so is Paul George a superstar as well then?
No he's no where near the defender or athletic specimen Lenoard is nor is he even close to being as efficent . PG13 is a good defender Kawahi is ELITE.

He might not be a superstar like Curry, Bron and KD but he's clearly top 10 regardless of position.

Ish Smith going back to Philly in a trade. New Orleans gets two pretty good second round picks (2016 Denver and 2017 Philly.) Ish played well for New Orleans, but Tyreke is back now and they appear to be shedding some expiring assets to rebuild around AD. I would expect Ryan Anderson to be moved.

If the Colangelo hiring didn't signal the end of Hinkie-ball then this does. Trading two decent picks for a rental of Ish Smith just a few months after they had let him go is not something Hinkie would have done. They're still easily the worst team in the league, but I think they're trying to show some level of respectability after that meeting with Adam Silver. Also Carl Landry is finally getting some minutes now, not that he's any good, but he is a veteran.

what about Jimmy Butler?

Dellavedova jumps on Iguodala's back during a free throw and they say it's a strategy play...I've seen it all in the NBA now.

Some ugly basketball today from the little that I watched, and looking at the box scores when I had a chance. Seemed like a lot of guys had Christmas hangovers and didn't want to be there. Do we really need 5 games on Christmas?

Same thing they are levels below Lenoard at both ends and are not as big or strong.

Leonard, George and Butler are all in the same category, to me at least. I don't see any superstar's in any of them, but they are all all-star players you can contend with as a second options.

So, uhm, yeah... This was me watching my favorite player currently in the league, during the final seconds of the Pelicans game tonight:

Meanwhile in Phoenix...

The Suns are firing assistant coaches Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting, league sources tell Yahoo. Jeff Hornacek future unclear.

Yeah wth is this? A coach should be able to maintain his own staff. If I'm Hornacek I "check" out for the season myself and dare them to fire me and hit an island somewhere.

Good news is one of our competitors for that last spot may be done for here soon.

so the Suns fire their assistant coaches but Hornacek is still there? Won't be long before he joins them. Bledsoe will be out for a little while after his meniscus surgery. Utah cannot catch a break, three of their contributors are out. The West is wide open as far as seeds 4-8.

Suns from here on out need to tank the season and play their youth more and more. Signing Knight was a fail and they need to get rid of him in the off season. Try to find a star in the draft and hope the ping pong balls bounce their way come May.

Might be the best thing to happened to them, Warren, Booker and len all play more and all 3 could be above average players at there position.

I don't know much about the Suns but Bledsoe is a good defensive player. Can Bledsoe's backup play defense?

Knight is now the PG so no, but Ronnie Price can play D but, Devin Booker replaces Knight at SG. It would have been better if the Suns had Bledsoe and not Knight imo, although sucks whenever any athlete has any serious injury.

how so? he's been playing well and his salary is more than fair, especially considering the cap increase. plus, if they hadn't signed him, they'd have given away the Lakers pick for nothing, so the signing was necessary.

I agree, the problem was trading Knight imo, this trade might be remembered as one of the only lose-lose-lose trades:
The Suns gave up too much for Knight who is far from a perfect fit.
The Bucks gave up too much for MCW, because Kidd thought he could make him a young version of himself.
And for the 76ers, who most analysts probably thought that won the trade (they always do), that was maybe the moment that the whole "trust the process" thing began to crack, because it looks like they keep winning trades but aren't really progressing (and with Embiid's injury, and Okafor problems it seems like the process isn't going so well).

I don't hate the trade for Phoenix, mostly because I kinda like Knight and I don't hate it for Philly, because that pick is an honest to god trade chip. even if the Lakers keep their pick this year, I don't see them progressing to a degree that the pick won't be a lottery pick next year. hate that trade for Milwaukee, though. MCW is a really awkward fit for that team and he doesn't have as much upside as you'd expect, since he's already pretty old for how recently he joined the league. dunno how much the pick would've done for the Suns, though, so I don't mind trading it for decent value.

Look, I don't deny Knight is a fine player and all but the Suns have no franchise player to build around and they are in no man's land at the moment with their current roster. Knight can be a valuable asset for them down the road or Bledsoe even to try to acquire that franchise changing player.

true, they don't have a franchise player, but if anything, getting Knight impacted the search for that positively. remember, they were really close to getting Lamarcus Aldridge. without Knight and Chandler in fold, they probably don't get anywhere with LMA.
