Sac/Cle Trade

#1
This looks like a trade that can go down:

Sac outgoing:
Bibby

Sac incoming:
Gooden
Pollard
Jones

Cle outgoing:
Gooden
Pollard
Jones

Cle incoming:
Bibby

The trade works out on the ESPN Trade Machine and both teams can benefit from trade. Pollard has stated he would like to come back to Sac and Kings would strengthen frontcourt with Gooden and Pollard as well as getting a decent PG, Jones.

Kings Starters--PG: Jones, SG: Martin, SF: Artest, PF: Gooden, C: Miller

Cavs would get a PG and it would make the team a contender if Bibby can get his shooting touch back completely and become a consistent scorer.

Thats not a winning lineup.

Gooden man be pretty good, but he is not what we need...Not by a longshot...And Damon Jones running the point isn't something I would like to watch on a nightly basis.

Sorry, the Cavs are completely stuck with the awful Damon Jones contract. We ain't going to be the ones helping them, although the temptation for Geoff to grab another too short PF might be overpowering.

Heck, if it was up to me I would do a straight up for Gooden for Bibby trade... The way Bibby is playing right now I think we could get our offense from elsewhere and not really skip a beat. I mean, how hard is it to hit 35% of your shots anyway?

Anyhow, Gooden gives us what we need, and we can always draft a PG. If we have the 7th pick than we would probally be gettting the best PG in the draft because of how many people will be going after big men.

This would afford us the possibility of also trading down in the draft if we were to have the #7-9 to about 15 and still get a top PG... (I know there aren't many in the draft but I think a couple freshmen might commit)

Gooden hardly gives us what we need unless what we need is to basically trade for a 1" taller Kenny Thomas who may not even be as good a "shotblocker". He's marginally better than what we have. That is not remotely worth Mike Bibby. If they had Varejao and capspace to offer, maybe. But Gooden...he's the player that has gotten us into this mess in the first place. We are a tean full of Goodens. No more please.

resonding on behalf of Petrie:
"Bricklayer... you're absolutely right! Drew Gooden is the exact player we don't need! Consider it done"

Yah, I was referring to Bibby's play this year alone. If this is how Bibby is going to be than i would take him straight up for Gooden in a heart beat.

Gooden is 6'10 correct? That's what he is listed at anyway, and he has a PF body. His rebounds in Sacramento would be more than what he gets there since we are such a horrible rebounding team to begin with. If the guy would understand how to play his role and give us 15/9 than I would totally take him.

Fully agree with this. The Kings either need a bold move to take our middling team to contender status (e.g. the Suns signing Nash) or to get a great lottery pick. Adding Gooden + junk might make us marginally worse, but would leave us as a mediocre team that still didn't have any cap space.

Unless Petrie can get a great deal, the best move right now might be no move. Let the kids develop and don't commit any more cap space. And before someone blasts this and says we have to make a move, of course any positive one like Bibby for young potential and picks or Kenny Thomas for anything that doesn't have an uglier contract would be nice. But trading Bibby for .50 cents on the dollar without gaining cap space is not the way to go.

The only marginal player that is potentially available that I would want on this team is Etan Thomas...The guy doesn't score with the mediocre-est of them, but he can easily be a 7pt/10reb/2blk kind of guy if given consistent minutes as a guarenteed starter.

And I'll instantly take that over what Miller/SAR/Thomas give us on a nightly basis.

Other than that, no quick stop-gaps damn it!

Imagine paying this PF trio $70 mil over the next 4 seasons

Gooden,SAR,KT

yikes.

What we have to do no matter who we trade is try and get rid of SAR or KT perferably KT. If that means taking on a bad contract like Damon Jones. I am all for Gooden coming if KT is leaving thats 1 less year and saves us about 3mil over the next 2 seasons. Like what has been said before you just can't make all the contracts work out you need a 3rd team unless you want to pay Larry Hughes almost 50 mil for the next 3 seasons
