Post game thoughts 12/27

The “It is still a W edition.”

I’m still baffled by how often Martin sits out the majority of most 2nd quarters.

What did Ronnie Price do wrong? I sorta understand the desire to reward players for working hard in practice, and maybe Douby will be a good pro, but he looks lost on the court. And most times, the Kings are playing four-on-five on the offensive end.

So does anyone still think the Kings should have tried to get Andre Miller? Or Samuel Dalembert? Or anyone else on the Sixers besides Andre Iguodala?

Corliss…

Okay, I was at the game tonight and I’ve had a couple observations during the few games I’ve been to this season and I need to air them out:

-Why is music playing all the time? If I wanted to go to a club, I’d go to a club.

- Do people think there are gold pieces in the t-shirts and little plastic balls that are thrown/shot into the crowd? I cannot think of any other reason to get excited about otherwise worthless objects. Kids, sure, but adults?

- Somewhat on that note, they had the pep squad, or whatever they are called, throwing out t-shirts at the beginning of the game. Is this really necessary? I’m not really a rah-rah guy, but what happened to simply cheering because you are excited to see the game?

- That lion, Slamson, is very not cool for lack of a more appropriate printable term.

Because if they didn't, you'd be able to actually hear Arco Arena crumbling to the ground.

Yes.

Sadly, they're only cheap chocolate coins and all of the rioting is for naught.

C'mon, man! Free t-shirts!! Your heart is made of stone.

Agreed. And he has a creepy face.

Though I have been known to let out a chuckle or two when they bring out the inflatable Slamson.

I haven't been to a game all season... no wonder they're losing.

Im actually all for Quincy getting PT...He's eventually going to be a pretty good pffensive weapon, and the quicker we get him into game-ready shape, the better.

All of us talk about how we should rebuild, well Quincy may be a piece of that, and I think he deserves it.

Corliss is our best bench player...I don't know if that's a good thing, but he does good things for our team when he is in.

Bibby looked better...Keep it up.

Ron played as good as I wanted him to...He didn't force, and he was pretty passive...He also was being quite the ball hawk on defense...Keep it up and shut the doubters and criticts up!

Extend the win streak guys!

So does anyone still think the Kings should have tried to get Andre Miller? Or Samuel Dalembert? Or anyone else on the Sixers besides Andre Iguodala?
Yeah, me. Miller is still averaging thirteen points on forty-eight percent shooting, and is third in the league in assists. Even on an off night, he still managed fourteen and five and, if his team could have shot better than thirty-eight percent on the night, I'm sure he'd have finished with more than five.

Are you seriously trying to use one mediocre game against us as some kind of evidence that he's overrated, or something? That makes as much sense as signing Jerome James to a $30M contract based on what he does against us...

I've been wondering that for like the last...8 freaking years actually!!...I'm at a Kings game, not a Snoop Dogg concert, dammit! An organ with some clap sounds works just fine for me when I'm at a game, thank you!

Miller, Dalembert, Iggy -- all those guys would look much better in other uniforms, in a real system, with a real coach. What they have is such a disaster that anybody south of an individual superstud like a Jordan or whatnot would look awful over there. There is no system, no organization. They just run around randomly, do compeltely random stuff, there is no teamwork, no trust, no chemistry, no nothing. Makes everybody look worse then they are.

douby is still hesitant when hes on the court
at times he just wants to get rid of the ball
practice and the game itself is totally diffenrent as he may play like MJ in practice and freak out in the game.
The possibilities although are endless. He can hit that 3 bomb and imo he and garcia can have breakout seasons next year if they both work their tails off like kevin did.

He was third in the league while he was with Denver with the league's leading scorer. Watch that number plummet over the next couple months. If he were with the Kings, I surmise most games would look like tonight's game.

You could almost say the same things about the Kings right now.

Because every young guard in the NBA can have a breakout season if they practice hard?

I have no idea if they can or cannot -- its hard to write off guys in their first year. But those guys have shown nothing remotely special as NBA players. I could go around to almost every team in the league and pick out young guys who look every bit as good or better at this point. Kevin is kind of a special situation. Happens every once in a while, but the lesson isn't that guys picked at #20+ are going to routinely blossom into anything more than rotaion guys at best, NBDLers at worst.

You could I think, at least in some respects. I certainly think Ron, Brad and Mike have been illserved and look incredibly uncomfortable in whatever system we are supposed to be running. I also think Cisco has been held back. And many of our bench guys as well as KT have incosnistent minutes and stints that jsut have to be disruptive. We are still on an entirely different plane than the Sixers though. They just look like they have absolutely no idea what they are doing out there. The ONLY reason I cna imagine Cheeks still has his job is because of his iconic status in Philly. Or former iconic status -- I know those fans, and an icon who sucks it up badly enough is going to be beaned in the head with a cheesesteak sooner rather than later.

Kevin was sick. He hadn't been able to hold down his last four meals. He looked weak and wobbly when he was taken out the first time. No mystery on why Muss wasn't in a hurry to send him back onto the court.

Can you imagine how it would have been if poor Kev had a bout of projectile vomiting on the court and some of the crowd responded with sympathy vomiting?

Not a pretty sight...

Yeah, I didn't know that until I had already posted and read something from, well, you if memory serves. The funny thing/hindsight point is that this isn't uncommon when he is feeling well.

..

we should save thid for the road game against the Lakers. It would be awsome

My thoughts:

The fact that he can be guarded by Miller really puts Webb's decline in perspective

Stephen Hunter impressed me with a couple nice passes from the post. Nonexistent on the boards, though, which keeps him from being an impact big man.

An organ with some clap sounds? What is this, baseball?

LOL

All I was saying was that I agree with the whole 'don't want to hear clubbin' music DURING a basketball game'. I'm cool with during timeouts and stuff, but I don't wanna hear Dr. Dre(or anyone else, for that matter) while we're bringing the ball up the court. I mean, does the crowd actually respond to it when it's played? Nope.

Exactly.

They even showed Kevin in the fourth on the bench with a towel over his head vomiting into a cup. Ron Artest was beside him rubbing his back, comforting him. The fact that Kevin even played speaks volumes about his toughness.

Thank god for Kevin Martin or it would be all doom and gloom around here.

If you have this many complaints, maybe you shouldn't attend anymore games.

The Sixers have $28M in contracts that expire this year, and another $27-28M that expire the next year, plus multiple first round picks in each of those years. Unless their management totally wastes the opportunity, we are going to be very jealous of their roster a couple of years down the road.

They have a lot that I would trade for.

It is correct that Martin doesn't get as many minutes as you'd expect for someone with his stats. Makes no sense to me. Especially when the game is at a critical point and we take out Kevin and put in... whoever played well in practice.

I also wonder what happened to Ronnie Price since I don't see Douby doing a darn thing better.

If it's "getting young guards time on the court to develop" then why one and not the other? Or why not just start Price, Douby, and Garcia and hey, let them all develop while we lose every game.

I love the idea of projectile vomiting en masse at the Staples Center. Sign me up.
