Supervillain Draft Thread - Team write-ups and post draft rankings

Not really a villain... in fact, he seems more like a hero to me...
A worthy objection, I went to wiki as a source material.

"In [the first] movie, Godzilla was portrayed as a terrible and destructive monster. Following the success of Godzilla, Toho started filming a sequel. In this sequel film, a second Godzilla was set up to fight another giant monster, named Anguirus.

... In this film as well, Godzilla was portrayed as a villain. This portrayal would continue for two more movies. In his fifth movie, Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, Godzilla took the role of a hero. From that point onto the end of the Showa series, Godzilla stayed a hero, protecting Japan against attacks from other monsters, aliens, etc"

Godzilla, like Venom to a degree, is an example of a villain that became so popular AS a villain the creators had no choice but to make a switch so the audience could both root for the "former" villain, watch him/her win and actually feel good about it.

Godzilla may now be a hero and have been for several decades, but he began his career as a destructive, terrible villain and antagonist in four successive films, and that is enough to make him eligible.

So, while your objection is noted, I'm going to allow the pick.

Godzilla can also emit atomic energy in all directions from every inch of his body in a short-range pulse called the nuclear pulse. Godzilla utilises this nuclear pulse by swallowing his breath, and can be used to shove opponents in close combat. He can also generate powerful magnetic fields.
I did not know that!

Pretty fearsome Godzilla picture there.

You all know him....

GODZILLA!!!

Run, it's Godzilla! Or at least the heroes should... Godzilla's signature weapon is his distinctive atomic breath. In addition to his deadly atomic breath, Godzilla can also emit atomic energy in all directions from every inch of his body in a short-range pulse called the nuclear pulse. Godzilla utilises this nuclear pulse by swallowing his breath, and can be used to shove opponents in close combat. He can also generate powerful magnetic fields. Godzilla has as well displayed an uncanny ability to resist injury. He is immune to conventional weaponry and has demonstrated the ability to survive complete submersion in magma for an extended period of time. He has even survived being in ground zero of asteroid impacts and being buried under tons of ice for years at a time, seemingly cut off from any oxygen source. In addition, Godzilla possesses an extremely advanced and highly efficient regenerative ability. Godzilla is extremely strong at close combat also, excelling at martial arts and other forms of combat. He has been able to lift up, throw, and kill monsters bigger than him. Godzilla's tail is also deadly.

Godzilla has great intelligence in battle, but isn't too smart otherwise which is perfect as he is with Galactus. Godzilla is the perfect piece with Galactus and will be able to take over the heroes' island just as he did to the island of Japan.;)
Doh -- I was going to make that same pick i one of these drafts -- had not decided on wussy hero Godzilla or badass eat Tokyo Godzilla yet, but it was coming. ;)

Sorry, I've been working hard to get another villain and I've been doing homework too.

Agent Smith

From the Matrix, Agent Smith is a perfect personal body guard to Galactus. As an Agent he possessed superhuman strength, speed and stamina. He can transform himself into as many bodies as he wants and he can punch through concrete walls, dodge entire clips of bullets, and is skilled in martial arts. He can also go from one body to another whenever he wishes, making him impossible to kill with conventional weapons - even if one body died, he can just shift to another body. As a rogue program he still possessed all of the above abilities, although it appeared that he was stronger and faster than he was as an Agent. He was also capable of flying on some occasions, and could copy himself on top of other programs in the Matrix, or even humans linked to it. As he copied himself over some of the more remarkable programs, such as the Oracle or Sati, he also acquired the abilites of the programs themselves; when facing Neo for the final time, he was able to see the future and could control the weather.

And Agent Smith as well...my most recent plans had he and Godzilla only as alternates, but both were on my list. Big problem I was having wiht Agent Smith was that he is NOT a team player. Or...well, he was a team player at the time when he could still get his *** kicked. But by the time he gets omnipotent he is the antithesis of team player and is out to destroy everyone, including his erstwhile bosses. I won't have any of that kind of insubordination on my evil island. :p

I think when he sees his "boss" he will not try any insubordination. I doubt any villain would try any of that against Galactus.:p

Of course he only exists if our entire understanding of earth and existence is a computer program, but IF that is a constant, then nice pick :)

What are you talking about? Agent Smith is a great team player.

