Yeah, probably, but the rumors were the Suns weren't interested in keeping him. I wonder if they would be buying him out?

it’s possible but Monte gives lawyer answers, not going to get anything out of him.
That is counter-indicative of what everyone else is saying (whatever moves we make will be for bench/role guys) but it is the Monte we know and love/hate.

The salary is pretty much impossible to match unless Monk is going. And pay 90 million for a backup F? If Monte did something like that and the Kings don't jump in the standings he probably just lost his job and made it extremely difficult to find the next GM to clean up the mess. And the cap would be a mess if you are going to rebuild.

Nice try, Monte. We all know what "flexible pieces" mean? I think we're still paying KT and SAR. What's the use of flexibility if we are not using it?

Still worth a shot and worth holding onto the picks until you see what the summer brings.
There hasn't really been any indication of that has there? He just wants to win. I think? I've never seen any indication he is motivated by the lifestyle. It's frustrating that guys like Giannis and Dame at least do their third contracts with their clubs and wait until those teams exhaust every last breath before forcing their way out. Dame even let Portland tank for two straight seasons before throwing in the towel.

You mean the Fox deal? This isn't what Webber got here. Monte got a legit all star level player when healthy and picks. This is ACTUALLY flexible.

Giannis recent comments about big market teams may indicate otherwise. He has been loyal to the Bucks so far but when he leaves, it will likely be a big market. Players and agents are smart. After Luka's trade, player loyalty is a cuss word.

Maybe if the beam is bright enough the sell job could do the trick. The Kings obviously have to start winning though. If the Kings ended up making a lateral move with LaVine and this rebalancing of the roster doesn't do the trick it will never happen. Then you just reverse course. Develop Keon, Keegan, Carter, Isaac Jones, etc. as much as you can, clear your cap ASAP, and scout well. As of yet there shouldn't be any more seasons of just waiting like the last 2 and the 20 before it, lol.
Didn't see the recent comments and you are right about loyalty, though I do think most top tier players like Luka and even second tier like Fox are going to try to get super maxed before leaving. I am sure Luka would have signed the super max and asked out if Dallas was going nowhere in two years. The decision to move him before it getting there was bold and probably will harm other markets.
But also the whole super max thing needs to be evaluated, and probably under the new CBA the % cap on all max contracts should be looked at so that the middle class can flourish.
He's not coming here lol but I think he would push us into top 3 team status.

I'm ok with the Fox deal. When you are in "win now" mode, any time you get a player in the same tier, you take it and run.
Monte likes to play safe, hedge his bets and save for future flexibility but he never really uses it to address concerns. The lack of length and size was exposed in the playoffs against Warriors and play-in against Pelicans, yet Monte has not taken any serious action. With older players, we're in an accelerated timeline.

I'd go for a 5% chance of Giannis before 100% of some of these other options people want Monte to send out a 1st for, lol.
100% with you on that. Sending a first (or two like initially demanded) for Cam would be criminal, especially since Fox was out the door. It's clear now he's been out the door for a long time. And now we owe Mike Brown 30 million to not coach the team because despite Fox being out he said we needed to keep him.

I'd ship 3 picks for a two year rental on Giannis and give the guy charter flights anywhere he wants to go on his off days in the hope he re-signs for 3 more.

His first few years he didn't. He did all he could to build around Fox. He traded a 1st for a need guy in Huerter that has kind of hindered Montes process for sure, he traded a rising young star in Hali (I'd still pick Fox too BTW), he ditched picks/youth to unload Holmes and sign DeMar (that swap could hurt down the line), and he almost killed any chances to send out a future pick haul package via trade for immediate need in Collins. He also went full on plan B run it back when his cap after the Holmes signing didn't come together which also took some digging to get out of with some of the previous moves listed above. Monte hopefully learned why you don't assume if there is clear data indicating flaws. The first year team did great, for about 3-4 months. The reality was the NBA got better around him and all the numbers indicated a decline in year 2 and ineffective performances come playoff time. The great thing now is he can go any direction. That's EXACTLY where you want to be if you're the Kings. Don't assume that LaVine and trading picks for something meh is the answer. Not yet. See how the rest of the season shakes out first. THEN make your moves. The Fox thing should have been the same way but that turd of a situation has been flushed. Wait and see is the smart plan. If they can get a decent player for a 2nd and the TPE fine, but trying to seal his own fate before he sees what this team is is how he's gotten in trouble before. Even if it initially worked for a stretch. Fools gold is called that for a reason. Sorry, it was fools gold to an extent we know that now.

That would be disappointing and fireable offense. Although he may bamboozle Vivek that he can use those in the off season to save his job. We have some roster spots to fill, who are we going to fill those with?
Monte is already fired or he will be given one more year. I'm kind of fine with either, but he was given the orders to build a playoff team around Fox and he did. Quite quickly and impressively. Then the star player quit on the team. He got Domas here though who is a guy you can build around as well, and we have the assets to do it. And we have two other vet leaders in the West Coast Bulls and Keegan who is a complete and total workhorse who thus far has done everything his coaches have asked of him.
I say give Monte a chance and don't rush it just to try to get as far as possible this year.

I get fans always want something now, but imagine this summer. Monte is in position to spend with no cap space. He's got the MLE for signings or trade. He's got a 16 million dollar TPE. He's got 2nds a plenty FINALLY. This is a pretty deep FA class too. He can play both sides. He can go to players and offer a full MLE. He can go to teams and offer the possibility of facilitating their own moves. Don't lose your knight to take out a pawn.

Understood, I am hoping for a backup C that’s all, I would be happy with Jonas, etc. I worry about Domas logging so many minutes and the drop off from him is bigger than any of the other starters.
Most important piece we can add. I agree.
Then a proper backup for Keegan.
Then an actual PG just in case we ever need one. Which might just be the final 30 seconds of a close game.
People were clowning him for saying it, but he's also right. We are on track for our 3rd winning season in a row here. Good enough? No, of course not. But considering this franchises history, that DOES mean something. I've said this multiple times, but think how disappointed we were last season with the result. And that was the sixth most wins this team has ever had in the regular season.
My two cents is you let him play this out here with the LaVIne/DDR window over the next few years. If he fails, clean house, trade Domas, trade Monk and reset this thing.
