And any time I think that it can't get more irrelevant arounde here - someone proves me wrong

Oh my goodness. And people blasted my poll because of the choices. At least it wasn't complete fantasy. ;)

Oh good. A nominee for dumbest poll ever...

I should probably move this to the fantasy forum.

I don't mean to be the odd man out. BUT i kinda see what he is saying. Back when Peja was heading downhill for us and Maggette was averaging 22ppg I believe we would have made the swap without much thought. But now its Artest and well all still have this glimmer of hope that Ron will be all that he can be in the NBA. So if Ron is that then the swap for Maggette is dumb. It is yet another gamble.

A. Do you stand pat and let things work out saying it had to get worse before it got better, now its time for the better

B. Do you get him out of town quickly for Maggette because if Ron gets worse the players you get offered will be worse.

Not really. My poll about Digger the Dermatophyte and the Mucinex mucus family was pretty dumb.

Besides, if the Artest/Maggette trade goes through, that's essentially the move we've made.

We got the better end of the Peja/Ron deal by far. Peja did not help the Pacers much, and then sat out of playoffs because of injury. This year after leaving the Pacers for free agency, he has a serious back injury that required surgery and that will keep him out for quite awhile.

Ron, on the other hand, got us into the playoffs last year. We would not have even made the playoffs without him. He is our best player, at least on defense. Having said that.....when it gets to a point where he is more of a liability than an asset to the Kings, then ship him off.

Peja for Maggette?........in a heartbeat
Artest for Maggette?.....only if the situation with Ron (and his baggage) becomes a clear cut issue.

I see you added an option to my poll. Interesting. If you don't care, don't respond, simple as that. No need to say "dumbest poll ever", that could be considered bashing, but as you are a moderator, I guess that is okay for you to do. I simply wanted to see how people would have felt had this trade been Peja for Maggette.

My point exactly. Not many people seem to want the Artest/Maggette swap to happen, but had it been Peja/Maggette we'd all be feeling differently about it. We basically would have gotten a one year loan in Artest which turned into Maggette.

He helped them in PO run and they actually didn't need him having young Granger, so they unloaded his salary. I think it was good trade for Indi and Peja. Not so sure about Kings. Yes, Kings made PO, but after great team we had, it is hard to be delighted with mediocrity.

Oh come on guys, if you don't like the thread/poll, just ignore it. It's in no way offensive, doesn't insult our team or any forum member, and doesn't call anybody out; it's just a question. People have a right to ask questions. And I quote rules 1 AND 11 in "Tips on posting at KingsFans.com," "Don't be a Jerk." Personally, I find it an interesting way to look at things, even if you find it dumb/pointless/irrelevant. Great way to make this place friendly for newcomers.

Peja for Maggette? Well, I was never a huge Peja fan, so I'd do it. Peja's whole "I don't do basketball at home" (or whatever) quote really changed my opinion of him. Dude, you're getting paid millions of dollars to toss around a piece of leather, you damn well better practice at home and do whatever you can to be the best at it. I'll be honest, I don't know much about Maggette, but if he really did average 22 per game a few years ago, then he sounds like a good player. Would I trade Ron for him? Not unless Ron was done in Sac and absolutely needed to be traded. Let's face it, Maggette isn't going to solve our teams problems, and at best, doesn't make us any worse. We need post players. Anything else we do until we get them is superfluous.
