yeah he is looking better. I have him at 6 behind the usual top 4 and AJ.
 
Keegan having another dominant performance in the first half of the Big 10 semis. He was doing it with his shot earlier and is now doing it by running hard and smart in transition.
 
I’m watching the Indy vs. Iowa game and truthfully no prospect has really popped. Murray is producing, but I still see a Harrison Barnes ceiling. Nothing wrong with that, but would hope for a greater upside pick.

He's just flat out good. A lot of really nice things on defense too, with real potential to be an excellent 4-man defender. I still don't know if I trust him check 3's yet, but I wouldn't say he won't be able to do it. Seems very similar to Barnes on D where he's better at the 4, but can defend 3's if absolutely needed.
 
Keegan is such a smart player. Never in the wrong place. Helps that he's also shooting like a Curry brother today.
 
There are small flashes from Trayce Jackson-Davis, but I’m not convinced he’ll translate. He’s smart, has good vision, facilitates. But the average athleticism, 5 stuck in a 4s body, and okay skill level is hard to buy into.

Yea, credit to Iowa, but I really hate those shots that are so bad, it goes in. Kinda like that Jalen Suggs prayer shot against UCLA last year. The narrative afterwards was like Suggs is just a clutch superstar, but the reality is that shot was just so horrible it somehow banked and went in.

75% of March Madness buzzer beaters are horrible shots that would never happen in the NBA because there would be a better, less ridiculous angle to make a play from every single time.

Still fun as hell but not exactly the best basketball.
 
I would get excited about Murray's performance today, except that he does this almost every game. He's a very consistent player. Todays line was he scored 32 pt's on 11 of 17 shooting over all and went 8 for 10 from the 3pt line. He also had 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots. It's almost sad to see him playing this well because he may play his way out of our reach. For those questioning his 3pt shot, it's improved all season long. He was shooting around 32% earlier in the season and had slowly raised it throughout the season to around 38%. Get him into the NBA where his only job is improve his game 24/7, and I think you'll see that shot improve even more.
 
I don't see Murray getting into the top 4, maybe 5-6. He's developed and his lack of elite foot speed will probably keep him down a bit. With someone like him, Obi Toppin being jerked around early in his career might hurt him a bit as teams could see both of them as kind of tweeners and what can happen if they don't fit a team right.

Iowa misses again and Rutger brings the ball down the floor. They have a cutter and the pass is made and Murray anticipates the pass, steals the ball and goes the length of the floor for a dunk.

A bit later Rutgers gets the ball to a player under the basket, and there's Murray with weakside help that causes a turnover. Believe me, I would love to have Holmgrem or Smith on the Kings, but if we could come away with Murray, I'd be happy as a clam. He knows how to play the game. In his last ten games prior to todays game he has scored, 26pt's, 22pt's, 23pt's, 26pt's, 15pt's, 28pt's, 24pt's, 23pt's, 37pt's, 30pt's. During that span he's averaged 57% overall, and 46% from the three. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds per game.

I honestly have never gotten this age thing. So your drafting a player that's 21 or 22 years old, and you have him on a rookie contract for 4 years meaning that he's then 25 or 26 years old. If he's a keeper you sign him to a 5 year extension which at the end of he's 30 or 31 years old. By this time he's been on your team for 9 years, which is longer than the average. In the case of Murray, you'd be drafting a younger player in hopes that in a couple of years, he might be as good as Murray is right now. Where is the logic in that. That's like throwing a diamond away and replacing it with a piece of coal and hoping that piece of coal turns into a diamond.

Also watched the Auburn game, and they got their butt's kicked. I don't think Auburn is going anywhere in the tournament. Their guard play is just horrible. Smith didn't shoot the three very well today, but shot the ball well overall for 17 pt's. Auburns guards or the chuckers as I like to call them combined to go 4 for 27 from the floor with Johnson going 0 for 14. Almost every shot Smith took was self created, and highly contested. The NBA will seem like a relief to him. I don't remember Kessler's exact stat line, but he went something like 5 for 8 from the floor. He only took 8 shots while his guards were chucking up 27 shots. unbelieveable! Wisconsin and Johnny Davis coming up next!

I was just looking at his stats. It seems like he should be ranked higher than the 7-9 area. Don't you think he's a top 3 player?

Obi's problem is he needs some to create his looks for him in the PnR. His on-ball shot creation is just bad overall. That senior year explosion just ended up being pretty fluky i think. Considering that, it's pretty hilarious the Knicks drafted him when they've struggled so much to find a lead creator over the last 5 years.

I don't see that same struggle with Keegan. He's shown a bevy of on-ball creation moves and has shouldered the Iowa offensive load fairly impressively. I think Keegan is leagues ahead of on defense where Toppin was as a prospect too.

It's just that right now the threat of being a tweener is a big deal. It's hard to survive. I do think Murray is a little more Barnes than true stuck tweener though. Still, top 4? Eh. I do like him more than Banchero to be honest, but I can totally see why a team in the top 4 would take that physical upside and age difference. Murray uses his length well, but when asked to switch he gets a bit stuck in the mud at times.
 
I think Murray will be the riser after March madness. For the Kings' sake, I think we need Johnny Davis and TyTy Washington to have a big tournament run so that the top teams will fall in love with them.

In that scenario, I think we'd target Bennedict Mathurin or Ochai Agbaji. Jalen Duren and Johnny Davis would probably get some serious thought, but their odd roster fit would bump them down behind Mathurin and Agbaji who would help answer our shooting woes.

I stilll think Davis has great upside. The thing is post trade deadline, both Davis and TyTy aren't exactly poor fits. TyTy is a little more combo G leaning towards PG but could still play next to Fox.

Yeah I don't get why Davis couldn't be an awesome plug and play at the 2 guard. Full-sized, excellent defender/rebounder and has a chance to be a really special scorer. I'm the biggest DDV homer on the board, but he wouldn't preclude me from drafting Davis as the future.

I also believe that Johnny Davis has great upside, but I don't think we should be team to try and figure it out. 3pt shooting is one of our biggest weaknesses on the team, and it's also Davis'. The 3pt shot doesn't even appear to be part of his game anymore for whatever reason. Looking at some of his more recent games, the amount of FG to 3pt attempts is not good.
  • MSU: 19 FGA, 5 threes
  • Purdue: 12 FGA, 1 three
  • Rutgers: 19 FGA, 3 threes
  • Michigan: 17 FGA, 1 three
  • Indiana: 15 FGA, 1 three
That's an alarming trend for a modern day SG. He's also only shooting the 3 at 31.7%.

in regards to TyTy, I don't like the backcourt fit with Fox. They don't really mesh offensively, and their defense would be poor due to the lack of size and strength. We need a legit wing size next to Fox.
 
Watching the first 30 mins of the Va Tech vs. Duke game. Va Tech is a fun team. Got shooting for days. A team full of college TJ McConnells.

Really wish Banchero would pull up from three. Instead of rising and popping tends to face up, juke, dribble, and shoots a shot about a foot in from the three point line.

I think we're in trouble if we have DDV as our starting SG next year. I started out as a big fan of his... but he's probably one of the most frustrating offensive players to watch

I think DDV is better coming off the bench as well. He’s kinda chaotic. A Fox and DDV starting back court would be fun, if you like doing meth. Unpredictable, fast, frenzied. Not the right direction.
