Rumor? Nocioni to Boston?

Spanish_King

G-League
I saw the piece of new in ultimabola.com (a Argentinean web) this:

Andres Nocioni to Boston.
Tony Allen and Glen Davis to Sacramento.

ultimabola.com -> nba

Glen Davis recently signed a contract and cant be traded until Dec 15, 2009

I will admit having Tony and Desmond on the Kings would be fun to watch.

I read a similar rumor a couple of days ago on a Boston blog. I figured since it was just a fan blog it wasn't worth posting. That rumor had two different players in it. It didn't make since either because the salarys didn't add up.

I know Boston made and attempt at getting Nocioni last season, so they could still be interested. He would be worth more to a team like that anyway.

Glen Davis if a BYC until July 2010. HIs trade value is $1.5M. Allens contract is for $2.5M. So, since Boston is over the salary cap, the deal doesn't fall within the 125% + $100K trade exemption rule. Since, Noc make $7.5M, the Kings would have to take back around $5.8M

If Davis is the object of the trade, they'd have to substitute Perkins for Allen or include Daniel's along with Allen & Davis. Of course we can't do a 3 for one since we added Mason and only have 1 empty roster spot. I won't even go into the fact that the Kings could have made an offer for Davis while he was a free agent. That would be a different thread altogether.

Well said! I looked at Boston's roster and Perkins would have to be included in any deal to make it work. I can't see Boston letting go of Perkins at this point. Yeah I know Garnett can play center and Wallace can play PF, but what if one of them were to get hurt. I just don't see a trade working without a third team being involved.

Anyway we can get rondo? Move Mr. Havoc to the 3?

that would be cool but who would the celtics play at pg if we somehow get rondo? unless we trade sergio and he hasnt even played a game as a king yet. beno makes too much to be included.

I wouldn't mind Big Baby at all, but I don't see him as part of a potential trade. I'm sure the pieces would be similar to what the Kings and Celts discussed right after the Kings had acquired Nocioni. Not the same players but the same type of assets.

Come on guys lets remain real here. Why in the world would Boston trade Rondo? Or Perkins for that matter. They may well still interested in Nocioni, but they're not going to give up any peices that helped get them a championship before. They're interested in Nocioni, not Beno. The question would be, is there anything their willing to give up that would make sense to us. And the answer is probably no.

They have some expiring contracts, but all of them are small amounts, so we would have to take back three players to make it work, none of which I would want. Its not impossible, but we would be trading Noc for cap space. Thats why I would like another team thats looking for cap space involved.

Whats the date on that web site? because that exact rumor was going around at the deadline .. Im guessing its old or speculation.

Nocioni would be perfect for boston, but with BBD's new contract I dont see that deal going down. MAYBE they trade a combo of house/allen/giddens/walker but I feel like the Noc to Boston ship has sailed. Hope Im wrong.

Let's see what works, I will not include Big Baby as he cannot be traded until December.

Perkins + Tony Allen for Nocioni works

Perkins + Eddie House (ender) for Noc works
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5243918

Scalabrine + Tony Allen + Eddie House for Noc works (Works to make me puke!)
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5243919

Otherwise, you can substitute Big Baby for House in any of these deals and the Salary works. I can see a deal for Perkins or Big Baby or even Scalabrine (provided the other parts were quality) being a positive thing to move Nocioni, but the real question is, who else do you get back?

Additionally, this is the trade that I am afraid of:

I guess your entitled to dream on that last one.

The Celtics won't trade Perkins for Nocioni.

Here are some that were discussed on a Celtics fans blog:

The gist is that it would be, in their minds, Scalabrine+Allen+Giddens or Walker

I'm sure Perkins is a no-go.

That makes sense... Scalabrine could be useful, but the Kings have May already... Allen would be fun... but I know nothing about Walker or Giddens... does anyone else?

Well there all on the last year of their contracts. Giddens being a team option and Walker being not guaranteed after this coming season. Walker is a young athletic SF, who I think played over in europe last year. Not sure about that so I would have to check.

I went and took look and he was drafted by Wash in the second round in 2008. He played sparingly with Boston last year, so he must have come over in a trade of some kind.

If we take back a bunch of expiring contracts from Boston for Nocioni, I'd be much happier about the Chicago trade. I don't personally like any of the actual pieces Boston has is worth keeping for more than a year.

Me too, obviously it'd be nice to get a pick too. Boston might not even particularly care since their roster is still pretty set.

Boston has tons of young athletic talent that they struggle to find minutes for because they're a contending team, and I would definitely be glad if Noc was traded for some package variation involving Tony Allen and/or Bill Walker. That being said, I'm sort of skeptical if Ainge would pull this off--for one, they're really getting older after adding Sheed this year, and trading young talent for a guy who's no spring chicken would mean that they're putting all their eggs in one basket. But on the other hand he seems to be aggressively trying to trim his roster by shopping Tony Allen in particular. Perkins won't be traded--he's their only player with a combination of size and strength. I would trade Noc for Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, and insist that Bill Walker be in the deal as well--it gives us an insurgence of athleticism and perimeter defensive potential, and the contracts are pretty cheap as well. Ainge does this deal for a James Posey-like backup and to clear roster space, and to go all in.

I had to go back and read my notes on walker and Giddens. Similar type players in that their both very athletic dunkers and both are pretty good defensive players. Of those two I like Walker the most. He's built like a tank with an NBA body. He's a little short to play SF in the NBA but I believe he can play the shooting guard. He could be the long range replacement of Martin if we were to ever trade him or he becomes too injury prone. Probably not going to happen anyway.

I like Bill Walker a lot--think the guy's got a lot of potential, and he impressed me enough in small doses last season that I would almost consider him the centerpiece of this deal for us. Athletic marvel, strong, extremely aggressive both ways--slashing to the basket/chasing offensive rebounds, and also on defense. His head might not be on straight and he does have a history of injury problems, but on a cheap contract with his potential you don't even think twice. But the problem is that I'm pretty sure Boston realizes what it's got, and I don't think they'd trade him unless they really coveted a player...whether that's Noc, I'm not sure.

I think from the kings perspective this is basically a salary dump.

wow @ how underrated Perkins is. The guy is a big pshyical guy who rebounds, block shots, defends, and always plays hard.

Sure he's not a dominant scoring C, but hes a really really really good role player.

We can't get Perkins anyhow--he has a good contract relative to his talent level, and that would seriously deplete Boston's size/interior game; we're not trading away our any members of our young frontcourt, so it's a no go. Besides, I'd think Perkins would be quite untouchable--his style of game is perhaps more in demand than Nocioni's. Not to mention Perkins is 6 years younger.

Again, I'll be satisfied with a Bill Walker/Tony Allen type deal, mainly for Walker, but I also like how Tony Allen applies his athleticism on both ends of the court.
