New backup PG???

I like the idea of Christie at this point... but ONLY as backup PG so as not to squish the kids. I don't know if Adelman has the discipline to resist the temptation to put him on the Kobes and T-Macs of the league.

Doug has always played well against smaller players, defensively and offensively. He passes better than he shoots, and would create a lot of matchup problems when he enters the game. And it's a good start for getting away from midget ball.

I don't think we should spend our money on a FA PG that is looking for more $/PT. House, the ultimate Bibby entourage person, will be just as happy to make a few bucks and get some PT when Bibby needs a blow, which is seldom. And while I like Brick's logic in bringing DC back Doug has too much pride to play for peanuts.

Honestly, there are a handful of guys out there, some in this poll, and some not, that could do the job for us. I'm not worried about it nearly as much as I am about the center/PF position.

Depends... whatever happened to the pick we got from the Hawks?

We were still contending at the time, and there was no way Dickau would see the court with Bibby and Bobby there, so it's hard to argue with that move.

geoff's definitely made them, whether we acknowledge them or nto. But Dickau is a weird case because he counced ALL over the league there and absolutely looked like he could not play a lick. And then suddenly he blossomed out of nowhere...and I snuck in and grabbed him for a couple of my fantasy teams before anyboyd else noticed, and it was all good.

Why are Dixon and Wagner on there? They're SGs. Dooling will be with the Nets or Magic, and wants the MLE.

Knight is a guy we can get for cheap, or a trade that'd get us Watson.

Eddie House is a small SG, he isn't really a PG.

Watson isn't a real playmaker either, but his defense/athleticism/hustle makes up for it.

Brevin Knight is great. Real good defender too.

I wouldn't mind if we kept House for cheap, but still got a real back-up PG. Things could be better with a full-training camp with the team for House, but things weren't always good when House came in for Bibby, which is why Knight or Watson should be gotten for back-up PG.

I voted for Eddie House, but I forgot about Brevin Knight...didnt he get like 8 or 9 apg last year? sounds like he would fit in nicely w/ the Kings...does he want a bigger role than back up though?

How about: The best PG that can be had for the LLE or the minimum?

Guys like Earl Watson, Marko Jaric (who is supposedly close to signing with Minny), perhaps even Knight (after a very good year in Charlotte) are going to demand most or probably all of the MLE. Right now that's the Kings best bet in terms of addressing the PF spot.

Unless another trade is made, I can't see the Kings spending the MLE on a backup point when there are glaring holes up front.

I say we just use Garcia as back up point , He's like A young Penny Hardaway he has the Dribbling, speed and IQ all to play the point, this way we can develop Martin & still play Garcia... Just a thought..

I have real doubts about his ability to handle quick Pgs in the NBA. In college he wasn't even a guard, but a point-forward. Bringing it up against a gnat would be a real chore for him, and a rookie backup PG playing out of position doesn;t sound too appealing. Think he can be useful as ballhandler #3 as an emergency PG if somebody is hurt or in foul trouble, but as a primary backup I could see that really really not working out for us.

If Eddie House could handle the ball for us I'm POSITIVE Garcia can, he is an excellent ball handler and he's quick, its not like he'd be covering Elite point guards, He'd be convering the back up points, and his height would give him a big advantage on other guards to get his shot off. I'm still for it.

Maybe Garcia is L'il Penny in the flesh. But we don't know that, and if the Kings can get a proven player at that spot for a reasonable contract, they need to do that.

Averaged 1.98 SPG, season-high 8, career, 8 twice.

I never really knew about him till last season. Guy is really underrated, especially by his stats.

Ronnie Price from the summer league has a good chance to fill that role. A scorer, 3rd in the nation I believe his senior year, a ball handler, a true PG.

I'm really surprised everyone is so high on Eddie House. Yeah, he can score, but he could hardly even dribble the ball up the floor and initiate the offense. Toward the end of the season and into the playoffs, Bibby had to be on the floor for ANYTHING to happen offensively because House couldn't do it, so Bibby ended up playing 40+ minutes a game.

Let's get a real backup point guard.

I'm not sold on Jay Williams (I didn't think had the pure PG skills before his injuries) but he might be worth a look. Another interesting idea would be Chris Duhon, especially if Williams does re-sign with the Bulls.

Steve Blake has been a favorite of mine since Maryland and I like his quickness, defense and decision making.

Earl Watson or Brevin Knight would be awesome, but as I noted, both are likely out of the Kings price range. Blake or Duhon could be bargain pickups if Petrie could land either one.

You could argue that Bobby is a small SG and not a PG too. Eddie played great last year when he became acclimated. Lets keep it all in the family.

That or if payton was willing to sign for vet. minimum. That would be nice. Bring on Eddie Griffin and we are one maniacal team!
