Melvin Ely and Lanny Smith. They were the two other DNPs of the Laker game. If you're keeping their company, you better take some strong ammonia salts and wake up, Donte Greene. Otherwise, you're going to just be Melvin Ely or Lanny Smith in a couple of years...
From Westphal:
I didn't play (Greene) tonight. That's a fact. We played those other guys. I thought (Casspi) did pretty well. It's not like he's going to shut Kobe down, but he did a respectable job making Kobe take some shots that were tougher than they should have, so it was good."
Is it a strong possibility he gets sent to the D-League? He couldn't possibly be cut?
Could be! I'm not sure whats going on, but Donte seems to have fallen quickly out of grace. Either that, or there's a trade in the works that he's a part of and they don't want to risk injury. Hey, maybe Donte and Gerold Green can open a nice Resturant/Bar together.. They can call it something orginal like," Donte's Inferno". Or, "The Green Smile". Or "The Dreams End"![]()
On the bright side, it's better that Greene gets the strong message now, at the beginning of his second year, than next year. I'm totally with Westphal not playing him if he hasn't earned the time in practice. Greene still has time, but the clock is ticking....
At this point, Donte should be the first to arrive at the practice facility and the last to leave, with nothing but hard work in between. Some players never seem to understand how hard the truly great players work, on any pro sports team. I'll guarantee no one outworks Kobe or LeBron.
As the great golfer and golf analyist Ken Venturi once said. " Its funny, the more I practice, the luckier I get ".![]()
Well, Westphal told him he's got to work on defensive improvement, because that's likely to be what gets him minutes. He is the worst tweener of all. I hate to say it but, he is sounding more and more like douby every time i hear his name. Donte benched, Donte can't rebound, Donte is a 4???!!!, Donte needs more time. It is the saddest of stories, but it is true for more than 1/2 of the men who are drafted by the NBA. He could turn it around...all he needs is 50 lbs and a post move and he is worth 60 million dollars by Petrie's standards.

.......is Donte capable of getting the message?
