If you applying logic to this deal, why are the Lakers willing to make the deal. Its not to acquire enders! They already have one named Gasol. So it has to be to get a return on Gasol. Meaning they would want some talent back that could help the Lakers in the future. If I'm the Lakers, one thing I would have at the top of my list is something we don't have, and personally I wouldn't give up as just a throw in, and thats a first round pick in next years draft. Our first round pick is still in limbo depending on where we finish, making it untradable. Of course you could always do a draft day deal by shipping out the player you draft, but that doesn't help right now.
So If I'm the Lakers I would want Thornton, IT, and either JT or PPat, and then we would have to throw in Salmons to make up the difference in numbers. I would be very leery of giving up both JT and PPat. We would have little or no depth in our frontcourt. Frankly, I wouldn't be in favor of this deal. I like Gasol, but he already has shaky knee's, and he's just one slip away from being damaged goods. I can't see gutting the team to aquire him, and remember, he becomes an unrestricted freeagent at years end. Which as I said, is fine if your looking to clear cap space, but that's an expensive way to do it.
