Yeah I noticed that. Too bad it evinces more prima donnaism, but it is interesting. Of course flies 100% in the face of our toughnes kick, but the kid does have talent.

Given their problems getting a top level PG, if I was the Blazers I might be twmpted to just start a Roy/Rudy/Hedo trio at the 1/2/3 spots and let them share ballhandling duties. No true point, but collectively plenty of passing.
 
He wants playing time. We already have Martin and Garcia at shooting guard and three small forwards. Unless we trade Garcia for him, it won't be long before he's asking out of Sacramento too.
 
that would be cool... trade a pick or cash for rudy. we would have to move beno to make room for rudy. not at pg but to give minutes to evans so that rudy can back up martin.
 
Dude says he wants to play overseas because clubs are dangling 5+million euros in his face. Would you like the kings to renegotiate his contract and pay him the 3,587,546.91 dollars a year equivalent just to shut his whiny prima donna face hole and play basketball? I don't like him for this. I say no.

They can dangle all they want -- sometimes I think Euro players are a little confused by the rules over here because of the chaos in Europe, but he is under contract, most likely for 3 more years. Nor was he just signed as a free agent the way it would have happened in Europe -- Portland had to use an asset (draft pick) to get him. They aren't going to just release him and say our bad.

The number of prima donna moves by Spanish players here is rapidly making me question the whole lot of them. Orlando's big wimp of a draft pick that never came over. Navarro bolts after a year. Rubio's will he or won't he routine. Fernandez now. What's next? Is Sergio going to demand to start? My mom is mostly Spanish -- gotta ask her what is up.
 
I love Rudy's game, and would be all for going after him, especially given how cheap his salary is right now.I think he will at the very least be one of the top 6th men in the league. Bringing Rudy and Sergio off the bench would really change the pace of a game, as those guys love to get up and down the floor. They would be a good complement to a Tyreke/Kevin starting backout.

Hmm... reuniting Sergio and Fernandez would be an interesting possibility. I would agree they would be a good combo behind a Tyreke and Kevin.

If we could do that and figure out a way to trade or sign a defensive center and/or a starting small forward (if we trade Nocioni). At the very least it would be a good 1 year expirement as well as an exciting one (should be).

Having lived in Mexico for several years and having many Mexican friends, I could explain it, but it would take too long. So It would be better to ask your mom. The simplist answer I can give is that its a cultural difference. And were judging them by our standards. And yeah, I know they're in our country and they should do as the Romans do. But you can't expect whats ingrained in them to simply go away just because they're in the NBA. If you understand their culture, then you would understand that their not primadonnas. They take tremendous pride in their accomplishments. And anything that belittles their accomplishments,is like a slap in the face and disrespectful. Anyway, I could go on, but as I said, it would take too long.

Just remember. Every country in the world is different. They see things differently than we do. Its not your obligation to understand the differences, but intellectually, its helpful

Oh no, I know exactly what you are talking about and have parts of the family well steeped in it, but stepped around it for discrimination type reasons. But I would add in more than the mere overflowing machismo and status consciousness -- that has direct parallels especially in hip hop style street cred culture But petulance, flamboyance, and yes even mama's boyism also all play roles. And no, to the degree that an athlete evinces those traits as part of a culture, I do not believe remotely in cultural relativism -- some things ARE more or less problematic if you are trying to run a professional outfit. Having an entire nation's athletes apparently trying to emulate Steve Francis is one of them.

Dollar is weaker than Euro, so it would be the other way around. 5 Million euros is actually like 7 million dollars.

Further, the amounts reported in Europe are net (after tax) salaries, whereas we in the states report gross (before tax) salaries. Take in that discrepancy, and you have an equivalent salary of 12-14 million for a young low level starter in Rudy Fernandez.

Doesn't sound so small potatoes now, does it?

Is there anybody else that thinks that the fact that the Trailblazers traded away his friend plays into the whole situation? Making him feel alienated and such? I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Fernandez in a Kings uni. There's an interesting dynamic in his play, especially when on the court with Rodriguez, would make me even more excited if I were actually in a position to see any of the games in person.

I think you understand that I wasn't endorsing his behavior, but just explaining that the behavior is ingrained in him by his culture. Be careful Bricky. You might have a little of that blood flowing in your veins.:D

yea i dont like their attitudes, just suck it up and play. especially Fran Vazquez, thats sad and heartbreaking to orlando fans, but that could've been us if rubio was drafted.

I disagree, I think Rudy is a much better player than Garcia. Garcia is too inconsistent. Even when GArcia is at his best, Rudy is still better. Quicker, better penetrator, more athletic, better shooter. I like Garcia for his hustle but to me there's just no comparison.

And I will pop in to disagree with you. Garcia had better numbers than Fernandez across the board last season.

You dont want either of these players starting for your team, that is why Garcia is a better value .. he is really quite versatile and by all accounts a really good influence on your team. A good glue guy and team leader, a potential sixth man of the year. He is also a better defender than Rudy.

However, if the Kings were offered that trade I would consider it just because of the salary match up.
 
I would rather have Rudy than Garcia for the simple fact that I think Rudy has a higher ceiling than Garcia. I don't see Garcia improving anymore, he is what he is, but I think Rudy will continue to improve each year for the next 4-5 years. He's know where near fulfilling his potential.
