I think they still want IT. Bad. But I also think they want/need to get rid of Smith or Jennings which is...precarious.Does this mean they aren't looking at IT anymore. Or do they want that pairing

Nothing else? lol
If Detroit keeps Monroe (which it looks like they're leaning) Meeks will have plenty of space. Very underrated player on the rise, imo. Above average defender for a guard that can also guard PG's.
Happens every FA season. Guys get overpaid because that's what it takes to steal a player from another team (and all of the other teams). I don't think he's being grossly overpaid either, just above the MLE?
The market dictates what he is worth. You don't think there were other teams in the same range?Methinks you are over-rating Meeks just a tad. Remember he played on a depleted team last year with a system known for inflating shooters stats. He doesn't rebound or pass well and at best has been an average defender in his career. Good 3 point shooter but its likely about 2M more than he's worth.

DET paid a little over MLE to keep those teams away. That's overpaying by only $1 million.

And the other way to look at it is Meeks was going to be a MLE level contract guy this offseason, and DET barely went over that price. But we have no way of knowing this. For all we know the next best offer was $2M. When your cap become clogged with these kinds of deals (like our own) and you can't improve your roster it only matters what that player is payed now, not some hypothetical market 2 years prior. For irreplaceable talents, you bet you overpay. But not for the kind of guys where the step down to an alternative wouldn't be major.
Hmmm bidding war between Boston and Detroit?Who knows, maybe. Detroit has long been dumb with its money, but I imagine this, and the Cartier Martin mini signing, are SVG trying to recreate his wall of shooters around the frontline up there. So if he's willing to grossly overpay for Meeks to get his new Reddick, its not impossible he would like a new Jameer Nelson too. And since they are wasting capspace, makes it more likely they have to cut a sign and trade deal to get it done.
It's FA...no way around it.5 year 60 mill, Gortat resigning with the Wizards...
That's a lot of money

Golden State has reached an agreement with Nets free agent guard Shaun Livingston, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
I think a lot of these MLE guys are going to start to go with teams giving up on the big dreams. Meeks, now Livingston. Two guys I'm sure the Kings were interested in.Livingston to the Warriors.. DANG!

He's already 30.He's a quality big man on both ends of the court. I think it's well worth it. Plus, he definitely showed his worth in the playoffs. I think a center his size can play for another 4 years. I wonder if they'll use him as an expiring the last year. We'll see.
Also, he was a hot commodity.

The Warriors' deal with Shaun Livingston will be three years, $16 million, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
We aren't going to be able to afford anyone...
Why aren't the Kings making any offers. I have been reading hoopshype and Twitter and I have NOT seen a single mentioned of the Kings. Are we going to have the EXACT same team with the added of Nik for next season? If so, what a long season this will be.
Let the flames begin with my post.

Time to match Detroit's 3/$24M and run, if the market keeps up like this.
Not positive Detroit can offer that now

Patty mills out 7 months
Jason Jones tweeted about is it time to bring back Greivas Vasquez.
His production was HUGELY inflated in Mr Pringles' offence. Watch his production drop significantly in Detroit!Meeks had an outstanding year last season. Can guard 1's. THIS. IS. FA.
