Let's say we don't trade down and we don't trade up in the 2009 draft. What if Rubio doesn't fall to us? What if we end up with James Harden instead of reaching for a PG. Harden can be a valuable shooting SF, much like Rashard Lewis. With our two next picks, do we still reach for a PG or select the best player available OR stink it up another year and wait for the John Wall draft? If we select a PG this draft, and say we get the number one overall pick next year, what do we do? Draft Willie Warren and trade away Kevin Martin? In my opinion I think we should just wait one more year and stay with Beno. Of course there's the possibility that John Wall may dissapoint. So what would you do?

I'd be more than happy to draft Harden. Then, if possible, trade 23 + 31 for 17ish range and hope draft the PG that falls... Lawson, Maynor, Holiday.

Sounds like a great draft to me!

I would assume that if we were to not take a PG with our first pick, we would be in the market for one with our #23. There we'd likely be looking at Collison, Maynor, and Mills, with a very low chance of Teague or Lawson. But I don't see any of those guys as being a reason to pass on Wall next year. It's nice to have a solid backup point.

I don't see Willie Warren as being a #1 overall type (or a guy you'd trade away Martin to make room for) as of now.

First off, Harden isn't a SF. He's a shooting guard that at times in the right match up could play a little PG. So Reggie Lewis is not a good comparison. But if we pick him at four, then likely we would take a PG at 23. Whoever is the best of the rest thats left.

As far as next year goes, if for some chance we get a shot at John Wall, then you take him. He's going to be a special player. If not, then you take the best player available.

First off, even Harden said he could transition himself into a SF if ever he needs to be. He said he isn't a one dimensional player, and will become what the team selects him needs for him to become, and at 6'5, almost 6'6, it's not out of the question for him to become a scoring SF. Second of all, his name is Rashard Lewis, not Reggie Lewis hahaha. I'm hoping for John Wall.

Well, if he said it then it must be true

Regardless of who we pick in this draft we're still going to be bad next year. Rubio isn't going to magically make this team a contender in his first season. Either way were likely looking at another high pick next year. If the right positional pieces don't fall into place with this draft then we can use the next one to fill them accordingly. I don't think we should reach for a certain position. This team has a lot of holes to fill.

and Rashard Lewis is 6'10", they're not even close to the same player. Harden is a 2. we already have the guy you should be comparing to a young Rashard Lewis.

Freudian slip, I meant Rashard. Hardin may be able to play at the SF position in the right match up, but being that you mentioned Lewis, I would just love to see him try and guard Lewis. Come on, the guys a shooting guard. who is a lot closer to 6'5" than he is 6'6". I'm not trying to be critical of him. If you've followed my posts, I'm one of his biggest supporters.

Out chances of getting Wall next year are probably pretty slim, but then the Clippers chances were slim too...

Actually, as bad as it was to be the worst this year and end up with the 4th pick, I was thinking it could've happened next year instead, with Wall on the table. Being a pessimist, I know things can always get worse. :p
