On second thought, the local channel is having technical difficulties. I guess it's ESPN or bust, after all. Sounds like they had Vince Carter sitting in, too.

You're not wrong. But at the same time... this team has been rebuilding through the draft for 15 years. Half of the current active roster is made up of players drafted with top 10 picks. A lot of the fans immediately want every player gone by the time they sign their first post-rookie contract and there's no end to the rebuild in sight. We traded a 3x All Star to get Buddy Hield in the first place and we currently have no All Stars to trade. Selling everything might net us a mediocre (non lottery) pick or two but it could easily take us a decade to draft another All Star even with multiple picks a year.

I think the element people are really failing to appreciate here is that the last time this team was good the roster came together almost overnight and they had a very good coach to lead them. Small market teams have more challenges luring top free agents but the challenge for any NBA team is basically the same. A game of basketball only requires 8 or 9 players but those players all need to play well together. We've had a lot of talented players come through here in those 15 years but the team hasn't managed to get all of them pulling in the same direction for even one complete season. Maybe if you draft a Lebron James your head coach doesn't matter but for mere mortals, someone needs to be able to truly lead them.

The franchise was one draft decision away from being a playoff team for the next decade and blew the obvious choice.

I don't see any other way around it. We don't have a Mitch Richmond. There's no Webber on the trading block. No Vlade type player wanting to sign here. Just a carousel of bad players, mediocre draft picks and poor effort on top of terrible decisions from the top. I don't think running it back with any sort of tweaks will get this team any traction.

It's always bothered me that Tyreke wasn't re-signed when his rookie contract was up. He's not a great fit on paper since we need rebounding and defense way more than we need a slashing guard with a questionable jumper, but I'd like to see him come home and play for the Kings again at some point and we may be 2 weeks away from trading half the roster anyway, so sure. Why not. Omri was a real bright spot in his second go round so maybe history will repeat itself?

The NBA's third hottest team? The Houston Rockets of course! 5 wins in a row after losing 15 straight. And they are doing it running 3 guards, a 6'4 small forward and a big.

Well playing okc 2x and Orlando does help (except if you’re the kings :p) but the other 2 wins were against quality teams

Eric Gordon would look good on a team making a Playoff push or looking to strengthen their bench for a run

did we burn down all the bridges with him tho?

I really liked the guy. This team got really stupid with him and probably ruined him, so having a redemption with us would be nice. But I'd also hate to see it go south again.

Bally Sports South just came back from commercial, in a one-possession game between the Hornets and Hawks, and were showing Renee Montgomery and Treavor Scales (their studio broadcast team) just looking at their phones, instead of the game... Except that you could clearly hear Bob Rathbun, Dominique Wilkins and Vince Carter's call of the game, while you were looking at Montgomery and Scales looking at their phones. It took about two minutes before anybody noticed.

Sir Foster is playing "I Ain't Neva Scared" on the organ, as they review a Coach's Challenge!

As to the game itself, Hawks started the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run, to take the lead against a Hornets team that is playing without their starting backcourt, but they now trail by 5 points, with less than 30 seconds to go.

I've never seen as good of a driver in my time watching basketball than Tyreke Evans. The dude was just masterful at driving the ball and finishing

Gordon & Wood are ruining their tank

I admittedly haven't watched many Rockets games, but I just can't understand why they aren't giving more minutes to Sengun considering he has the highest PER on the team. Obviously that doesn't mean everything, but it's odd that we can find 25 minutes a game for our rookie (while trying to make the playoffs) and the Rockets can't find more than 18 minutes for their rook in a rebuilding year.

I also am mystified how announcers can totally blow pronunciations of player's names. The last highlight of him I saw the announcer said SHANE GUN. I mean I get struggling with certain names but that is not a particularly hard one.

He unfortunately also plays the same position as their best player. He should get more minutes but those would have to come at the expense of Wood minutes.

Davion’s in the same situation though, so who knows?

Because the Rockets realized that Wood at C=all-star caliber player and he's fueled their 6-game winning streak. They'll have to figure that out eventually, but could be a Vuc-Bamba situation all over again, where he just stuck behind an all-star caliber player.

Them also ripping off a huge winning streak immediately after their prized second overall pick starts missing time with an injury isn't exactly a great look either.

The Houston rebuild is kind of confusing.

Yeah it's 20 games, but they have to be kicking themselves for not grabbing Mobley and pairing him with Wood-KPJ.

I think they could play them together occasionally just like Allen and Mobley.
