[MLB] The “Sacramento” A’s thread 2025

Cubs beat the previously undefeated Padres today. So hopefully the home sweep against Chicago was more about the Cubbies being pretty good then the A’s being downright awful.

Jacob Wilson with another go-ahead hit to extend his streak to nine games. Future superstar

If anyone needs any more proof that the A's front office is asleep at the wheel, Jacob Wilson could hit .400 this season and the A's would not get a draft pick for him winning Rookie of the Year because they brought him up to the big league roster 13 days too early in 2024 and burned through the 60 day max for PPI eligibility. This is after they did the same thing with Lawrence Butler a year earlier and made him ineligible for Rookie of the Year in 2024, an award he otherwise would have been in the running for. For a team that has built their success on drafting and developing young talent, I don't understand why they continue to mostly ignore the PPI eligibility rules and invest the bare minimum (in staff and resources) into the amateur international free agent market.

A’s look alright so long as they don’t play any games in West Sacramento
Should probably be noted that the “strongest” part of their rotation has been playing in Colorado while West Sacramento got the backend of the rotation and the bad version of Luis Severino

Really not his fault but I can’t listen to Chris Caray call games for the A’s without thinking of Will Ferrell’s impression of his great grandfather

Jacob Wilson is a hit machine. Dude’s approach at the plate reminds me of Ichiro. He’s that good.

Bad first inning aside, Severino has lived up to his (biggest deal in franchise history) contract tonight.
