Bump. What do people think of the upcoming fight tomorrow night? Looking back over the last few posts, it seems Manny is strong favourite here. I think he'll probably win by KO, but I seriously wouldn't be surprised if Hatton KOs Manny. I think this one is going to be a stoppage. Does Manny have the power? I think he does. Hatton certainly does. I think Manny may just have a better chin, though.

It depends, if Hatton can get on the inside, I can see him being too strong. Of course, Manny will be dancing all night, so it won't be too easy. Hatton could easily drain Manny with some tough body shots. It's just hard to call. I think Manny will take it, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

Don't know who I want to win. I genuinely like both fighters. Both are very likable outside the ring.

I don't need to rehash my thoughts on Hatton. I think Manny takes this and I hope it isn't even close. We'll see.

I still don't understand your strong dislike for Hatton, but I digress.

I'll be rooting for a good fight first and foremost, and I'd probably prefer if Hatton wins. That said, I really won't be upset if Manny takes it (and I think he will).

While I've given my reasons for disliking Hatton on numerous occasions, do I even need them? If I just said I don't like his face and want to see it get punched up, wouldn't that be as valid a reason as any?

Of course, but this is a discussion board. Was just making a comment, nothing malicious.

I know you weren't being malicious, I just wanted to point out that I gave some in-ring rationale for why I dislike him even though I think its unnecessary. Why do we like any one team and hate another? I grew up a Red Sox fan, rooting against a team or player is every bit as natural as rooting for one :)

So... yeah. I rest my case against Hatton.
You were right. I did say that I thought Manny would win, but certainly not like this.

Hatton is just a level below the elite guys like PBF and Manny. I don't think he's coming back from this. He's taken on the best in the world, gave it everything, and still came up way short. I don't see the point in coming back.

Thankfully he was OK. It was hard to watch his girlfriend when he was sprawled out like that. He's had a great career, he can be proud of himself, but time to hang up the boots.

Manny is ridiculous. Proven P4P best. I'd love to see him against Mayweather. He wouldn't get to him half as easily, but I'd still fancy Pacman.

WOW...

That being said when you watch the fight a few times Hatton looks so basic in the ring with just about zero head movement. Hatton could not have been more tailor made for Pac-Man. Money May vs Pac-man this year hopefully.

#73
what did I say? Hatton keeps an opening in his face all the time. Freddy roach mentioned it after the fight. I think I should be a boxing analyst! Haha ;)

Mayweather, Jr will beat marquez and we'll have a pacman/mayweather fight in December. That will probably be the most hyped fight ever! Can't wait

PacMan is definitely the most exciting guy to watch right now but he's not unbeatable. He has trouble against the more defensive minded fighters so I'm not sure I'd favor him over Floyd and I suspect that fight would actually wind up being pretty boring for the casual fan.

#75
Agreed. Manny is brilliant to watch. He is so fast and skilled. I really like Freddy Roach, too.

Who's next for PacMan? Obviously a match-up with PBF should be on the cards, but Roach has said he's not going to sit and wait for him. He wants another fight for Manny around November/December, which would make Pacman/Mayweather fight off until sometime next year.

Roach mentioned Mosley or Cotto, if they'll come down in weight.

I'd like to see Manny-Cotto. I've never been a huge fan of Cotto but if he beat Pac Man it would change my mind. They could fight at 147 since Manny has shown he's capable of fighting there. I am not sure I'd be interested in seeing him fight Mosley until after he fights Floyd.

Why's that? Genuine question - I'm no expert on boxing. Isn't Mosley quite old? Waiting a year or two, he'll be past it, won't he?

And Cotto, I've only seen him a limited number of times, but would it be accurate to say he's almost a better version of Hatton? I know their styles aren't identical, but I see Cotto as a guy with alot of strength and workrate.

I think that Floyd-PacMan establishes the fighter of the decade. Throwing Mosley into the mix is high-risk no reward. Have the winner fight Mosley as gravy on top of all that, it will still be a huge pay day but won't wreck the fight everyone wants.

Cotto will come right at you and I guess you could say he is a bully of sorts which perhaps makes him comparable to Hatton. I'd rather watch Cotto fight. The big question that fighting PacMan would answer is whether he's really that powerful or if he's just making the right fights. His biggest win is Mosley and his only loss is now under question thanks to Margarito being caught with loaded gloves when he fought Mosley. This would be a good fight, it could ruin a Floyd-PacMan matchup as well, but Cotto-Mayweather would be good too.

What a rookie mistake by Hatton. He's so robotic, how the hell did he win so many bouts with this style?? He's tough as nails, Manny got him good a couple of times and it didn't even phase him, but man if you're going to keep dropping your hands what do you expect? There is no need for a tune up fight... have Mayweather fight a scrub and give him Manny 4 months after that. Millions for everybody.

JMM is hardly a scrub.

Anyone see the Showtime card tonight?

Nate Campbell quit tonight when he realized he could get a no decision and then threw a fit when the ref didn't rule it a butt. While Campbell may have a case the reality is he was getting swarmed for 3 straight rounds and knew he was in for a long night. He'll probably gets the decision reversed but I think he deserves the loss.

Does Tim Bradley always wear the colors of the nearest sports team? I've only seen this fight and the one in Montreal wear he came out in Habs colors.

I don't think Paulie got robbed by anyone but the 118-110 judge who also scored the first fight a shut-out.

I had it 115-113 Diaz, on the basis of his 3:2 power punch ratio and higher connect percentage. Paulie did throw more jabs and pitty-pat combos but they really had limited effect except on the eye damaged by an incidental butt. To be fair, Diaz's power punches didn't pack much of a wallop either, but I don't think either fighter controlled the fight enough to make the other guy fight his fight so I'd have been fine with just about any close score.

The one thing this fight proved to me was that both of these guys shouldn't be headlining fights on HBO nor in any serious championship picture.

PM got robbed.. 118-110? Give me a break.. How could PM win a fight when one judge has that 118-110, and another had it 116-112 for Diaz?

EVEN if I gave all the close rounds to Diaz I still had PM winning the fight 115-113. My scorecard was 117-111 for Paulie.

Come on... Diaz had like 30 seconds a round where he would do something.. The other 2:30 PM was putting on a boxing clinic. Those judges were in De La Hoyas pocket, and I can't wait for Diaz to get KTFO by JMM again if they fight.. Diaz is trash.

Look, in my book 1 clean hook to the head or body is as good as 3-4 pitty pat jabs or combos eaten up by the guys arm. They're both B-level fighters that should be on Friday Night Fights in my book. This was a close fight either way, if you had it 117-111 that's just as bad as the other judge.

What do people think of Mayweather - Marquez tonight? Gotta go for Mayweather here. I like Marquez and wouldn't rule out an upset, but I think PBF will win by KO unless he shows alot of ring rust.

What do you think of the Pacquaio - Cotto match? I think it is easily the fight of the year. I did not think Pac would dominate Cotto the way that he did, although I picked him to win the fight. I think the doubters will not find any excuses with this match the way they did when Pacquiao demolished Diaz, ODLH and Hatton. The next logical fight would be Mayweather - Pacquiao, but I have the feeling that 'Money' will overprice himself out of the fight.

money wont do it, he knows pac is another few steps up in terms of opponents. He should and if he does i expect pac to come out blazing and money to be on the defensive, fighting and wearing down manny if anything.

Id love to see that fight
