Peace Out Wells ...

PEACE OUT WELLS.... I dont think the Kings want him... Martin is ready NOW ! and signing Wells to a four year deal is just too much money and too much time... wells played tough during the playoffs and might be able to do that again ... he is a stud... but hes getting older and if he were to have injury issues next year... that would make it 3 straight years and would make him very hard to move... which the Kings would do after a year or two at the very most anyway... cause I have no doubt Martin is ready to step in and be a stud... who knows where the ceiling is for him... HUGE PLUS although these are not the Kings of old... with Artest demanding a double team already in the paint the Kings need the 2 guard to have range to make other teams pay for trying to stop Artest... Bonzi hit some big 3's in the playoffs but thats not his game... and luckly I thought that it just worked out that Artest and Wells were good enough to get through the double teams... but theres no reason to have to work that hard on every basket... Artest and Wells wore down...it also forces other teams to not only have to worry about Bibby being the only 3pt. threat... Losing Wells for Martin would help Bibby as well...SO new Kings or not i think the Kings are ready to bring back some 3pt. range ... its to risky to keep wells with Martin just right there ready to be a star... and the paint is to crowed with SAR, Wells, Artest,Thomas, everyone minus Bibby, Miller

BY THE WAY THIS IS MY FIRST POST ... WHAT UP KINGS FANS... CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR ! FIRST TRADING WEBBER, THEN DOUG CHRISTIE FOR MOBLEY, THEN JACKSON FOR WELLS...THEN PEJA... WOW GEOFF IS A GENIUS... CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE DOES... ARTEST FOR PEJA?? WOW IT WOULD HAVE SUCKED TO HAVE WATCHED PEJA LEAVE FOR THE HORNETS ! ! PEACE OUT MOST UN-CLUTCH SHOOTER IN THE NBA...

wow ... everyone chill out... yeah it kinda worked out in the playoffs ... thats if you think a first round exit and Wells and Artest being totally worn out and outta gas was awesome ! ! ... yeah i think having only one real deep threat on the floor was a great strategy ! ! !... yeah right ! wow would have been so much easier for Artest to work if the def. had to actually spread the floor... Miller couldn't shoot and Bibby was the only pure shooter out there ... Artest and Wells were amazing getting through sometimes 3 or more defenders... but GET REAL GUYS we hadn't seen Wells do anything close to what he did in the playoffs during the season... and SERIOUSLY do you think he could handle having to do that an entire season???? what a joke ... no way... yeah he broke down ... and yeah he will break down more from here on out... replace him with Martin and you got the FLASH with 3pt. range... no hes not close to being Wade... but hes fast like the FLASH... plus Martin has been watching Wade and if you look at what he did in the summer league he broke past defenders got to the line... so hes a quick study... plus hes got the 3pt. range ... its not typical shot... but its true... if you spread the freak'n floor Artest crushes fools like Mr. T or Bibby and Martin drain open 3's and you got whatever the PF of the day is playing in the post (SAR should be the first choice not KT)... also and if Miller is still on the team next year hopefully he to will clear out the def. big man and make room for Artest and SAR... Having all these post players DID NOT WORK OUT ! ! ! FIRST ROUND EXITS ARE NOT AWESOME ! ! ! and Wells is going to break down from here on out anyway... Trade him for another player who knows.... a big man that can block shots? slide Miller to the 4 that could be a great move having 2 seven footers on the floor like the Spurs along with Artest, Martin, and Bibby...hmm that could be awesome...

and the paint is to crowed with SAR, Wells, Artest,Thomas, everyone minus Bibby, Miller
And look what it did to the Spurs. Bonzi killed em, SAR made Duncan look silly at times, the only problem was Miller let Parker do a lay up drill at will.

who cares about KT sorry if i called him a post player... his shot is so off and on ... and he gets rebs so he kinda just hangs around the paint... he doesnt spread the floor so ...... thats what i meant ... anyway ... Kenny Thomas needs to bail out ! ! Magloire? E.Thomas? those would be great adds...

I'm not the biggest fan of Brad Miller, but I'd say it was Mike Bibby allowing the lay up drill. Sure, Miller could have done a better job of rotating, afterall you have to know that Mike can't stay in front of anyone especially a speedy PG like Tony Parker- but thats no excuse to let him off the hook.

Bonzi cant do that for an entire season... sorry buddy who are you kidding... and yes the biggest flaw for the Kings was Millers def. but move him to the 4 and then HE HAS HELP vs. HIM BEING THE HELP and the new shot blocking big the Kings should be able to slide at least 2 ft . left to right to contend the lay up drill... plus Miller and the other Big could then work together and guard both sides under the basket instead of miller being the lone last resort...

Miller isn't supposed to guard Parker. If Miller completely moves off his man to Parker, he would just dish it to his center for an uncontested dunk.

Parker does what he did to Miller to almost every big guy.

I agree with the original post. Signing Wells to a huge deal would be a mistake, especially since Kevin Martin is ready to fill the position. Wells seems to always get hurt, and is getting a bit old. Too bad he didn't come to us as a 25 year old.

Brad Miller, playoffs: 9.2pts 3.0rebs 0.8blks

It was Brad.

Allowing a layup drill is the responsibility of the interior defenders. Tony Parker isn't much of a defender himself, yet do the Spurs allow layup drills? No. The reason is because they have a wall back there behind him. The Best PG defenders in the league might be guys like Tim Duncan and Ben Wallace. Even if Mike got beat every single play, that PG should be forced to kick the ball out off the drive. He never is with the Kings, and hasn't been in three years at least.

