Projecting the first 5 picks:

I just hope someone before us drafts Beal. That means at least one between Robinson, MKG and Barnes will be available for us. I just don't want to chose between Beal and Drummond. That would be the worst case scenario in my opinion.
My thoughts exactly.

I would prefer a SF (Barnes or MKG) but I would be fine with Robinson. I don't want Drummond and I don't see how Beal fits into this team at all.

I'm starting to really believe MKG is going to fall to us at #5. I'm going to be as nice as I can here while I make this point, but did you guys see this interview with him from the combine?

Let me start off by saying that it would be a mistake if someone passed on him for this reason, but due to his speech impediment I think he's going to have a hard time selling himself to some of the teams in front of us. All of the experts talk about how important the interviews are. Most call them the most important part of the pre draft process. The sit down dinners when players are in for individual workouts mean a lot.

When you look at the others guys in the top 4 range .. those guys sell themselves HARD. That is one of the things I really like about Thomas Robinson. I'm convinced he's going to talk his way into the top 4. Bradley Beal has a lot of this in him too. MKG's 'I don't care where I go' mentality is great for us, but possibly bad for teams looking for go-getters. No one will question MKG's toughness, energy, mentality, or fire ... but those guys can TALK that game better than MKG can.

That's just the off the court stuff, the other thing is his numbers. When was the last time a non-big / non point guard, American born player was taken in the top 4 averaging less that 12 ppg? This can't happen often, if ever. I think teams ( and really we only need Washington and Charlotte to pass ) will put these two things together, among other things (team needs) allowing MKG to drop to us.

I don't think this is wishful thinking either. I really think this is happening. At least that is how I feel at this point in the pre draft process. Some team could easier fall in love with him and trade into Charlotte's spot though.

EDIT: Also found this one, where he talks about the Kings.

Portland picks fourth

Anyone mention that Cleveland is talking of switching its picks with Portland, this would have portland pick fourth and cleveland (thinking Beal is available) picking sixth.

Question is what does Portland want?

What is the last draft Portland didn't make moves/trades/more moves/more trades?

i wouldnt be shocked if he's still on the board at 5. People keep saying w/ w top 5 pick, you shuld really be drafting a superstar/franchise player, and analysts have kind of questioned whether or not MKG has the potential to be an offensive superstar caliber player

im just going to keep my fingers crossed.....

Wow...is that guy high or something? My goodness...

Gilchrist is extremely shy when talking in front of people. If you watch closely, he seldom makes eye contact. I remember the Kentucky press conference that was held for all five guys to declare for the draft along with Calapari. Gilchrist had the hardest time. For what its worth, Albert Einstein had the same problem. When he steps on the court, he becomes a different person. Now if you were hiring him to be a public speaker, then I'd be worried.

Portland needs a center and a PG. They could get a PG staying right where they are, so I doubt thats where their looking. If they resign Batum, they don't need a SF. They have Aldridge at PF, so unless they're looking for insurance at the postion with Robinson, I doubt thats where they're looking. My best bet is Drummond. They need a center, and they could get any of the other centers in the draft not named Davis or Drummond by staying right where they are.

If this happens, they are picking Drummond....bookmark it!

They need a C ir a PG and moving up to 4th makes no sense for a PG. They figure we have interest in Drummond who is by far the best C prospect in this draft so the ol y way they get him is to trade up!

Someone might trump them by trading with Charlotte for #2 pick

I knew this was going to come up sooner or later and really it's a good thing for us. Gilchrist isn't well-spoken in interviews but everyone knows he can play basketball. Fortunately some teams get themselves so hyped up on the pre-draft process that they start to focus on interviews and combine results and they forget about all the game tape. I still think he should be #2 on our draft board after Anthony Davis. We only need 3 GMs to make a mistake. Tyreke and Demarcus didn't help themselves with interviews either and we can see how that turned out.

Robinson, Drummond, and Barnes all did well at the combine and they're going to help themselves even more with workouts I think. After Davis, those are the three players with the highest ceiling in the draft (and possibly Perry Jones) and I'd be happy if any of them fell to us but Gilchrist probably helps us the most.

I don't consider myself stupid but I have the same issues when talking with people, and even posting on forums. A lot of things I say don't come out quite right. Putting my thoughts on paper or vocalizing them are my biggest weaknesses.

Or they could swap picks with the Kings. Maloofs would only ok if 3 million is included. :D
