SI: Kings trying to ship out Bibby before trade deadline

Not sure, but don't hold your breath. I think we are set for the rest of the season. Any moves will have to be in the offseason.

I am going to enjoy watching Bibby for the rest of the season when he plays. I hope that he lands somewhere good next year. I hope we get a good draft pick and maybe sign a free agent or two and start rebuilding.

We won't have any money to spend to sign an FA and there are too many veterans to get a good/decent pick.

Petrie really screwed this up.

same happened to Webber and Pedja
For a franchise that claims we are so great to play for etc....we sure have a lousy way of pulling the rug out from under our players, especially our former franchise players. This is crazy and it doesn't need to be like this. I know it's a business and players come and go, but for a player, any player, to know he has been traded by watching it on TV like Peja last year is just wrong. I also believe, like many, that GP is very secretive, that's even not debatable, so I really think the Maloofs are heading this thing and are making Artest the franchise guy without a doubt and will try whatever they can to keep him here rebuild or to keep ecking out a 8th position into the playoffs and a 1st round exit for years to come.

And THAT is exactly what I am afraid of for this team.

This happens everywhere. There is no easy way to trade a person.

Just because Petrie may not have been willing to accept chump change for a premiere player you think he screwed "this" up? What exactly is this?

He may well have decided to stop making "band aid" trades at this point and just hold on for a major shift at the end of the season.

I can live with that.

lol Well now Bibby is going to be extremely unhappy, we're in "let's get the 9th seed!" mode, we have no more expirings to get before the cap, etc. We didn't even get any more young players and picks.

Gooden and Mike James wouldn't be a "bandaid" but could be short and long term help to middle of pack. All depends on how RonRon chemistry on court would be with them.

You know, this is a pretty common misconception.

The Kings organization is one of the very best for how they treat their players, which is why most guys don't ever want to leave. Trades are as much a part of the business as player free agency. While it does hurt to see some of our favorites leave, I don't think it's fair to accuse MS&E of pulling the rug out from under players.

Let me preface this by saying that I think Artest has done a great job this year and have no problems with his play on court as of late. I was against his coming, but happily admit that I was wrong.
That being said, I DO NOT like that we have to worry about his chemisty with other players above everything. He and Bibby did not work, so Bibby is shopped. Whenever we mention other players coming, people tend to mention whether or not Ron will get along with them. I really hope that this is a misconception on our part and not a reality. Great players make the players around them better. We should not have to worry about him getting along others.

Off topic I know, but thinking about trades just brought this up in my mind. By the way- the deadline just passed.
sorry

yea and he may have just been too chicken to pull off a trade, WE DON'T KNOW!!

AGREED

Here's the latest from Sam Amick. Looking like no:

Clock winding down
With 40 minutes to go, all is quiet on the Kings’ end. Mike Bibby has not been told he has been traded, according to someone close to him. And according to a
source close to the situation, it’s looking like Bibby won’t be. According to a source in Cleveland, it appears the Cavs have moved on to other, non-Bibby
business. There is still time for someone - including Cavs GM Danny Ferry - to ring the purple phone with the can't-pass sort of deal, though.

Time's up. What now?
now we wait for several hours to see if anything really happened

then we watch Kings lose to Wizards or Bulls vs Cavs or another B-movie or a retarded reality show or something. At least we don't have to hope anymore till the summer

My assumption is if a trade happens, it may not be announced until later today. The league would have to approve it before it's announced, and if more trades come in at the deadline, it will take some time for the NBA to go through them.

:( I do not like not having hope.

REALISTICALLY, what draft pick are we looking at if things remain status quo as far as our wins/ losses? I am thinking just outside of the lottery to low lotto pick. 12-18

There's no way another trade is going down. It has to be in by 3, and if it isn't then the office has to be alerted and asked for an extension. The reporters would have gotten wind of that by now...

Sweet!! We're about to have a 35-39 win season...here's to mediocrity!! Gonna love getting like the 13th pick in the draft! Great job guys! Way to think about the future!
