So who makes final roster?

Entity

Hall of Famer
Roster consists of 12 active and 1 inactive. Just wanting to get thoughts on who everybody thinks will make it. First lets get the obvious out of the way.

Rondo
Cousins
Belinelli
Koufos
Mcklemore
Gay
Collison
WCS
Casspi
Acy
Anderson
Butler (not because of play)

Now who gets final spot and gets to be in street clothes? Do we take extra pg, shooter, or big? Stockton, curry, or Moreland?

With Karl liking to play SF's at PF I am afraid that leaves out Moreland although I'd take him over butler and Acy.

So the ball handling Stockton or the shooter Curry?

Roster limit is 15.

Final Roster can have up to 15 with 13 active any given night.

C1- Cousins
C2- Koufos
PF1- Cauley-Stein
PF2- Acy
PF3- Moreland- Inactive sent to Reno
SF1- Gay
SF2- Casspi
SF3- Butler
SG1-McLemore
SG2- Belinelli
SG3- Anderson
PG1- Rondo
PG2- Collison
PG3- Curry
PG4- Stockton- Inactive sent to Reno.

If Karl plays DC and Rondo together for longer stretches, got to have Curry. Plus if Curry can knock down 3's at a high clip, he could see some playing time

Tough one but replace Anderson w Moreland

I don't see Stockton or Moreland getting much PT in the league yet. In Moreland's case I think Acy barely beats him but D. Stockton hasn't shown me to much.

I liked what I saw from Moreland during the Summerleague. Problem is, that he would be our 3rd big on the roster without any offensive game away from the basket.
But if Acy doesn't improve his defensive awareness and particularly his defensive rebounding I think Moreland might get his chance this season.

Replace Stockton with Dukan - Inactive sent to reno

Dont we have to limit the total contracts to 15? Dukan has a 2 year contract , no second year guarantee, so to
waive him would have to pay him $525,000 and pay stocton 845k

I think Vlade and peja wants Dukan to develop in Reno more than stockton?
So for a 15th player in Reno do we spend $525 for Dukan or 1,370,000 for Stockton?
We need Moreland as Big man insurance - 5th Big and Dukan as 6th big in development

Does anyone see what the front office or coach sees in Anderson? All I heard is karl likes him and he's good even though it doesn't translate in the box score. I really didnt see why he gets a spot based on the televised games

It's probably his defense and hustle. He's a decent shooter, but not great. He's shown to be an above defender in preseason. He's not getting his shots at all..just like how Ben isn't. His contract is also guaranteed..so there's that going for him too.

My impression is his talent on defense I s what keeps him on the roster and playing. He may not have to do much more to make inroads on Ben's minutes. We'll see.

Anderson game is solid.....not great in anything. Karl likes him and that's enough for me. I'll take solid over inconsistent.

He plays solid D and doesn't seem to get in the way lol.

Curry should make the squad- His handles and IQ are better then I thought. And we need all the shooting we can get. Plus he can learn alot from Rajon and DC- I think his game will improve and become more balanced in time.

I'm torn between Acy & Moreland... Moreland was impressive against Phoenix.. His energy/Hustle was great, Defense & Rebounding were solid.
Acy has better IQ and offensive game.. But i feel like he lacks in the areas where Moreland excels.

Tough call.

He's solid on defense. Runs through screens to chase shooters well, rotates well and in general Karl would probably trust him to follow a scouting report. Offensively is an average 3 pt shooter, and does well off the dribble(much much better than Ben). Knows his role, will pretty much stay out of the way until called upon. To quote Karl he is an "insurance" at the 2/3.

I think this is the 15 man roster:

Cousins
Cauley-Stein
Gay
McLemore
Rondo
Koufos
Casspi
Belinelli
Collison
Butler
Curry
Acy
Moreland
Anderson
Dukan

with Stockton getting cut. I think Dukan spends the year inactive and playing for Reno. The other inactive will depend on injuries and matchups but will otherwise be Anderson or Moreland/Acy depending on which of the latter two grabs that last big man role off the bench.

