Injured Brand to miss a month

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3778224

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand will be sidelined for a month because of a dislocated shoulder.
Team officials say the Sixers' leading scorer has a fracture and tear in his right shoulder but will not need surgery. Brand was hurt Wednesday night in a 93-88 win against Milwaukee.
Brand is averaging 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season.
A playoff team last season, the 76ers struggled to a 9-14 start before firing coach Maurice Cheeks last week. They are 2-0 under interim coach Tony DiLeo.
Brand signed a five-year, $80 million contract on July 9 after two seasons with the Chicago Bulls, followed by seven seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was limited to only eight games last season with the Clippers because of a left Achilles tendon injury.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Grizzlies waived former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker on Thursday.

Walker

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound forward has not played this season. He was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in June along with the draft rights to guard O.J. Mayo and guards Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric in exchange for the draft rights to forward Kevin Love, swingman Mike Miller, forward Brian Cardinal and center Jason Collins.
In his 13th season, Walker has averaged 17.5 points and 7.7 rebounds in 893 career games. He played for the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat and Minnesota.
Walker was an All-Star in 1998, 2002 and 2003. He ranks fourth among active players (10th all-time) in 3-point field goals made (1,386) and second (sixth all-time) in 3-point field goal attempts (4,264).
The 32-year-old Chicago native was selected sixth overall in the 1996 draft by the Celtics.
"Antoine Walker was a true professional during his time in Memphis," said Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace. "We wish him all the best in his effort to find another team where he can receive more playing time."

Woohoo! Former All Star coming our way to save us! I can feel ti now! Twoine is a King! :D

Watching the Magic/Spurs game:

- Courtney Lee is already a really good defender. It's not often you see a rookie come in and make a splash defensively, but SVG already trusts him in crunch time to lock down opponents. Still a bit raw offensively but I think he has a lot of potential.
- Dwight Howard is a few offensive moves away from Shaq territory..... just like he's been for the last two years.
- I like Marcin Gortat. He makes little things happen on the floor and he can score.
- The Spurs just don't have the supporting cast, and their main 3 look old. They flail too much hoping for calls.
- Jameer Nelson just WORKED Tony Parker the whole game. Doesn't bode well for their postseason

Brandon Roy is good. The Blazer are good. A good, young team. I'm jealous, and the Kings will have to deal with them for years to come.

Brandon Roy is good to the tune of 50 pts.

I was actually taking his clutchness for granted this game. Everytime Pheonix was up I thought to myself..."its ok, Roy will save the day."

Edit: 52 for Roy. Yikes. He willed Portland to victory. I wish we had a player like that.

Boozer to opt out of contract with Jazz?

link

"I'm opting out. No matter what, I'm going to get a raise regardless. I am going to opt out, I don't see why I wouldn't. I think it's a very good business decision for me and my family, but I'd also like to see what happens with the Jazz and stay here."

I think it's a very good business decision for me and my family...[

Isn't that what Latrell Sprewell said when he turned down that lucrative contract?

;)

"Make no mistake. This one hurts. Any loss to the Lakers is worth 5 losses to the Bucks or Wizards in my heart. Losing on Christmas is a lump of coal in my stocking that I could have done without." :)

Aww, happy holidays everyone.

boston lost 2 in a row.... i doubt they even care about the regular season...

Well they should because the Lebrons are right there with them. They barely beat them last year in Boston.

Don't make Chris Paul angry

The P’s had a solid lead and CP wasn’t showing up much directly on offense, missing several jumpers. He came to check in at around 3:36, and I was in complete Pacers mode. Without thinking, I murmured, “CP ain’t ****.” He quickly turned around and said, “What?” High off the fact that he even acknowledged me, I said, “Yeah, you’re lucky T.J.’s (Ford) not playing.” He replied, “Yeah, I prayed for that last night,” and rolled his eyes and laughed. I was in complete disarray, and said to the man that I had so passionately spoken in MVP support for last year: “You shouldn’t have been mentioned for MVP last year, Kobe is way better than you.” He laughed and walked off. My friend gave me the “what have you done” look.

What had he done indeed? Paul made five of his next seven shots, scoring 11 points over the last 3:36 of the game. Then, with two seconds left, he dished off his 12th assist on a David West jumper. Hornets win by two. But it wasn't over there....

CP went over, took a photo with someone, then walked in my direction. I stood up. He stopped directly in front of the scorers table and, pointing a solid finger, and said in LeBron fashion, “It’s your fault. It’s your fault.” My legs began to shake as my star crush walked away.

Awesome. Isn't Chris Paul the dreamiest?
