back to starting block?

confirmed. bibby and artest back into the starting lineup 2nite. any thoughts (not with just the salmons thing, but we're also sending beno to the bench). he's the reason our record doesnt suck as much as it should.

It's certainly no surprise. Kevin came back to the starting line-up first. Now Bibby and Artest. The later two are on the trading block (not that Martin or anyone wouldn't be gone for the right deal) and hopefully they'll both stay injury free up to the fast approaching Feb. trade deadline. Then I expect a deal to get made with Bibby or Artest sent packing. If a deal isn't made (a shocker I'd say) the other shoe drops.

Coach Theus had said a zillion times this team is trying to make the playoffs and until that's no longer mathematically possible he's expecting maximum effort to get there. Once the Kings are eliminated from contention (assuming they are) no doubt starting roles and minutes will change yet again.

Finally, Beno has become my second fave Kings player just behind Kev, not only because of what you said he's done but his great attitude. Apparently, he's able to play just as well off the bench as he does when starting. Hopefully, the Slovenian lefty is in a Kings uniform next season and for a long time.

"I'm going ahead and moving these guys into the starting lineup," Theus said. "It's time to get back to what I think makes us overall the strongest team."

(At least this time he's not trying to say it's based on who works hard in practice!)

They're both on the trading block and time's running out, so I'm sure there's pressure to get them back into starting ASAP. I've been unimpressed with Artest's recent play, and don't see why he couldn't wait until Bibby got his assist-TO ratio for the year above 1.0, but a lot of these things seem to be decided on politics. That's business as usual in most franchises, no reason to expect the Kings to be different.

This is one of those situations, damned if you don't and damned if you do. The Beno-Salmons-Martin group was productive and a good defensive team we all seemed to like who were well into the learning process of working together.

Martin is easy to integrate: just drive and dish. But only Bibbs or Salmons draws a double team to get Martin's ppg up near 25. Bibby we know. He and Beno seemed to be OK on the floor at the same time.

Artest is the odd one in more ways than three. They need to showcase him to trade him and you can only showcase a big time player who starts. What that does to the team in the meantime we can only lament. But if RonRon wants to improve his chances of getting to a contender he has to quit being such a ball hog.

I think the real problem is trying to get equal performance back in a trade. There are only 2 or 3 contenders at most who could/should do a trade for him. Most likely a 3rd team has to be involved along with a first round draft choice and a rebounder who can put up 8-10 points a night. A tough deal.

Considering he's probably opting out this year, we should get anything we can in return....

Which may not be much if he wants to sign with NY for the MLE. Unless someone wants to try a little "push" in the second half of a season with a rental, of course. But that would mean taking on salary unless it was for another ender.

totally true. The good thing is though is that if someone wants to "try him out" they have that option too w/o having a commitment if he doesn't work out. His value is probably higher than Bibby right now.
