um he played very well for NO before going to Europe, he lit it up in the playoffs.

hes more than a viable backup.
He did no such thing. He hit a couple of three pointers en route to costing the Hornets Game 7 of that series. Lit it up is not the way I'd characterize his performance. And any team that wants to use him as anything other than a spot reliever at the guard spot is either not going to be very good or is going to have a ton of talent on the floor with him.

Anyways, my point is that bringing in Pargo should not be precursor to trading Kirk Hinrich, as if he makes up for the loss.

Antonio McDyess will sign a two-year deal with the Spurs, sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday afternoon.
The deal will be for the midlevel exception, approximately $11.7 million over the next two seasons.
McDyess was deciding between the Cavaliers, Pistons and Spurs.

nice pick up for the Spurs after they lost to Boston on Rasheed. He'd be ok coming off the bench with decent mid range shot...Rasheed would have put the Spurs on top..not sure how it will work out with him in Boston.

Looks like Gortat signed an offer sheet with Dallas:

The Mavericks are hoping that the combination of Marion and Orlando restricted free agent Marcin Gortat -- along with the re-signing of Jason Kidd -- will greatly improve the depth and flexibility possessed by a team that won 50 games last season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs before losing to Denver. The Magic can match the five-year, $34 million offer sheet Gortat has signed with Dallas but are expected to let him go.

They like calamity?
That guess is as good as any I've heard. Three years is a reasonable bargain for a team in its prime. Five years is a death wish. And it doesn't sound like it was necessary to go five years. Houston only offered him one.

Exactly my thought as well. 2-3 years, OK. But 5 years? Wow. Talk about what may become an untradable contract......

wait..... so now orlando's tpe is 10 million? damn they could make a play for tyson chandler. i thought that it was only 7 million.

lol @ ron getting a 5 year deal. thats probably why he didnt go to the cavs, they wouldnt give him 5 years. maybe 3 but not 5.

Grant Hill will re-sign with the Suns according to Yahoo! Sports. His decision may have been influenced by the belief that Steve Nash is close to signing a contract extension. The proposed deal to keep Nash in Phoenix is believed to be for three years at approximately $33 million.
Hill was pursued by the Celtics and Knicks but chose to remain in Phoenix.

Channing Frye has also agreed to join the Suns.

Brandon Bass has signed with the Orlando Magic, sources told RealGM's Alex Kennedy.

Late Thursday night, Bass' agent Tony Dutt indicated that Orlando was the front runner for his client over the Portland Trailblazers and Detroit Pistons.

While terms of the deal haven't been disclosed, it is expected to be worth four years, $18 million.

Last season, Bass averaged a career high 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Great signing for them. I guess this means they are preparing for life post-Gortat?

Channing Frye has also agreed to join the Suns.

Here's the details on that move..

Channing Frye signs with Suns

Free-agent forward Channing Frye agreed to terms with the Phoenix Suns on Friday, a source close to the process told ESPN.com.

Frye, who was with the Portland Trail Blazers the past two seasons, is believed to have signed a two-year, $3.8 million deal for the team's biannual extension and will have an option on his second year of the contract, a league source told ESPN.com.

More..

If Frye signed for 2 years at less than $2M per, then Diogu can probably be had for a similar (if not lower) price. Which I would approve of.
