Montas, who turns 33 in March, had Tommy John surgery Sept. 9 and is expected to miss the 2026 season. Because of his contract and health, he is expected to pass through waivers and be released.
“Here” as in Sacramento or just a general “here”?
"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help!"
Will you become a fan of a different team? Or will you just become a fan of baseball in general?I'm pumped to hear this. I was thinking he might slide over to 3B eventually given SS will most likely belong to De Vries or Wilson and the hot corner is where his arm would have the most impact. If he can hold his own as a starter it would make more sense to have him DH on his non-pitching days and rest the arm. The A's also have a 19 year old switch-hitting shortstop named Edgar Montero who raked in the Dominican League last year (1.063 OPS in 55 games) and should make it to Stockton at some point this year. He may eventually be the guy who takes over at 3B.
I still don't think I can bring myself to watch the A's anymore once they officially land in Las Vegas, but there is a ton of talent in the pipeline for their fans to be excited about.

7/$70 sounds like it's going to be an absolute steal down the road. Whoo.
By this precedent, Kurtz is going to get like 8 years/100 million which would have a chance to be the best contract in sports history. I’m not sure why these agents are letting the A’s lowball them and agreeing to these deals like this but as someone who’s decided to still root for the A’s for as long as they’re still in California, I like it.7/$70 sounds like it's going to be an absolute steal down the road.
