Terrence Williams signed for remainder of season

My guess is he'll sign a 1 year deal in the neighborhood of 1.5-2 million and go for the bigger long-term contract if he puts up a big numbers next season. He's not going to get a whole lot of money or have many suitors for his services

I would hope we'd offer him at least 3yrs $3M per with the 3rd being team option... but I'd think his agent would start higher. He's at least as good as Cisco, on the level of on-a-good-day Salmons, and way better than Donte at SF. Unless his attitude is a hazard, I say lock him up as long as we can. He's young and will grow even more in the next couple years. I seriously doubt we'd offer him more than $4M per though.

What a pleasant surprise Terrence Williams has been.

I'd like to see :
Evans
Thornton
Williams

starting together for the next several games. Passing, rebounding, shooting, defending, driving talents are all there. IT can still get 28-30 minutes off the bench for whatever faux ROY campaign the front office wants to run.

Agreed. I'd like to see what this combination can do.

What happened to twice rookie of the month, IT? I'm not a big fan of small PG's, but its hard to deny what he's been doing. He's also getting better. Do we just say it doesn't matter, and send him back to the bench? Just saying!

The bench needs scoring. Unfortunately it is seen as a demotion if one is on the bench. We need a bench that does not cause Smart anxiety when he thinks of substitutions. Perhaps a better bench would keep Smart from playing starters in 16 minute shifts. If Tyreke and Williams are not able to get the ball to Cousins, then put Thornton on the bench and start IT. I just have enough faith that Williams and Tyreke can be good enough to pass the ball to allow there to be a real leader and scorer on the bench.

Perhaps Smart might even use Cousins passing abilities although I think hell will freeze over before it dawns on him.

Im glad you mentioned Cousins. With all this talk about our guards, the fact that Cousins is our best player by a pretty large margin sometimes get lost in the mix.

I'm not opposed to trying a Reke/Williams backcourt, but as athletic and big as they are sizewise, i have doubts about whether or not they can guard the PG's in the league. Im reminded of the time when Reke was a PG. Reke is a good defender, but PGs, primarily the younger ones, had their way with Reke in the half court set.

I had doubts about IT on defense as well. But he's been pretty good. I thought the opposing PG's would find a way to use the size mismatch, but instead it seems they'd rather try to use their speed against an already quick guy in IT. The liability is still there, but not many of them are taking advantage of that. That, along with the chemistry developing between he and Cousins, i dont think Reke/Will in the backcourt would be wise at this point of the season. As part of the starting lineup at least.

Perhaps using size is not in the skill set of most PGs. There aren't many that can dominate another PG with size. This may be working to IT's advantage.

I'd like to try Reke and Williams for the heck of it. We can't know how they will function as a duo without doing it. What else are we using this season for but to prepare for next year. I think it might work as a great change of pace. Nice change of pace to have a roster with the shortest player being 6'6".

We must see different things...

Evans and Thomas are virtually dead even relative to opponents offensive output (defense,) but Thomas is more than 50% more productive offensively than Evans. (82games.com) Evans is far more productive offensively at SG (almost twice as productive as he is at point) but he gives up more at the position, too. However, the difference between he and his opponents at shooting guard is much much narrower than at point.

Who takes the best offensive player on D out of Evans, Thomas and Thornton no matter what position he's slotted in?

And where are your numbers to support these statements of yours?

Also, what is your conclusion?
