Apparently, the buzz about Rambis is circulating as far as the Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso:

The gym was buzzing all day long... NBA draft talk, the coaching carousels in the various countries and the very active free agent markets dominated the discussions, while the Eurocamp games served as the day’s backdrop.

Some of the more interesting topics included:

-Talk of the Sacramento Kings making Los Angeles Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis the primary target in their head coaching hunt, with the only remaining obstacle being a contract figure that satisfies both parties.

Plenty of other interesting stuff in the article as regards the draft, but I thought it was interesting that the NBA reps over there seem to think that Rambis is our target.

I'm beginning to suspect Rambis is the next coach, too. They aren't doing anymore interviews. If it was Westphal or Thibodeau, They could have announced it by now, unless they haven't agreed on contract terms.

If it's Rambis, they probably have to wait until the finals are over to announce it. That would certainly explain the delay in naming a coach.

In fact, that would probably be a better explanation for the delay than "coming to terms on a contract". I suppose it's entirely possible that they would hold off on telling Rambis that he didn't get the job until after the playoffs to avoid some sort of emotional letdown, but that's less likely.
