[MLB] The “Sacramento” A’s thread 2025

What’s the local thought on Severino? A few in Chicago media have been calling for a trade for him. I’m a bit of a lapsed baseball fan so I don’t follow closely anymore. He had a good year last year but has weird splits this season. ERA in the 3s on the road, rough at home. What’s the deal with him? Do fans want to trade him?
I’ll be honest. I think Severino can be a good to great pitcher again but it most definitely won’t be with the A’s. Ironically, he probably would’ve been an elite pitcher in the Oakland Coliseum but he’s already deep enough in his own head that it will never happen in Sacramento.

5 for 5 with a double and 3 HR from Nick Kurtz today!? Forget ROY -- how about we put him in the conversation for MVP at this point... holy cow.

Kurtz is unreal

A’s lineup is loaded with thump.

if they can build even an average pitching staff, then they’ll open about a 2-3 year window to compete.

Right now, I think only the Rockies staff sucks more

Hell of a day for Kurtz, and that double didn't miss by much...what, one or two feet on a 20-foot wall? Damn.

Yeah, I was surprised that the near HR double wasn’t brought up during the broadcast after his 3rd then 4th HR’s. And it wasn’t mentioned during the postgame show. I mean, it was close enough that it at least warrants a mention, no?

I think Kurtz’ near miss on the 5th HR was even a tad closer than Mike Cameron’s in 2002.

Cody Bellinger had 3HR game not too long ago that would have been a 4HR game had Kyle Tucker not took one away from him.

Some crazy performances so far this season.

The A’s aren’t a good team right now, largely due to their pitching staff and middle relief, but they do have several exciting, must see players both offensively and defensively.

Jacob Wilson is in the mix for a batting title, Denzel Clarke has been making elite level catches in center field ever since debuting, and now Nick Kurtz is leading baseball in nearly every conceivable offensive category for the month of July.

Langeliers, Rooker, Soderstrom, and Butler can all hit. They just got Gelof back recently for the first time all season. If that dude starts playing as they expect — this lineup will be crazy scary.

If they can find/add a couple capable starting pitchers and some middle relief this offseason and beyond, they could be pretty darned good.
