Sean Williams is about to be a free agent. Granted he's had some issues but he also could be the young shot blocker the kings need. I say give it a shot with a deal for as short as possible and if it doesn't work, cut him loose.

is there a link saying he's being waived? all i see is humphries traded for najera.

if he is going to be a f/a i say why not? if anyone could get his head on straight westphal could do it.

One interesting fact about Sean Williams, he shot almost 54% FG with 14 double digit scoring games in his rookie year... with Jason Kidd running the point. Since the Kidd for Harris trade, Williams has not shot better than 43% FG and he had one, just one double digit scoring game in two seasons. When Williams was scoring he seems to play better defense as well. And of course the immortal Mikki Moore had his best season playing next to Kidd.

Ok, enough about Kidd. If Williams can duplicate the type of year he had playing with the HOF PG then he's worth a spot on the team. If he is the fouling machine that showed up in the season and a half since Kidd was gone then he's a waste of space. But considering this would be replacing one Sean (May) with another (Williams), it's probably a good gamble.

Somehow I think Williams' baggage is too much for GP.

yeah why the hell not... im sick of hearing about how Sacramento is like rehab for terrible people.... lets get to the bottom of this theory!!! put it to the test!

and if he makes it we at least have a shot blocking 5 for less than a million a year!

sure

If we really wanted to put it to the test, we should go out and get Arenas right now. If any team has any malcontents they want to get rid of, hand hem to us apparently.;)

heck we fixed artest didnt we........

or maybe not. ;)

we failed at bonzi too

No, we didn't fail at Bonzi. He played his best ball here and fell apart when he left.

As far as Sean Williams goes, I'll pass. We do not need any problems right now to tip the apple cart. We have a very team that Petrie has put together with a specific vision in mind and I'm pretty sure someone like Williams isn't part of the equation. He isn't worth taking the chance on IMO.

I was about to post this, and yes. I would go for it without a doubt. Some team is going to give him a shot .. for short money by the way, why not us?

If he is a cancer then waive him. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I saw him play a lot at BC, and have had my eye on him for a while .. the guy can play defense. Even if he isnt the answer (big possibility) it would be nice to just see how we look with that type of player in the game. Were at the 'try everything' stage of the rebuild, we need to check out this team from every angle, and we dont know how good this team can be with a defensive big man in the lineup. I doubt we go after him, but I would be pretty happy if we did.

As far as what he's like right now, he played on Jan 6 for the first time since Dec 19th. In 7 minutes he posted 2 point, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 3 rebounds and 2 turnovers.

His rookie season stats were - 17 minutes, 5.6 points, 1.4 blocks, and 4.4 rebounds.

He really did mess that up didn't he.
Sucks because Bonzi and Artest were just beginning to build something really special.
Say what you want about the two, those two guys complimented each others game so well.

There is not much hope there -- even at full strength he's too small to really fix what ails us. But there is also a heavy element of why not/what do we have to lose to this one. Take the shot. Maybe the other kids on the team pick him up and infest him with responsibility and effort. Maybe Westpahl reaches him. Really not worried about Tyreke deciding he wants to follow him down the path the other way.

If you take that as his best potential, then you don't even take the chance.

If I'm not mistaken you can now sign players to 10 game contracts. I'd say give him one if he's willing. If he pans out then give him another another one. I believe that you can go as far as three 10 game contracts before he becomes guaranteed for the rest of the year. Not much risk that way, who knows, he might pan out.

Perhaps...but when picking a guy up more or less for free, I'm not sure every move has to be for a savior. Even if he just becomes a rotation contributor you got something for nothing.

But if he doesn't pan out and causes problems, you've thrown away all your progress for nothing. I'm not sure you have to pick up every player off someone else's slag heap in the hopes of finding a "rotation contributor", especially when some kind of redemption is involved in the mix.

You really feel like this one outside fringe player can ruin a team? At the absolute worst he is a problem, in Which case you cut him. I see no situation where this guy can ruin what we already have. If out FO has half a brain they'll stop the problem before it's becomes a problem.

If he was any old scrap player from another team I wouldn't care, but this guy is young and COULD fill a need. If he doesn't at least we can say we tried.

We simply have different perspectives. I do not think he has enough of an upside to warrant taking the chance. You obviously feel differently.

I personally was confusing the 2 players. Nets are likely to release Sean Williams and Shawne Williams. Both have issues but Sean > Shawne

Oh it also mentioned they may release Josh Boone. He is another possibility. Not sure if any of the 3 are any better than KT. But they are taller.

He's a psycho with no understanding of team offense. But his returns aren't anywhere near close to Rodman or Artest to justify brining him in.

I'd bring him in if he can be in the D-League first, where he can learn fundamental ball , grind it out for a season and be humbled by the experience
