Per Tim Kawakami, Warriors WILL NOT support Kings move to Anaheim

My hatred for the warriors just dipped alittle.

Now to get Cuban on the veto side just in principal for the Hornets trade.

Can somebody please fund the ICON people so that Sacramento can offer up some sort of alternative plan if real resistance to the move materializes at the NBA level?

Cool... not goint to make a difference, but hey, its something.

Should be an interesting next few weeks to say the least...I don't think ANYONE know's WTF is going to happen next with this. Hell, this may blow up in the Maloof's face and they have to make due here...and crawl back to KJ and apologize...or maybe not...who knows?!?

We got to send in some support to Kevin Johnson that he should get the city to pay for it. I believe Glenn had a thread in the new arena forum. Also everyone needs to read Mike's thread about going to city council thing on tuesday.

The thread where I suggest how to do some thing is this thread: Thought for those of us in other NBA cities

I suppose it will be ignored so I am NOT going to the trouble of typing it again. This is the "gosh, I hope someone else fixes this" gang.

What time on Tuesday? I work right across the street from city hall...I'll let everyone at my work know too, they're all in favor of a new arena...for the most part.

I beleive the meeting is at 6:00 and the ralleyers are going to gather just before that? Something like that. think the thread is in the New Arena section -- I stickied it.

I doubt they're the type that would apologize. But if it buys time, then its good news.. Personally I'm tired of this blame game. Both sides have screwed up over the years. It would be nice if everyone, the fans, city council, Mayor, and the Maloofs would put all the crap behind them and get something done. If we do end up another year, then everyone needs to stop pointing fingers. How you come to a resolution isn't always perfect. Everyone has to remember that its not about the jouney, its about the destination.

I could see the other owners being totally against this. Free Agents would probably come easier if the Kings were in the OC and all that means to the rest of the league is less opportunity to snag free agents themselves. If they can get past the curse, the Clippers should have a helluva future with Griffin and Gordon on that team. The Kings for sure have a good future and the Lakers will remain eternally great.... If I were another NBA franchise I would say screw that... La is good enough as it is.

The warriors aren't going to listen to the fans. They are doing what's best for them. They'd rather have a struggling kings team in sacramento than a Ellison owned hornet team in San Jose.

No he's talking about emailing KJ to build an arena plan whether the Kings are here or not, and I suggest EVERYBODY do it.

i really do not think that enough owners will attempt to block the kings move to anaheim...

but if it came to that, hypothetically, how much more feasible would it even make a new arena deal?

personally, i would think it would become even less likely, given the nature of sacramento politics and sacramento media...

my guess is that "us vs. them" small town mentality would set in further, the bee would laugh at the maloofs failed attempt to relocate, and the proud "fans" of sacramento would abandon the kings for attempting to relocate to another city...

kevin johnson and icon/taylor would do the diligence and put forth the effort, but it all just seems so futile, at this point...

it seems to me that the number of people who truly want the kings to stay are in the minority, and they certainly aren't a "vocal minority" of any kind, or in any position of power to affect any kind change...

that said, there's nothing wrong with hope...

its just hard not to be cynical about the politics of this thing, considering how much progress has been of a backward variety for the last ten years...

there's still a ton of ground to make up before any net forward progress can even be accomplished...

What does this have to do with my note? I'm completely lost and it sure proves you don't take the time to read.

Well they only need a majority of 15-14 I think. If the owners were to block them they would try to go other places. They won't all of a sudden be like well that didn't work so lets stay here.

Yes, it's only a majority vote by Board of Governors to move. One of the things that's well known outside of Sacramento is how much Kings owners are liked a lot by their fellow NBA owners and league in general. I'm pretty sure they can muster a majority vote without much difficulty - even if W's and a few others object.

That's nice but we'll need a lot more teams to get on board if theres any hope of blocking the move. Not likely since Stern has said he'll back the Maloofs.

Does Kawakami normally have a lot of insider news?

Because this really doesn't make sense. He is the same guy that said Stern is going to sell the Hornets the Ellison like its inevitable. If thats the case, there is no point for the Warriors voting against the Kings leaving Nor Cal. Its better to have only 2 teams in the area instead of 3 right?

Good post. We, that's everybody involved in the Kings/arena issue, need to move forward and forget about blame. There are positive things that can be done at all levels. Let's do them and help others to do theirs.

Meanwhile, we have a dozen or so guys trying to win basketball games in the NBA. They are interesting and talented. They need support, too. As an aside, one more thing bad about the potential Kings move/arena issue is that it has stopped this board from talking about basketball and our twelve guys. Go Kings. Win tonight. Win Wednesday, I'll be there to root. All you gotta do, guys, is score more points than the other team.

Question is who is on the board of governors? The only info I could find is Glenn Taylor the Wolves owner was just re-elected as chairman.

According the Sam Amick the board of governors is basically the majoriy owners of the teams. So Buss and Sterling are part of the board.