18 players are shown on the game roster. Kings can carry only 15 on regular season roster. Believe (someone know for sure?) that there are 3 partial guaranteed contracts plus Hunter and Henderson.

Stockton $1M+ this year, player opt 2016-17, 3rd PG backup?

Moreland $800k+ " ". He is a tough one, fighting with Acy for a spot, does everything Acy doesn't do and seems he can score out to 16ft or so. But Acy a tough guy fighting down low....hmmmm

Dukan. $? some guaranteed $$ but.... A stretch 4 maybe with a 3pt shot "as smooth as Peja in the day" Kind of a mystery man until we see him play a bunch.

Hunter. Another unknown shooter likely only for training camp and Reno?
http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2015/...ings-sign-undrafted-forward-vince-hunter-utep

Henderson, appears to be a training camp invite only after playing a year in Qatar and Iraq??

Now, seems likely Kings don't want or need to carry a full 15 into season so, where does that leave Anderson and Curry? Moreland? etc. Not easy this year for sure.

While I like Acy a lot as a personality, there's just no need for him on the roster. There's just not much he does well unfortunately. Not a great shooter, offensive player, defender, rebounder. Doesn't really help as a stretch 4 as both Rudy and Omri are better rebounders as small-ball PF's and probably defenders too. Think Brick put it best in one of these threads that he's a SF without SF skills. Not a good place to be in.

I'd like to give Moreland the shot at the 4th big spot/emergency big. He has his weaknesses for sure, but there's real upside with working on his development as a future rim protector. I don't see that same upside, both short and long term, with keeping Acy.

And Acy is a short 6-7, not good amongst the tall timber many teams in the west now have.

Update 14 Oct after Laker game
Moreland sure raised his probility of sticking around after this game. So see Stockton, Hunter and Hende rson being odd guys put and maybe all 3 going to Reno.

12 Active

1 Cousins
2 Gay
3 Rondo
4 Collison
5 Bellini
6 WCS
7 Koufos
8 Casspi
9 McLemore
10 Butler
11 Anderson
12 Acy

13 Curry

Acy and Curry are close, but you need an extra big more often often than you need an extra PG. Basically, you're 12th man is often an extra 6 fouls.

I expect the team to have a 10 man rotation, with 9 strong within that rotation. How that shapes up depends on who starts at SG.

can't believe people are contemplating Acy with Moreland. What exactly does Acy do well? Flashy dunks every once in a while and good bench celebrations? Look, he seems like a good guy but basketball wise I really don't see how he's better than Moreland. Moreland is a better rebounder/defender and has a lot more size. Is Acy even a decent shooter? Because I'm not convinced. The pros of keeping Moreland greatly outweigh the cons.

Karl has always loved having at least one hard nosed defender at SG (which is what I assume Anderson is) from the likes of Dantay Jones, Anthony Carter, Yukuba Diawara, Afflalo, Iggy and more he likes that SG spot to be well defended.

We're arguing about who we should keep at the end of the bench. Think about that a minute... :)

If you could explain how you've determined Anderson is solid I'd love to hear it. He's Ben with zero upside. He's roster filler. And he's 3-4 years older than Ben

With zero talent around Anderson in philly, he really did very little. Basically what Ben did last season.

Keep in mind while Ben started 82 games in the NBA last season, Anderson was out of the league.

Based on watching him before he left for across seas, then watching him in Summer and using Karl's own quotes, I consider him solid. Just my opinion.

According to reports there's a team in the West trying (discussing) to sign one Larry Sanders to me a bat crap crazy Sanders>>>>>>>>>Moreland/Acy. Larry playing 10-20mins a game would give us the most insane interior defense in the NBA by a massive margin.

I think Cuz/Larry were close during some Team USA stuff so.........maybe? I would not mind going for more risk if the reward is your 4th big is a former elite defender coming back into shape.