Wells seems to always get hurt,

I always love this one -- just pulled completely out of midair by people who haven;t watched Bonzi play before this year.

Um...no he doesn't. Just your standard durability NBA player -- missing anywhere from 7-10 games a year (note, Kevin missed 10 this year too). Fairly impressive actually given the physicality of his game. Similar to Ron in a lot of ways.

Who is he kidding? Who are you kidding?

Wells was the leading rebounding guard in the league... and he creates mismatches for sure... great thing to have on any team... but what does artest do agian?

Martin is a scrapy defender with long arms and is 6'7 right? ok he also can get rebs maybe doesnt punish fools in the paint but runs by them... plus is way younger and can hold up doing what he does for an entire season...

MARTIN IS NOT GOING TO WAIT 4 OR 5 MORE YEARS TO START....WELLS WILL BE TRADED IN LESS THAT 2 YEARS ANYWAY... MIGHT AS WELL GET THE MOST FOR HIM NOW WHILE HIS STOCK IS HIGH VS. AFTER HE GETS HURT AGAIN... I DONT THINK HIS STOCK WILL EVER BE AS HIGH AS IT IS NOW...

MOVE MILLER TO THE 4 TRADE WELLS WITH SOMEONE ELSE OR BY HIMSELF FOR A REAL SHOT BLOCKING BIG ... .THATS WHAT WERE REALLY MISSING... SAR CAN PLAY AN UNDERSIZED 5 AND UNLIKE KT CAN BE STRONG OFF THE BENCH ... WHICH IS PROBABLY BETTER CAUSE HES GETTING UP THERE AS WELL... AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST GIVE KT A PLANE TICKET TO ICELAND... FOR ALL THAT I CARE...

Wells injurys are not little anymore... his hamstring injury was not 10 games... it was like half the season... or more... and the year before he was out for season with his knee... his injurys are growing more and more serious.... all it will take is one more ... and it will be hard to move him ... not as hard as it was to move C-Webb ... but not easy... and we will lose any chance to get good talent for him...

Yeah. I trusted that previous post. You are right, I didn't check his injury time while he was on other teams. I should have spent the time googling it or something. Whatever.

Dude supposively doesn't what the Kings offered. O-well, there is no need to get all crazy and overpay the guy to keep him. The first poster was right about the Wells situation. I highly doubt Petrie signs him like he did Christie and Webber - that would be huge disaters right now if he didn't get two suckers to take them from us.

sactown100 1. Using caps is not necessary. I can see your comments.

I am well aware of how good Kevin Martin already is, and his potential. In fact, the mere idea that you are lecturing me about Kevin Martin is not only ironic but actually pretty funny.

What's with the attitude? This is a really friendly board. We have great discussions and we have the most active membership of any Kings message board on the Internet. You're acting like you're the first person to come up with any of this stuff. If you'd check some of our recent threads, you'd see that's far from the situation.

Sorry VF but I agree that we should sign and trade Bonzi. You're getting offended asking "What's with the attitude?" when you were the one that said "Who is he kidding? Who are you kidding?", now I'm not trying to start anything but when you say stuff like that, it can make you feel as if you're being talked down to. After all, this is a board of opinions.
Anyway, I think we should sign and trade Bonzi, I dont want to see him walk for nothing when we could get at least a useful big body for him. Kevin would also bring some youth and some fast break to our team. I would be happy if he started for us this year and averaged about 14ppg 3rpg 2apg and 1spg.

a) it was a groin

b) how many players around the league do you know of with chronic recurring groin injuries keeping them out large chunks of each season? I wouldn't spend too much time searching.

c) "the year before he was out for season with his knee"?? Um...sorry to break this to you but that knee injury took place years ago back in '99 or 2000 at the BEGINNING of Bonzi's career. Nor did he miss hardly any time with it -- missed trhe playoffs (happened late int eh eyar) and then was back to begin the next season. This groin pull was the first major injury he's had in 5 years.

sorry vf21 i am well aware of all the stuff going on here ... i just joined ... but i've been reading all the posts for months... well as soon as the season ended... anyway im not trying to have an attitude? im down with all you homies cause for real the Kings are sweet... but some of the first posts about my topic were put downs... sorry bout the caps i turned them on and kinda just left it on... word kings... PEACE OUT WELLS ! ! !

You would would you? I assume that you like to aim low in your expectations for the Kings at that rate.

The ENTIRE argument for tossing Bonzi overboard and starting Kevin is that he can step it up further and become a consistent 18-20ppg type scorer. Not that when handed the starting job he puts up numbers like a poor man's Raja Bell without even a Bonzi there to pick up the slack.

Maybe I was a little low with the expectations but scoring wise that would be all we can realistically expect for him in his first year as a starter, and him being so young and having trouble with inconsistency. If you are looking for him to be a 20ppg scorer then you are just fooling yourself. Thats ridiculous.

Kevin would average more than 3 boards. The guy is a very good rebounder for an SG, I'd say he'd get 15-16 PPG. I wouldn't expect 20 PPG his first year as a starter, but that'd be great if so.

That is hardly the entire argument.

I think sactown100 is more than able to speak for himself, which he did... I'm not offended, by the way. As a moderator of this forum, I sometimes want to make sure new members aren't getting off on the wrong foot.

If you want to discuss this further, please put it in a PM. Thanks.

for god sakes, miller is NOT a 4. did you see what duncan did to him the year webb was out? he was consistently getting burned by duncan. when he was first brought in, he had a grit to his game. now hes soft like marshmallow. he provides NO resistence in the paint.