Granted, he has to BE the entire team, but still...

wooo...for some reason this is making me laugh hysterically. Either I am being my normal giggly self, am tired or this is incredibly funny...or some combination of all the above....(it is also making me do background checks on my potential draftees to see if they sold out to the kiddie cartoon circuit, that could prove unfunny then..)

It also has taken the sting away from tradepeja's swiping of my second lost draft pick of the day... :p

I, on the other hand, am more saddened by NME's post than I am amused.

I feel horribly deprived for having spent my entire childhood without even a single episode of "The Godzilla Power Hour."

Ok you are starting to pee me off. Have the common curtsy to message the next person. This is like the 5th time you are slowing down the drafts.

Anyways here is my next pick

Freddy Krueger

Need I say more. Your Heroes better not fall asleep. :D
Nice pick.... don't fall asleep... also, I would imagine your villains/people on your tropical island would want to keep sleeping to a minimum as well.

GAH! I know he won't come back to me so I am taking him now, but my next guy probably won't make it back either...

My Pick:
Count Dracula (Bram Stoker status)

Count Dracula possesses numerous different supernatural abilities inherent in vampirism, along with additional skills derived from his abilities as a necromancer which allow him to commune with the dead. His age and potency make him far more powerful than the creatures of traditional Eastern European folklore. He has enormous physical strength which, according to Van Helsing, is equivalent to 20 men. Being undead, he is immune to conventional means of attack. The only definite way to kill him is by decapitating him followed by impalement through the heart, although it is also suggested that shooting him with a sacred bullet would suffice. The Count can defy gravity to a certain extent, being able to climb upside down vertical surfaces in a reptilian manner. He has powerful hypnotic and mind control abilities, and is also able to command the loyalty of nocturnal animals such as wolves and rats. Dracula can also manipulate the weather, usually creating mists to hide his presence, but also storms such as in his voyage in the Demeter. He can shapeshift at will, his featured forms in the novel being that of a wolf, bat, dust and fog. He requires no other sustenance but fresh blood, which has the effect of rejuvenating him. Without it, he physically ages at an accelerated rate.
Can't die by conventional methods. Check.
Can turn into a bat at will. Check.
Can turn any human into one of his bloodthirsty minions. Check.
Would work awesome with both Venom and Sylar? Check.

Mina Harker's Journal said:
The Nosferatu do not die like the bee when he sting once. He is only stronger, and being stronger, have yet more power to work evil. This vampire which is amongst us is of himself so strong in person as twenty men, he is of cunning more than mortal, for his cunning be the growth of ages, he have still the aids of necromancy, which is, as his etymology imply, the divination by the dead, and all the dead that he can come nigh to are for him at command, he is brute, and more than brute, he is devil in callous, and the heart of him is not, he can, within his range, direct the elements, the storm, the fog, the thunder, he can command all the meaner things, the rat, and the owl, and the bat, the moth, and the fox, and the wolf, he can grow and become small, and he can at times vanish and come unknown.
Thus I claim a villian.

It also helps that he has a lot of money, so he can bankroll my operation.

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Was wondering when Dracula would go. At a certain point not sure of the need to try to justify picks by their powers -- fact of the matter is that with all of Marvel Comics' superduperpooper omnipotentest I can kill the universe guys, the power of any non-geekgasm villain is absolutely nothing in comparison and wouldn't make any difference. Picking Dracula isn't a power thing its a style thing. ;)

So, I think my team has proved it's evil enough to compete with the big boys. Now, we need to recruit some top level minions to do our dirty work. Who better to turn to than shape shifting alien bugs? With my third choice I select:

The Sliver Queen (Magic The Gathering)

More varied than the Borg, more powerful than the living dead, and better shots than Imperial Stormtroopers, Slivers are one of MTG's favorite mindless hordes. These alien broodlings gain abilities of other slivers in proximity to themselves, and are ill tempered, aggressive, territorial, and ravenous. Whether they're sucking an opponent's brains out or just sitting around being untouchable, they will be the hands of my evil empire!

