per marc stein

Marc Stein: One source w/knowledge of Mavs' thinking adamant Dallas does not want to take back Billups' expiring deal in Tyson Chandler sign-and-trade Twitter -- hoopshype site

So if no sign and trade, and Billips real irate that he my get amnesty even cautions to Wire-bidders "beware"

so the other side of the OR may have to be a three way trade with Denver and Sac?

So still wonder what kind of 3-way trade was suggested - Hmmmmm

Ainge is taking another gamble that they can win it all this year with Paul. Pretty steep price though. This is the most recent article, although it was at 9 AM and a lot has changed since then. Still think it's a way better deal than Scola/Martin. I have literally gotten no work done today.

Compared to the rest of the league, they should be in a terrible position to pull it off. They have almost no young prospects worth anything aside from Bynum who is hugely injury prone. The rest of the major players are aging declining talent... yet some how they are always in talks for getting the big name players because a teams like NO are willing to trade a top 3 pg for crap....(I hope its not true). I don't understand how they can conceivably afford to land Paul AND Dwight, but i bet they will do it..

Not a huge fan of Dunleavy, but I'd rather have him and his 2yr 7mil deal than Salmons.
