Word from sources is Shareef Abdur-Rahim will no longer be with the Kings. No comment from the team.

Hawks are trying HARD to clean up their image right now, SAR in the office will help.
Bingo. He's from Atlanta, just finished getting his (master's?) degree at Cal, and the Hawks need the good PR. Could see him ending up as Asst. GM over there.
I've always believed this was kinda the case with SAR's Kings job.Was this some kind of a "sympathy" job to make up for retiring early with knee problems. Did he lose $ from his partial injury contract clause. I'm sure SAR is a Low Key coach, but I feel like he was cashing checks and possibly just coasted.
I mean,... I always liked him as the player. It's upsetting when he came to the Kings, battling for court time with Kenny Thomas, broken jaw wired shut, lost weight and played through it. The knees just shut him down.I've always believed this was kinda the case with SAR's Kings job.
It's complete guesswork on my part, but I'm glad someone who was likely not qualified is no longer in the position.
I'm going on memory here, dangerous. If I recall correctly when he got the "office" job, insurance had paid off his remaining player contract. If he had played again, the team would've been liable for his salary. The job at the time seemed like it may have been insurance from that happening.I mean,... I always liked him as the player. But he got some kind of "hush" appeasement deal. I never noticed any kind of his coaching recognition at all. The new FO must have slipped him out the back door.
This is good news.
What has SAR really shown to still be with the Kings anyways?
He might also be one of the reasons why this franchise/players sucked for so many years now.

Thanks for nothing. This is good news.

Maybe, maybe not. We didn't know, we don't know, and we'll probably never know. So I will continue to think well of SAR as I have always done.No.
But, it's likely going to clear the way for a perhaps more effective person aligned with the vision of the coach/leadership.

This was my first impression when I first heard of this. I guess you can't blame him. If a better opportunity comes knocking you have to take advantage. Not too many of these NBA jobs to go around.I wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta is trying to lure him and the Kings are letting him take the opportunity if it's there.
