here's a terrifying thought -- but jsut watching the Celtics this year I have been struck by the notion that I might actually see the method behind Ainge's madness. One old PG to keep them organized + show the kids how to be pros (ironic choice of old PG of course), the star player to do the heavy lifting. And then a lot of relatively young kids with a sprinkling of roleplaying vets. Lets the kids develop in a coccoon of pros. Aren't going to win anything today, but just enough older talent to avoid the Bulls type mess where nobody knows how to play.
Bag on Ainge for a lot of things but call him an idiot at your own peril. Much like Kiki Vanderweige he inherited a real mess and has made a series of good moves to straighten things out. Had the brains to loose Walker before the entire NBA figgured out his downside. Kept Pierce and managed to dump some very raw tallent in long term contracts on LA, picked up a blue light special old gloves, and then got an instant salery dump from Rick Faux as a bonus. Celts will be in the paly offs and no it isnot likley they will get out of the second round, but they actualy havea very decnet future. One great FA aquisation and the right role palers away from moving up to be a contender.

Well I'll still cheerfully call him stupid until absorbing LaFrentz's long term silly contract and trading away Chris Mihm (and TRYING to trade away his yojng PG too) for Gary Payton turn out to be good moves. :) Also not sold on his ability to evaluate kids. But regardless of all of that, it has at least occurred to me here that he has a plan, which is something you would have had a hard time convincing me of 6 months ago.

Ainge was not going to loose Walker who was a down right liablity with out taking a player with a dwon side. Rafe may not be worth the 10 mill a year hemakes, but in the east he is an acceptable bi man on a team that likes to run. As for tradikng Mihm, Mihm more or less sucked last season, and more importantly the LA trade was realy about freeing up money for NEXT seasn. Faux is gone already and Payton will be off the books at the end of the season. This sends Ainge to the FA market and we can see how good he is by who he picks up there. The teamhe inherited was fige with bloated contracts and a lot of non productive players. The have little hope of getting well in the lottery, so if they are going to rebuild it will be a two steps forward on step back process, much like both Minny and Denver over the past 3-5 seasons.

I'm sure Lafrentz would be alright in the East, but that's only when he plays, which is more the exception than the rule. If he can find someone to take that contract off his hands and get himself some more experienced depth, then I'll have more respect for him. I'm also curious to see how Delonte West develops.

4-2, Clippers!

Weeeee are the chaaaampions...my friiiiieeeennd!!! I can't believe the Clippers won a series.

Bah, democracy be misplaced in the NBA, Just look at the All-Star game.

But, I suppose it's true what they say. Vox Populi, Vox Deus.

Clips easily take the knicks and celts. With Brand, Magette, and improving pgs Jaric and Livingston, clips are looking better every day.

Not too bad. It could be a lot worse considering we got off to an 0-3 start. I think it will mater more when we start getting some road wins.

Celts lost to Indy without you know who.

The defending World Champions lost to the Bobcats. Nothing much ado about that.

Now that would have been a real tribute ;)

Yeah, it would take a lot of courage to sport those things this time of year. Actually, it takes a lot of courage to wear short shorts anytime. ;)
