That is our most glaring weakness.Bballkingsrock said:I dont think its more of the rebounds, I think its more of the second chance points. That is because they are scoring off their rebounds.
romanianusa said:I blame it on laziness when it comes to Kings' rebounding. For example...i noticed Webber has a tendency to walk away from the paint after defending a shot....he has a tendency to run up the court instead of coming back and try to help out the rebound. I mean HE IS one of the single reasons the Kings suck at rebounding cuz he's a PF and he is supposed to rebound along with Miller. Of course it didn't help with Peja not a good rebounder either.
But what i am saying is..if you suck at rebounding...then why make it worst by not even attempted to come back and get the ball or play fundamental box out?? I mean these guys are not even bother...no wonder they continue to suffer year in and year out in giving up rebounding. How many times have you seen Portland getting missed shot after missed shot??? That ain't win you no Playoffs game if you keep playing like that. If you don't change the habit...that ain't never going to change.
You know whats really funny? Tonight Chris Kaman had 21 pts. and 14 rebounds against Tim Duncan, they showed a frickin highlight reel of him scoring over Tim 3 different ways. So I guess Tim Duncan is a horrible rebounder and defender just like Chris... NOT! People that get on a guy for rebounding after he gets 13 or 14 rebounds in a game just don't know basketball.funsc said:Good points, How to solve it?

Your right Tim Duncan is a horrible rebounder, I mean Chris Kaman was able to get that many rebounds on him! Someone should teach Tim Duncan how to box out. He needs to hustle more.allrightythen said:And if he gives up 5 or 6 more rebounds that he could have easily gotten with a little more hustle? Can a person get on him for that? A certain number of rebounds in a game doesn't all of a sudden remove a player from a critical eye.

You always miss my points... If you continue to argue with me about C-Webbs rebounding while he's consistantly leading the team in Rebs everynight, and is having an extended stretch where he is avg 13 a game, I'm going to shoot myself...allrightythen said:Right about what? I was asking a question. I don't remember mentioning anything about Tim Duncan being a horrible rebounder.

But Chris is hardly the problem.![]()
Alacron said:I agree there's always room for improvement, but Webber, our leading rebounder, is hardly who I'd single out for criticism. Miller hasn't been boxing out lately (even on opponent free throws!), and Peja is downright embarassing this year.
When a guy is grabbing 10+ boards a game and ranks #13 in the League in Defensive Rebounds per 48 minutes, I don't see why anyone would point to him as the problem. If a guy is averaging 25 points per game, is his scoring the problem? Averaging 3 blocks, is his defense the problem?
A big area I'd like to see overall improvement in is the Kings' offensive rebounding. Not one Sacramento player is in the top 50 Off. Rebounds per 48 minutes. Often I don't see anyone even make a token effort to go for the ball. On the other side, our guys have to work to corral every opponent miss. Why can't we make them work for their boards for a change?

If instead they moved toward the basket they would get some of those that bounce away from the paint. Rebounding is not just a big mans game, often it reqires just quickness and going after the ball.
