Sean Williams

Amir Johnson is nice. but what about we try and get a high 2nd pick to go along with our lottery pick. then we can go after Sean Williams.

I mean say Yi, Hibbert are gone...and its our pick...I DO NOT WANT JULIAN WRIGHT!!! we take Mike Conley jr and then with our 2nd pick pick up Sean Williams VERY GOOD shot blocker!! him along side Jwill would be a force.

Jwill and Swill LOL

I'd rather go with this guy, he's the #2 shot blocker in NCAA basketball (1.3 blocks a game more than Thabeet), and he's not a head case.

If he were a couple of inches taller or a couple of years younger, he'd undoubtedly go in the first round. As it is, he'd make an excellent defensive SF, or with Justin as a smallball C, he'd make a great option for smallball PF. Like Justin, he's fast, athletic, and can rebound and especially block like mad (has had four triple-doubles with blocks this year). His offensive skills are a lot better than Justin's, and his attitude is supposed to be great.

He might only be 3 years away from his peak, but I can live with that in a second rounder.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a guy like Sean Williams end up like Justin Williams, undrafted by the end of the night. And if he is, we better get on the horn and invite him to camp!

Weakness: Off the court behavior got him repeatedly suspended and ultimately kicked off the BC team halfway through his junior season ... His work ethic and commitment to basketball are very much in question, and his dismissal surely cost his draft stock consideerably ... Doesn’t always play the game with intensity often it’s not uncommon for him to get out worked by players with lesser talent … Despite having all the physical tools, Williams is not a good out of position rebounder due to his unwillingness to hustle … Suffers from a lack of focus, at times it doesn’t seem like he is interested in playing … Could stand to bulk up and add more upper body strength to his physique … Tends to get pushed away from the basket when posting up because of this … Doesn’t always take care of the ball when executing his moves on offense as he is prone to strips … Still learning the game so his basketball IQ isn’t the best … Has a tendency to pick-up fouls with regularity … Can be a little too aggressive for his on good on defense … Would benefit from continuing to expand his offensive game facing the basket …

um......no!

No on Sean Williams unless we need somebody at the PF position BADLY. He essentially duplicates what Justin does; an athletic shotblocking PF who can't guard centers.

We already have a PF rotation of SAR/Kenny/Justin, none of which can play center or small forward. Adding Sean would just further make a logjam at the position.

But there is the possibility of trading Kenny/SAR, so we may have a spot open. But I'd rather go for a guy like Amir Johnson, who is a more talented player without the off-court issues. If we can't get him, then as a last resort, I wouldn't mind grabbing Sean.

Sean Williams failed drug test 3(!!!) times during 4 months, he was warned after the second time that next one would mean kicking out and still failed to pass. Do we need this person?
Leaving off-court issues aside Sean really started to come along this season. Defensively he's similar to Ratliff. Comparable as intimidator (we talk about college version of Theo not prime NBA), average at boards but has bigger frame and sarted to add weight so can do better man-to-man. Offensively he has inconsistent jump-shot out to 15 feet and this season consistently converted hook shots.
He needs veteran team with strong veteran presense, then maybe he can do something in this league. And he should move from Boston (so for his own sake he shouldn't take any offer from Celtics) or he will rot similar to Eddie Griffin in Houston.

WOuld love to have his skills -- can NEVER have enough shotblockers inside covering the paint.

But one of those guys unfortunately where the skills come with a rotten melon up top. Still, if you had a second round pick, it could be a why not sort of thing? Low risk, chances of picking a more talented player there are quite low, so why not roll the dice? Let alone as a free agent pickup. But its going to be very very easy for this one to bomb out -- he's still got the maturity of a 12 yr old (and I apologize to any 12 yr olds on the board for the unflattering comparison). When a guy can't get straight wwhen the stakes are as high as they were for Williams (was being mentioned as a lottery pick at one point), maybe he's just never going to get straight.
