Make no mistake, Dan Fegan has a lot to do with this situation. He's done this before, and this is exactly the blue print he uses. I suspect that PDA has his fingerprints on this as well. Anyone that believes he's not bitter at how things played out is living in a fantasy world. All they had to do is plant the seeds, and then continue to water them. I truly feel sorry for Vlade. What a mess to walk into and none of it is of his making. If Vlade can somehow put all the kings men back to together again, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

Vlade needs to just take a stance like Petrie with Webber... Tell Fegan to go F himself, and Cousins has a contract and he needs to play out his contract. If Cousin still wants out in his final year, then you trade him for as much as you can get.

Vlade is an amazing dude. In the darkest times he always seems to end up being the one shining beacon.

Also ups the chance this is Fegan trying to bend us over the barrel. Unfortunately for him he did not take into account that Vlade spent half a decade playing politics in Serbia.

Vlade to the rescue!!! Finally!

For all the panic. Cuz IS locked up for 3 more years. This isnt a contract year trade demand.

Damage control is crucial at this point of course, but both Cuz and Karl are getting paid millions FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT. They need to get in a room and figure it out.

Oh, and Fegan can **** himself with a broken bottle.

I'm bummed that this situation is what finally gets me to register to kf.. I mean, I always hoped that my first post would be about something positive like a Kings championship, but I guess I always knew that as a Kings fan, it would have to be about something negative :(

I know there's a lot of suspicion around new accounts (particularly those from LA IP's), but I've been a Kings fan since the late 90's, and have been lurking on this board for well over a decade (I remember being stuck at work and reading about Webb going down while following VF21's play by play thread that she used to make from the middle of the woods on dial-up). So yeah, I guess I wanted to register in part just to thank everyone on here who've made following the Kings enjoyable for the last decade despite the Kings being, well.. the Kings for the last decade...

Anyway, I was thoroughly against the Malone firing, and like many of you, had concerns about the Karl hiring, and still don't particularly care for the guy. But I'm with bajaden on this one - I think this is Cuz (well, Fegan really, but Cuz by extension) trying to force his way out. He tried it the quiet way when he (reportedly) privately asked for a trade a month ago. The response to that was "Nope, not gonna trade you". So now this just feels like Cuz & co ramping things up by putting the Kings in a really tough position - "Either fire the coach you just hired or trade me". It just feels like this is Cuz demanding a trade without having to look like the bad guy.

If we're still not going to trade him as is being tweeted out, I'm wondering if a public trade demand or worse is coming.

Honestly, I can't really blame him for wanting out... I'd imagine practically every guy in that locker room would like out as well. I'm more surprised by the timing..I expected he'd more likely get traded by the all star break if we're floundering again.

At this point, I'm personally hoping we can get him to buy in for this season with a promise to move him if we're out of the playoff picture by the break. Then, miraculously, have things click next season and get him believing again.

Well, we're getting the Karl wants Cousins traded angle from multiple sources, and of course Vlade is going to deny it because it looks awful.

But either way, Karl and Cuz need to hash it out like big boys. Neither are going anywhere (unless Vivek decides to go big and bring in Thibs...Pipe dream).

The first part looks awful also. I think we're just choosing to believe the part of the statement most appealing to our ears. I'll tell you one thing I don't believe - if Karl is behind the scenes orchestrating a trade with Divac not knowing about it, that's beyond the pail. If that really is the case then Divac isn't the right guy for the job.

Something I can't understand and maybe you can help me here : If, as presumed, Fegan has something to do with this situation and other leaks/rumors, why Boogie keeps him as his agent, given how important loyalty is important for him ?

The language in the rumor was "pushing". Let's just hope this all quiets down and we start winning. We know what they say about winning...

This is what I was saying in my timeline/attempt at some hopefulness a few pages back: this all could have been playing out in the background for months now and be old news to the front office. Then the draft approaches and PDA and/or Fegan throw it out like a bomb to ambush us and try to induce a panic.

Off topic: Long time reader, first time poster. Just ran into Karl at lunch, and spoke with him (didn't have the nerve to mention Cousins). He didn't seem on edge or anything though. Did ask him about he draft, and he said thy like both WCS and Mudiay

Well Fegan is loyal to Cuz, so that's enough. :)

And from Cuz's perspective, with an idiot franchise that has desperately tried everything possible to alienate him, now he's finally got somebody on his side.

So the narrative now is that Vlade knew about Karl lobbying players for Cousins' trade, that he knew about Karl talking with other teams about a Cousins trade, that all the while he was saying no way would they trade Cousins? If that is the case, this saga isn't over, it's just put on the back burner until maybe they get a better deal and the hoopla has died down a bit.
