The Boxing Thread.

I thought the fight was announced as a done deal. I love the way boxing works sometimes.

Should be a great fight, Floyd is always more impressive when pressed but I wouldn't bet against Pac-Man right now.
 
Other than the fact that it's somewhat insulting to Pacquiao (and there's been plenty both ways), that kind of testing should be the standard for every big time fight.

Yeah, it sure is. That's what I was trying to point out. He has been tested for steroids before and after each fight he had in Las Vegas and came out negative, so I don't understand where they are getting this notion that Pacman is taking something.

And I wonder why after the pacman has agreed to the fight, they suddenly changed their mind about one of the proposed venue and asked for olympic type testing(which is tantamount to saying that Pacquiao is cheating)?

Mayweather may be a great fighter, but i have no respect for him.

Time to blow the dust off this thread.

First I must say MONEY Mayweather is so much fun to watch. He might not have finished his last few, but I love watching the guy box. Incredible talent. The slow motion views of him ducking and dodging everything thrown at him is just amazing.
Also, Mosley showed a ton of heart in the fight tonight. A lot of respect has to go to him as well.

But to the more important matter at hand...Money and Mosley just fought under Mayweather's Olympic-style blood/urine test demand he originally had for Pacquiao. Money won this fight in convincing fashion, then said all Pacquiao has to do is to agree with his terms and the megafight is on.

My question...Since Mayweather just won on his terms against Mosley, does that put the pressure on Manny to accept and take the fight under Mayweather's demands?
What do you think if Pacquiao says no again?

It is going to be interesting these next few months.

First of all, my hats off to Floyd, he showed that he is still on top of his game and made Mosley look very old.

With a big fight looming between him and Pac, only the olympic-style drug testing is in the way. As was mentioned before Pac, was not disagreeing with the testing, he was just disagreeing with the timeframe. Anyway, if Mayweather is serious with the blood testing, and truly believes that what he is doing is for the good of boxing, he should bring the matter to the NSAC. He can file a petition, as was mentioned by the comission, so that the testing can be applied to ALL boxing matches done in Las Vegas and not only on Mayweather fights.

And about your last question, I would be disappointed but I wouldn't think that Pac is hiding something since I believe that he is clean until proven otherwise.
 
Take the damn test manny. Lots of money on the table too. What's funny is that after all the controversy with Floyd he ends up calling him out AFTER he agreed to fight clotty. I'm willing to give manny the benefit of the doubt but come on man just take the test. And 15 days before the fight too. He's obviously put on a lot of size in the last few years and the way he's still fresh and bouncing around after throwing over 1200 punches against clotty makes me wanna say red flag! So prove me wrong manny, take the test and let's get the show rolling!

The thing is, Manny doesn't need to prove anything. He has been tested extensively in all his fights(though not Olympic style drug testing), he has come out clean. And regarding his weight, he did not actually balloon up like most people say. You always have to look at his weight on fight night, it is always the same, even when he fought Clottey at Welterweight.

And it was also documented that on his first fight against Morales, he was forced to give blood a day before the fight, and he lost that fight. And his conditioning has always been the same, he's always relentless with his punching even during later rounds, with Clottey even moreso since he was not getting punched back. All the people who had seen him train, always said that they have not seen anyone train like Manny.

Like everybody else I would love to see these two guys go against each other, but i'm not ready to label Pacquiao as a cheater. If NSAC implements Olympic style drug testing and Pacquiao still refuses, then maybe that time I would have doubts.

Cintron losing after 3+ rounds and tumbling to the floor then getting injured should not be ANYTHING other than a draw.

It is BS, terrible, awful...Im pissed.
 
I've followed Pacquiao's career even before he started fighting for World titles. Two of his loses came when blood was drawn from him at a time too close to the fight.

One was when he fought a Thai boxer and he came overweight close to the weigh in and his handler has to take some blood from him to speed up losing weight. He got knocked out badly on that fight.

The other was with the Morales fight I believe where he also lost.

So I wouldn't blame Manny if he will disagree to such terms done by Mayweather. And Mayweather agreed to 14 days cut which is not really still olympic style since some stamina boosting drugs can even be drained out of the body within 24-46 hours.

Mayweather's plea is pure BS and nothing but a loser's reason to skip the beating. So skip the those terms let the commission do its job. Even the greatest boxers of all time has claimed their honors with just the commission's rules. So suck it up Floyd and just fight!

Yup, I agree. It should have been a draw or at least a No Contest. The state of boxing is at an all time low right now, IMO. A fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather should inject some life into it though.
 
Who are you taking in this fight? I'm a big PacMan fan so im taking him. Mosley is gonna be more challenging that all his previous fights. But who knows, i just dreamed and mosley knocked out pacman lol

Not really a fan of either but Pac Man always impresses me, Mosley not so much but to be fair I haven't really watched the latter part of his career since he's reinvented himself. I still think Pac has fought better and takes this one though.
 
I suspect the entire population of the Philippines is going to try to watch this. Now watch the ad on this thread change to a filipino dating service. That's the way Google works. They direct ads towards subject that contain pertinent words.

Pacquiao will be the first to stop Shane. Too much stamina, speed and power. Mosley has a chance if he lands something big in the first three rounds but I don't see it happening.

Manny will punish him more and more as the fight goes on. Although I don't envision Mosley being straight KO'd, I think the ref will stop it or the towel will be thrown in due to the volume of punches he will take. Pacquiao is in fantastic shape, he's stronger than he's ever been. That said, Mosley looks in absolutely fantastic shape too. But his age has to take a toll on his ability. He's not the Mosley of old, although still dangerous.

Agreed. Manny 7.0-1.0 favorite or 8.5-1.0 depending where you look at odds has too much for Mosley. I won't pay $55 for this type of relatively lopsided fight but some friends are headed to Thunder Valley Casino to watch it on big screen for $25 or $20 if Key Club member.

Very disappointing. Manny showed him far too much respect. Easily could have KO'd Mosley if he'd upped the pace. They were too friendly in there - that's not what boxing is about.

Perhaps Mayweather will see a weakness and we'll finally get the fight that everyone wants.
 
Disappointingly boring. I got excited after the early KD and thought Shane would be put away and dropped everything else I was doing and then it became kind of a snoozefest until that weird slip/push whatever it was.
 
You can't fight when one guy is running away. Too bad the fees are determined before the fight and there is no requirement that a boxer has to fight to earn it. How many times did Shane actually land a solid punch? 3 times in the fight? It may not have looked like Manny was doing much but if you looked at Shane's face after the fight, Manny did something. You leave yourself open lunging at a guy who is backing up.

I loved the knock down of Manny. Shane stepped on his foot accidently and shoved him down. It appeared as if when he figured he was standing on Manny's foot he might as well push him and see how the official judged it.
 
There's no reason anyone should have thought this would be a decent fight. Mosely is terrible. He talks a good game and makes you think he's in better shape than he really is. We all saw what Flloyd did to him last year. He got one good hit in and completely lost all strength in his legs after that and he was really gassed too. Mayweather may have woken up after that and began wailing on him. He usually doesn't fight offensively but he really took it to mosely. I think Flloyd holds back on his offensive prowess because he doesn't really need to. He'll have to fight offensively if he wants to beat PacMan.

Who would you guys take in that fight? I'd pick Flloyd to win it, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
