Dammmissed it.. one more reason to watch sports center tonight
These are the few times BSPN is the station of choice. This will be the focus of the highlights unlike the NBA TV channel, who'll pretend it didn't happen.

I recorded the whole thing. This might be one of the ugliest brawls I have seen in a while. I blame Ben Wallace for the whole thing. He should get at least 10 games suspension im my opinion.

I disagree 10000%, He went into the stands and attacked a fan. Let the police deal with the fan not Ron Artest. How can he argue self defense in that situation when he went into the stands? How many sports players get things tossed at them? It probably happens nightly.

In the real world if I dumped my beer on someone’s head and the guy came back and punched me I would watching that guy get tossed in jail.

NO PLAYER has any right to go into the stands period. IMO no matter what spin the Steven A's are trying to put on it this was an embarrassment to the NBA.

Sure the fan needs to be arrested but on the flip side I think Ron A also should be in cuffs.

Just a disgrace I couldn’t believe my eyes when I seen it

Overreaction after overreaction. It's such a stupid incident that strikes me as a microcosm of what is wrong with the league. Ben Wallace should never have pushed the player in the face like that. The fan should never have thrown the beer at Artest. Artest should never have resorted to physical violence just because someone dumped a beer on him. Had any one of these three individuals chosen to do the right thing, the game wouldn't have been called nor would a near-riot have broken out in the bleachers.

There is just so much money involved in the game that players are treated like pampered babies from high school on up, and their egos become huge and fragile. I just can't believe these guys are so out of touch that they could get into the stands and fist fight with civillians and somehow think it's justified. That is such a street-level mentality.

Well, part of me does not blame them, not because I believe they did the right thing, but getting caught up in the moment makes doing the smart thing a bit difficult. Somebody will pay though, the league will make sure of that.

WOW! Makes me think twice about going to the Palace when the Kings are in town. HUGE disgrace to the game of basketball. While the fans are totally to blame, a player can NEVER react that way. PERIOD. That may sound rediculous in its context, but SOMEONE has to take the high road and it's NOT going to be the drunks in the stands. If the NBA wants to solve the issue...you STOP serving alcohol at games...simple as that. It may not solve every issue, but at least the fans will have their heads semi screwed on straight.

i don't know where your from but if someone throws a beer bottle in my face im gonna beat the **** outta them!

that's unacceptable!

i don't think he should be suspended for the way he reacted
he did what a normal person would have done
Watch the footage again, it was a plastic cup of soda/beer. I think he wants out anyways. Another thing is that if a normal person did what he did they would be arressted just the same as the person who threw the object. I agree the fans were wrong but geez 12 players against 15,000 fans, either you are really brave or really stupid. And I think we already know which one Artest is. :)

I'm not sure how you get 10 games out of what he did. He should be suspended, but ONLY for the altercation involving Artest. There should be no blame placed upon him for what happened later. That's all on Artest and Jackson. Sure, it's the fans' fault, but the players WILL be suspended.

It'll be interesting to see what the league does with players that left the bench...

The city of Detroit may press charges for asault still so don't think Artest is necesarly skiping out just beceause he did not leave in hadcuffs.

So this ought to end the Pedja for Artest threads for the season.

For some reason I saw it coming from a mile away.

That was some show. Wasn't that bad a foul, that Wallace to react the way he did and Artest tried to play it cool. Bad choice to get into the stand though. The fans were really disgusting.

I was exagarating 10 games, but if Artests faul was in any way flagrant or even hard I would justify Ben Wallace's reaction. It is obvious he was mad becasue Pistons were beating them and he just wanted to take it out on somebody. The fact is if he didn't make a first punch none of this would have happened.

LOL!

That's one of the things that irk me about the NBA. They are extremely uptight about how they handle their public relations. They almost never apologize for anything, they don't disclose information about referee discipline, but they are quick to publicly discipline a player when one gets out of line.

That's one of the main reasons I love the NFL. They don't hold themselves above accountability.

At first I thought Artest's foul wasn't that bad...but watch the replay. Doesn't it look like Artest followed through unnecessarily with BOTH arms on Wallace?

Also, the guy that Artest attacked..wasn't he holding a drink...therefore...was he the right guy????
