Too early to blow up the core, but after 20-25 games it will make sense depending on results, chemistry, etc. Also, I think its fair to consider a coaching change as part of the equation. i.e. either trade one or more core players and/or replace Adelman.

I've seen many boxers get knocked down early in the fight, and then come back to finish STRONG !!!!!!!!! DON'T THROW IN THE TOWEL, YET ! How' s the weather where a lot of you people are................FAIR.......I BET.

Miller sulking

It's too early to start eliminating anyone yet. Give them time to learn each other and get their timing down and know what to expect from one another. Miller though, needs to quit his SULKING when he percieves a bad call on him. It cost a turnover the other night by stepping on the line on an inbound pass.

That's not really fair.

A lot of fans agonize to the point of near-hysteria with every loss and celebrate each win as though it was game 7 revisited.

Right now, this is a very hard time for a lot of us who have followed the team through the HORRIBLE years up to the IT MIGHT BE GETTING BETTER years to the HOLY CRAP WE'RE GOOD years to the actual WE COULD REALLY WIN years. It's hard to go back to realizing we may have to lower our expectations again.

That's not to say we don't love the team. It's not to say there are a plethora of "fair weather" fans around.

It's an emotional time. The real "fair weather" fans are already gone IMHO. They aren't going to even bother coming to our board any longer. They're already at "Newestnbadarlings.com"...

Have a little patience with us, hoodie. We DO love our team. Sometimes, the only way to deal with the disappointment is to vent on a message board. At least on this people don't throw feces, etc. on a regular basis.

;)

I would think one would wait until the summer's free agents could be traded to look to get maximum flexibility. I don't think that's until mid-December. So if we're not .500 by then, it's overhaul time.

as much as i like each of them individually, they are not suited well for each other anymore.
this is becoming very evident.

I would just love to see the "trade bibby" proponents faces when he's on another team lighting us up.

Give this team some time. I'm not saying all the way to the offseason or even the all star break, just at least 15-20 games. Besides, what moves are we gonna do that will make us true contenders? The only thing I'm in support of( only because I just read the thread and I also must add that I didn't really read enough to believe it) is the fact that peja wants out to go to chicago either via offseason signing or trade this year. Get rid of him before he leaves us and were left with nothing. I am not in support of paying him the max.

Bibby was a close second. For everything he gives on the floor he gives up as well...and then some. He needs to play on a team with a shot-blocker to cover him when he gets beat off the dribble. We need more athleticism, defense, rebounding, foot speed (transition D) and shooting percentage at both positions.

So why trade Bibby instead of trading other pieces to get us that shotblocker?

Of the "core," I think that Mike's qualities (when he's playing at his best, which he hasn't yet this season) would be the hardest to replace.

They need more time, but if I had to choose, it would probably be a toss up between Peja and Brad. Brad's limitations in the paint defensively are just to glaring to dismiss. Still he is unbelievably talented.

Agreed. Bibby and Brad seem like they'd be the hardest to replace, but both have their glaring errors. But I think those errors make them the easiest to complement. Bibby needs a lockdown defender and ballhandler next to him at the SG (like Christie was) and Brad needs to be paired with a big, athletic shotblocker (like Jermaine). I'm also becoming more and more on the Brad for PF bandwagon, but any 6'10, 6'11 shotblocker would be nice.

Those traits, combined with Peja's contract situation, make me think Peja should be the one to go, ideally for a players in the molds above. As I said before, the team should wait until Dec 15, not only to wait for this summer's FAs to be tradeable, but also so we can get a few more games with the new players to see what they can bring.

Of course, we also seem to have a hole in the heart area as well. I don't think a Peja trade alone would solve that, and I'm not sold that a coaching change would either.

I have to address the bandwagoning thing. As a Laker fan my whole life, I became a King fan in 99 because of the great style of play. I don't live in Sacto, but I bought into the style. Completely! I have been committed since. The style is gone. I'm watching tonight, but the Kings aren't entertaining these days.

I haven't suffered hometown blues like Kings fans, but I was thoroughly abused in SoCal during the tough years against the Lakers (as was my little boy). I stayed with them, and kept on board up until now, because they still played a great brand of basketball. Even, at times, last year. At their best with these guys - well....Shoot, I hope they look good tonight.

A key stat I brought up on this board at one time was Assists to Fouls. Kings were always in the 25 to 17 range in favor of Assists over fouls. Virtually nobody in the league played like that. No one. Especially the Lakers. In fact, most of the teams were (and still are) the other way around. Check the box scores, good teams (entertaining teams) are usually higher in assists to fouls. The Kings are firmly entrenched now in a standing, dribbling, horrendous defense mode. They don't have enough talent. They can't shoot, and they don't have a superstar young kid in the making on the bench..

The problem with the trade thing is: I don't think the Kings players are in demand. Seriously, Miller-Bibby-Peja are flawed. How do the Kings get a star for one of them? All three guys are B level players now, and unless teamed with a superstar, they aren't going to excel. Example Lakers + Bibby = Pacific Champs.

I have no solution. I don't know that a trade will get us a star in return. Why should it?

Whether this team struggles or not, Peja should be traded at some point before the deadline due to his contract. For the first time since Geoff came here, I have no clue what his vision for this team is. Moving Webber only makes sense if you package Peja with one of those "moveable pieces", which should have went down this summer. Now, we are not privy to behind the scenes stuff, but the longer Peja is on this roster, unsigned, the worse it is for us.

Bibby is a borderline All-Star PG when he has a guy like Webber (KG) on the team, and fairly mediocre without. If Geoff doesn't plan to replace Webber any time soon, he may as well try to move Bibby's contract, which grows more ridiculous by the game.

Brad is a nice player, and crucial to the Princeton set. But his lack of conditioning/weight training makes him extremely injury prone, and he's not getting younger. As with Peja and Bibby, if he can packaged, why not?

This was my reasoning for moving Bibby. He can't seem to excel without his "Webber". I don't see SAR as a "Webber". They both have very different skills. After reading everyone's posts and choices I have come to a conclusion: These three have similar weaknesses (defense) and similar strengths (offense). Their styles of play no longer compliment eachother, and as long as equal talent was recieved, it really wouldn't matter which one was traded. Keep Bibby/Peja-Get a real shotblocking defensive center. Keep Peja/Miller- Get an initiating distributing point guard. Keep Miller/Bibby-Find a shooter who creates his own shot.

If we trade peja, then we need to get someone who is capable of drawing double teams or atleast lots of attention. Peja affects the spacing on the floor even in the 4th qtr when he is extremely inefficient. If we get someone not that good, then bibby is going to be pressured more and doubled team which I am not sure he can handle.

Trading Bibby on the other hand to get a true PG means that we wont have that cluch shooter on the team. The only hope of this working out is if SAR or bonzi have that clutch gene in them. This can probably be evaluated in the next 15 games.

If we trade brad, i think we are doomed offensively. Even with his shortcomings, he sets up the offense beautifully. We suck when we start playing 1-1 basketball and start turning the ball over.

Pejas contract situation makes him the guy that has to go. Otherwise he may go anyway after this year and we will get nothing in return. If that happens, Trading Chris and not moving Peja last year when we could will be an even bigger mistake then it already is.

and that would be hard to do!;)