Powers and Abilities:
Slivers have always been very big on unity. There is an early concept sketch that shows a huge group of them clinging to a stalactite, huddled together like a swarm of bats. They were concepted as mesomorphs, or shapeshifters. This is how they are able to, say, suddenly grow wings when a Winged Sliver is around. They also share a hive mind, as if all Slivers were using a communal brain. While they are not telepathic, they can “read” other Slivers with complete accuracy. Each individual is born with certain qualities or powers, and when another Sliver “reads” this Sliver, it can share those powers. Proximity, though, is very important. Slivers can't “read” each other over great distances.

The Sliver Queen exists only to breed other slivers, and she does this at an extremely efficient and fast rate (Slivers are known to outbreed insects, especially when heart and quick slivers are present). She possesses a hive mind with her brood, acting as a mainframe and sharing adaptive abilities to her sliver hoard. Slivers are led by the queen, however they are also self breeding, and are each born with varying abilities, adaptations, and powers which they share with other slivers in their proximity. If the queen is destroyed, the colony survives and adapts a new queen to act as center for the hive mind. A list of known sliver subspecies and their adaptive powers is found below:

Muscle Slivers (Enhanced Strength)
Winged Slivers (Flight)
Talon Slivers (Claws/First Strike)
Clot Sliver (Regeneration)
Heart Sliver (Enhanced Speed)
Armor Sliver (Enhanced Defense)
Horned Sliver (Trample Damage)
Mnemonic Sliver (Enhanced Intelligence/Memory)
Barbed Sliver (Enhanced Attack Damage)
Mindwhip Sliver (Mental Attacks)
Crystaline Slivers (Spellcraft Immunity)
Hibernation Slivers (Crygenic Sleep)
Acidic Sliver (Acidic Breath/Blood)
Spined Sliver (Gains strength when attacked)
Victual Sliver (Heals others through self damage)
Quick Sliver (Superhuman Speed)
Plated Sliver (Enhanced Defense)
Mistform Sliver (Gaseous Form/Shapeshift to other form (Animal/Weapon/Object/Humanoid/Etc.)
Crypt Sliver (Regenerate Others in a Radius)
Root Sliver (Spells Cannot Be Deflected/Countered)
Ward Sliver (Elemental Protection/Resistance)
Shifting Sliver (Phase Form/Slivers Cannot Be Damaged or Blocked Except By Other Slivers)
Brood Sliver (Creates a weaker replacement sliver when one is destroyed)
Spectral Slivers (Increase strength of other Slivers)
Blade Slivers (Increased attack damage)
Essence Slivers (Hive Queen gains life when other slivers are damaged)
Magma Slivers (Gain damaging power equal to numbers)
Toxin Sliver (Venomous, Kills target creature it attacks)
Sliver Overlord (Converts target creature into a sliver!)

Magneto

A leader sure, but might just follow along with Voldy if he can convince him that his best interests are in mind.

Magneto has the ability to manipulate the electromagnetic force to achieve a wide range of effects.
Such effects include the creation of force-fields which selectively block out matter and energy (he can block the energy release and shockwaves from a nuclear explosion but allow visible light and the sound of his voice to permeate the shield). Thanks to this, Magneto is invulnerable to most harm when his personal field is active and can survive in deep space.
He can produce and manipulate all forms of electromagnetic radiation and has displayed control over eletricity as well. He can also channel his magnetic powers through his own body so as to temporarily increase his strength, stamina, and agility to superhuman levels.

And more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magneto_(comics) including nifty little tidbits like levitating Submarines.

If you somehow got that team to work together, they would be extremely powerful. The thing is I think all would want to be the leader, or at least Voldemort and Magneto definitely would. Great pick though!

No gods or "super"villains here, if you haven't figured it out already I'm picking villains who are at least somewhat grounded in reality. That being said, my next pick is...

Don Michael Corleone - The Godfather Trilogy

Ruthless mob boss, and if I can't pick a real one like Al Capone, this is the next best. Somehow maybe even more ruthless than my two previous picks, which is saying something. He's also a, *ahem*, shrewd businessman who will turn my group of relative villain simpletons into a empire of fearsome villainy. With the help of my upcoming pick of course....

Yeah I considered that, but given that Magneto cares most about his needs, if Voldy were to convince him that those needs would be fulfilled, we are probably ok.

That and wands are made of wood. Much harder for Magneto to play with. :)
