Sylven Landesberg is a player who could actually make our team. Good to have him on the squad. Im most interested to see who will play point for us this summer.

Slyven has very similar numbers but the 3 point shooting seperates him from ryan (at least on paper).
 
Same for Cousins vs. Whiteside

Someone posted it yesterday but if you look statistically at Cousins and Whiteside their stats look very similar except blk (see whiteside). Also draftexpress says how Cousins AND Whiteside score frequently, get to the line, and do not turn the ball over very much.

Larry you forgot Brockness. According to todays sacbee article about the kings being happy:

With forward Jon Brockman and swingman Omri Casspi returning for their second seasons, the Kings are one of the league's youngest teams – with a lot of potential (by Aaron Hilton).

Brockness at the 3

Brockness needs to try playing some SF in summer league. Him or Landry needs to learn to play some confident basketball from the SF position. Westphal even hinted to Landry doing this before the summer.

I hope we can add a guy like Antonio Anderson, or Samardo Samuels.. Unless they were picked to play on different teams.

Brockman would die at the 3, because he would never be able to stay in front of opposing 3's and his main usefulness (rebounding) would go to waste on the wing. Neither is he offensively talented enough to make a difference playing the 3 offensively.

Landry - may be interesting to see him at the 3 although he would have problems defensively staying in front of the quicker 3's. Offensively though, he would destroy just about any 3 in the league.

This was my hope also. Although he doesn't have to be on our team to get a look at him. I know I plan on watching every game thats played every day that I'm there..

I think he played for the 76ers summer league team last year and I think he played pretty well. They signed him on, but then cut him.

If I were a betting man I'd bet its Christmas who makes the team between he and Landseberg. Should be good though, they're both intriguing prospects and there's a spot there if they can earn it.

Ryan also shot twice as many 3 pointers, 4.4 attempts vs. 2.2 for Sylven, so that does tell you outside shooting is his thing.

I'd like to see Marquez Haynes in summer league -- 22 ppg for UTA, 48% FG and 41% from 3PT so he can shoot the ball.
 
Good question. I know last year they started the online pay thing and it appears to be returning this year, $11 for early special. I did see a commercial the other on NBATV stating summer league would be covered on NBATV starting July 5th (starts with Orlando SL). I checked the TV schedule on NBA.com and it actually has all SL games listed as showing live the same day on NBATV. This would be awesome! I hope it's true. Last year they did eventually show some of the games on delay and they usually show about 2 of the Kings games every year a few days after the game. I'm not into the pay stuff, last year was hardly watchable and there were a ton of glitches due to too much traffic on the site. I really hope they are indeed showing the games on NBATV. Heck, you have to pay for it, they might as well show the stinking games considering their summer schedule consists of the same 3 programs re-airing over and over.
 
I will not be paying for this !@#%, and it will be $#%^. Its like paying to see kings preseason games, yes some people will do it, but you are watching scrubs play and experiments more than anything. I think I will just get the post game write ups.

MON, 7/12 Pistons 3 pm
TUE, 7/13 Lakers 5:30pm
WED, 7/14 Wolves 7 pm

FRI, 7/16. * Raptors 3 pm
SAT, 7/17 Bulls 5:30pm
SUN, 7/18 *Mavs 5 pm


Most games for the NBA summer league are played in the Cox Pavilion, a 2,000 seat high school style practice court attached to the Thomas & Mack arena in Las Vegas. About 1-2 games a day are played in Thomas & Mack, a 15,000 seat arena home to UNLV basketball. The Kings games in T & M are marked by an *.

Games are played from Friday, 9 July through Sunday, 18 July with about 6 games a day amongst 22 NBA teams sending squads of rookies and FA 's to summer league. Tickets are $25 per day for all games that day (seniors and kids under 12 are $15/day). Seating is first-come-first-served anywhere except is those areas roped off for team reps. (coaches, GM's, scouts, etc).

This will be my 4th year attending the Vegas Summer League, twice with a press pass to provide a first hand view and interviews of the Kings squad. Some tidbits:

- attending the first day or first game for a team is more comical and amusing than it is a view of basketball skills as all FA's and draftees are so excited and over wound ( think 6 can Red Bull high!!!) that they seem out of control much of the time

- by game 3 a team effort starts to emerge and the ball games improve dramatically

- if your into NBA ball, summer league is a people watching gold mine: virtually every head coach (BTW all summer league games are coached by an assistant coach with rare exception), hall of fame players, owners, headlining celebs, even the top of the refereing corps

- summer league referees are mostly non-NBA refs who have been invited to "try out" to become an NBA ref. They add 1-2 refs a year to a permeant roster of about 70-75 refs.

- all games are played to NBA rules except there are four 10-min quarters and 10 fouls allowed before disqualification.

- for autograph seekers, one or two players from each game are put at an autograph signing table after each game

Thanks brother. I just might be down there for some of that if not all of it. We'll see how it pans out.
